Couple of thoughts/ questions. If your strategy relies in chaff buying you time, but the opponent is missiling out most or all your chaff like you were in game 2, how do you respond? Shields? More chaff? As far as Raiden balance, the most obvious one to me is that towers should be immune to chain/arc hits. I.e, only if the Raiden has directly targeted the tower with one of its initial, unopposed Unupgraded bolts should it take damage.
Shields are a good start, those missiles would not break them and more chaff running forward fast like crawlers to maybe keep the shields alive if you are lucky. Also that guy got extended range marksman card and as Whooped said, if he had anti air tech also it would have been game. Their range and power if he had triple deployed for a couple of rounds would have been too much for the raidens to match.
If i watch the video, I dont think the towers ever seem to take damage from the Chain hits. its more that it fires 3-5 beams, programmed to target different things, including towers ?
Good question about the chaff! If your opponent keeps using missiles to kill your chaff, that is terrible for their economy--so over the course of a game, each time they do it, it's a benefit for you. Towards the end of the game, it's a common strategy to "missile out" chaff in order to swing a round in your favor. To prevent this when you're aggro, having a couple missile interceptors or units with shields can help a lot. If you're going a bruiser build or standard, then having a central point or two in front in order to soak up missiles also works. I agree about the chain effect not killing towers unless it's a direct attack!
Another option is to use anti missile units, they can take out missiles and save you money in the long run. So far I find mustangs with those anti missile upgrades gets all the missiles within range during the opening salvo.
Raiden’s need a multi-pronged counter. Chaff, especially with shields. Fangs and wasps work well here. High HP single target units to soak the damage is another option if you go the crawler route such as tarantula, sabertooth, and fortress. With the front taken care of, it’s just a matter of choosing a long range single target anti-air unit to kill the Raiden that doesn’t die to chain splash. I’ve successfully used Mustangs with range and AA as both additional chaff clear and Raiden counter. Phoenix with range and EM stops the chain. Melters with range and Overlords all work. You could even go Fort AA until you get EMPed. Marksmen don’t seem to be the answer as they die to easily to the chain splash. Mustangs work because of the unit number and chaff clear. The real key seems to be to win the chaff war. Alternatively you can tie the chaff war and have high HP units in the front soaking up the Raiden shots.
@@4FunCycle I used Marksmen with AA, Doubleshot, Range, and Assault Mode to win a match against Raiden Spam, the Assault Mode gives them enough health to survive random chain lightning damage. As a bonus this also works all right against Wasps since Assault Mode splashes damage.
@@Jmat-tc8zs AssMan works for one turn. What happens when they add a source of EM? Stormcallers or the Raiden themselves immediately come to mind. Raiden chain lightning seems perfect to counter your Assmen. They reach behind the line to hit your even shorter range Marksmen. If I saw someone commit to 4-tech AssMen to counter my Raiden, I would 3-tech my carry unit with EM and neuter your carry. My assumption is that what happened with your AssMan game is that you won the chaff war. Without winning the chaff war hard your AssMan should have been hit with EM.
@@4FunCycle You are correct, I blew through his ground forces and quickly got marksmen on target, the range decrease didn't matter because he was already killing them prior with chain lightning. The extra health kept them alive long enough to actually begin killing them once the ground game was won. Photon Emission would be something I would have tried if the EM came out, don't know if it would have worked or not. But yeah every decision has opportunity costs, and this is the strategy which worked for me.
Looks like in the second game that the Crawlers were leveling up quickly because of your Steel Balls on the right hand side. If you sold the Steel Balls sooner they might not have scaled up as high as they did.

Easiest one unit challenge ever
It felt a little difficult cause I had zero chaff clear :D

I am looking forward to the Wraith one so much!
can you make a guide on how to counter mass raiden?
I've been struggleing to combat it for a while now

Cycle has a good answer. I got you covered in my next video!

Raiden the scorpion of the air
It kind of is, eh!? Wouldn't it be cool if Scorpions had Chain tech :D
Feel better soon!!
Thanks, Omer! Already feeling better :D

That is an interesting point. I didn't think about that.
is this before or after the raiden nerf ? gg overall
Looks like it's recorded before the nerf, since chain costs 200
Raiden nerf coming in the next update. mark it
Post some decent games ... lol None of these matches had chaff clear & one didnt even have chaff ... lol
My Win or Learn playlist is my competitive series. This one is more for fun.
Everyone at 1400-1600 elo is doing mass Raidens...good for me I counter them with mass snipers + tarantulas ez
Funny because bounce snipes mm 😂
@@ChessJourneyman that's why you also start spamming mustangs as soon as there's a hint of an incoming raiden spam
