Akerfeld on vocals, also was on tour with Katatonia in 1996. This song was hypnotic. In a venue the people just jumped with the beat. It was like a rave. The floor was shaking. Great memories.
October Tide "Rain Without End" is such a magnificent albeit overlooked album. How so many people haven't heard it is a crying, bordering criminal, shame.
I love this song!!! The whole album is just magnificent They only did this style with death growls for a couple of albums but it’s my favourite era of their material This album also has the excellent song Day which is more low key and clean… I can highly recommend that one
Now you have to go even further back to their first album from 1992 which is a doom masterpiece. It’s with Jonas Renkse, original and current singer, on vocals. Why Åkerfeldt stepped in on this record and following EP was because of Renkse’s sore vocal cords if I’m not mistaken. I would suggest Gateways to Bereavment. Awesome! More melodies and more different sections. That goes for that whole record.
Like Opeth they have evolved their music very much tru the years. I suggest you pick a song from a newer album aswell to compare it to the more doomy heavy sound they go by now. Author from their latest album is awesome.
I had really confused feelings when the first Katatonia stuff I listened to was July and their newest album from this year and I liked it, then I listened to this and liked it too. Not sure what I want this band to be.

It was actually Mikael Akerfeld singing on this album.. I think he also did the production... this was my first CD 20 years ago.. :D
