    For the realism, I'd choose raytraced. But for the aesthetic, I'd choose lumen. However lumen is basically a graphically cheaper mode of raytracing.

      But Id say the prices has come down significantly and 2nd hand is always good option if you are just testing things out.
      I always buy the high end versions so I can explore the new features without worrying.
      But that is of course financially not the wisest choice every time.

      @@astralgod6448 yeah sure, and there's also a lot of postprocessing involved as well. The point was that to achieve how the second looks, there's a lot you can already do without switching to a completely different model.

      @@hachikuku_ Oh i mean yea sure. But you would probably have to do it manually if u only wanted to affect realistic light behavior. For example if you just post processed bloom it would affect other bright areas as well. While this only affected specific areas.

    I noticed the flickering bokeh spots in the lumen version and other artefacts but the rtx version is very clean.
    How many samples did you use for rendering?

      This was one of my first attempts on rendering, so I didn’t even put AA …
      But very stunning for a total noob haha

      @@TrojanLube69 I also feel like the quality of the "ordinary" sequence render improved a lot. Having AA on TSR and exporting in 4K results in suprisingly clean renders, without the need of more samples. Also for me the only way to get something rendered while using world partition.

    Your lighting setup should change depending if you are going to use lumen vs ray vs pathtracing. With that said, lumen is still magical.

    Something about the coloring is off between the two shots. The raytracing cut is cooler while lumen is more warmer.

      thats because Ray Tracing has better detailed global illumination while Lumen's GI is simpler and cheaper, making everything inherit the colors of the directional light

    Lumen is better for me at least since it seems more controlled and soft while the other one is kinda harsh and overexposed

      ​@@loop5720 you obviously don't know what Pathtracing is. Pathtracing is just a shortcut for Raytracing. When we talk about Raytracing in UE4/5, RTX or in general, we really just mean Pathtracing. It's just faster and easier to implement!

    Human in lumen looks better while background doesn't look good and in the raytracing environment and background is good while the human looks average😅

    And you know why? Cause when you enable raytracing in ue4 games, engine begins to choke with its own diharrea not to mention fps are terrible and you cant even tell the difference apart from reflections hence lumen

      Hi I’m using 3090 with 12900k
      But I think most of the new 4000 cards should be able to handle it

      Get one thing straight, Lumen is based off of raytracing.
      It's a more optimised form of it to allow users access raytracing without spending so much to acquire an rtx gpu.

      Plus Lumen is itself based off raytracing, and it's a more optimised form of it to allow users access raytracing without breaking their bank for an RTX GPU.

    Ray tracing simulates the physics behaviors of light and its only supportes on rtx gpus.Lumen offers realistic global ilumation and reflections and its supported on all gpus.its a different thing

      Lumen is software based RT GI and reflections so it runs fine on most of modern GPU without RT cores.

    You should honestly take this video down because it's a very bad representation of the differences between the two and you're only confusing people that don't know any better. You can clearly see on the tree in the background of the raytracing shot that something isn't right. The leaves are giving off a flat shading look. The ambient light overall is totally different in both shots too.
