I’m new to jazz. I don’t know too much about the progressions just yet. I was sitting here playing around with some arpeggios and thought I had discovered some melody for a new song. Then I realized it’s just a 2516. I had never heard of a 2516 before this but the way the notes are laid out on the fretboard it makes complete sense.
I think one day this will potentially be my first guitar solo content, last night I started practicing improv again, for almost an hour... thanks for freeing the license, I'll be subscribing forever

New to Improv. What scales can I run through these? Is A minor and C major scales the only scales I can play? How can I relate the chord changes to other scales to make it sound more interesting if possible
I'm a beginner but, you can use each chord scale avoiding notes that are too dissonant to the c major. For example you can use that f# as 7th of g7 and it can sound cool.

I mostly played with 9th or 13th. Dm9, G713or b13, em7, A7b7, sometimes C#dim7 instead of A7.

A7 is a secondary dominant chord. It acts as a V chord to the Dm7. A7b13 sounds very nice as well because of the common tone with Dm7
