But cinematic success is nothing new for Quentin - ever since his first feature 'Reservoir Dogs', he's been inspiring other filmmakers with his killer dialogue and stylistic flourishes.

Finally, a decent interviewer for Tarantino.
one of the greatest interviewers ever
Nah he talks to much and has curious body language
Jackie Brown is amazing! One of his best films, mainly from his ability to direct and shape characters! I just wish more of his films were this in depth
Sam Davies indeed.
He seems like a really respectable guy, very polite, unless he's being attacked like that interview with "Jan" haha
He obviously oboes how to handle annoying interviewers
"Because it's so much FUN, Jan!"
Haha! Yes, Quentin is a friend of mine and is so very polite, a gentleman, and just as badass as you expect him to be. Some of those "Jans" in the world give him a hard time, but because they are very sheltered, or closed-minded. The world is so lucky that QT has always ignored those types and stick to his guns.
sorry to be so offtopic but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account?
I stupidly lost the account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
@Taylor Aron Instablaster =)
We love to critique and compare all of Tarantino's movies to Pulp Fiction... but honestly, that's not fair. To say that he's "never been the same' is ridiculous. You're not supposed to go to one of his movies and say "OK, Pulp Fiction is the standard that has been set. It must be as good or better or else it's mediocre." You sit down and you watch the movie. Then you ask yourself, "was I entertained?" And you probably were.
I wasn't judging his movies in the context of Pulp Fiction.
I was judging them in the context of themselves, as an independently existing thing and THEN comparing this judgement to a similar one I had made for Pulp Fiction.
And merely asking yourself "was I entertained" makes judging a work of art sound like judging a toaster or a vacuum cleaner.
RHYS PEREGRINE In the end, you are entitled to your opinion... but I've thoroughly enjoyed all of his films that I've seen. When I said "was I entertained", I don't mean that should be the only question you ask yourself, but we go to the movies to be entertained.
I love kill bill over pulp fiction
***** when I wrote that I hadnt seen Pulp in years, I watched it a couple days ago and forgot how much I loved it. It stays fucking great. Kill Bill stays top, but Pulp Ficion definitly close second.
123987username I'm not trying to start an argument, I just genuinely don't understand the hype behind kill bill, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and to each their own, everyone likes different shit, but i personally can't stand films when one person destroys an army of people, something that i used to thoroughly enjoy as a kid, now I tend to enjoy films that are based on realism, something that i can imagine happening in the real world, or shit that actually happens in the real world, this is my opinion once again, I was hoping one would shed some light. For example i absolutely love tv shows like the sopranos, and the wire because of the realism behind it.
I think it's that you grow to love the person who makes the piece of art so much that you feel like they're a friend, and when they release something, you are going to enjoy it no matter what. And I love that.
Brilliant man. Brilliant. I admire both his intelligence and his courage.
We all have a dad that loves quentin tarantino
Omg yes I know right
So true! My Dad took me to see Kill Bill when i was 9 lmao
Or an older brother
flying4cows16 I love him my slef but my dad somehow does not :/
+flying4cows16 or a 15 years old who likes movies in general =P
Will Smith doesn't have that ratchetness. It was a perfect cast the way it is. Great Film
HighGrade Bud Will Smith is better looking than
Too good looking really,I think it would have been beneath Will to play an illiterate filthy slave as Django is portrayed in the beginning.....
The "whole world" did not decide slavery was immoral. White people decided slavery was immoral and worked to abolish it world-wide. Slavery still exists all through-out Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
Hodor
lol yeah well white people decided it was immoral when slaves started to fight back...yeah.
Walder Hodor Sorry about last week buddy.
lawls12 Ho Hodor :(
Walder Hodor "There's a big man! He's got giant's blood or I'm the queen!" "HODOR PUT SOME CLOTHES ON"
George is such an amazing interviewer.
Reservoir Dogs was an appetiser and Pulp Fiction was a genuine masterpiece.
Apart from that he hasn't been the same since.
All of his films have moments of brilliance though and I always look forward to his next one.
If any of his subsequent films are up there with the first two then yeah, it's that one.
I think Jackie Brown is his best work.
"As far as film schools go, it was pretty cheap."--(On his first film) -- I love finding out that he sees making his first film as film school. I'm glad to know I'm not the only filmmaker who thinks their first film wasn't the best, but you can use it as a learning experience. :) Not that I'll ever be where he is, but it's good to see his growth and hear about that growth!
show me another filmmaker that is that good at doing cinematic reminiscences. doing his own spin, dialogue that doesnt seem forced ..
dont worry i'll wait.
sure there are some flaws in Django but QT still is a fucking genius when it comes to the movies.
When someone use his hands while talking and find it hard to explain with words, that person is defiantly make a brilliant director.
Reservoir dogs is his master piece, followed by pulp fiction and finally django.
My absolute favourite of his is Deathproof. Hands down.
Top three = Reservoir Dogs, Inglorious Basterds, Pulp Fiction.
***** best troll right here
I love you Tarantino! You are my inspiration!! :)
now this is a good interview! ;)
A very talented writer, director and overall storyteller. His work is always inspiring.
Tarantino is the greatest living film director. He. Does. Not. Do. Bad. Films. Every film release is a major event because they happen only every few years and they are always masterpieces. Starting with "Reservoir Dogs" and right up to "Hateful 8" he never falters.
sooooooooooo happy this is on here i missed it
this host is awesome i love watching him
Great job from both of these legends in their fields. Smart, grounded and progressive.
I love you Quentin!|!! Cheers from Rome!!
at 2:24 he talked about Jamie and his horse in the same manner as Bill talks about superman's clothes in Kill Bill 2.
hilarious that QT says he has no interest in remaking everything, yet almost everything he does is a mash up of older movies, and in some cases (Inglourious Basterds, and Django Unchained) he has used titles of older films. So yeah, he has no need to remake any one film, because every time he makes something, he is remaking 100 films.
He is actually pretty open about that. In an interview for Jackie Brown in 1997, Quentin was asked about the concepts of his films and in reply, stated this: "I steal from every movie ever made" However I would not say that he "remakes" all of his films, defined, a remake is a more recent version of an older film - Tarantino doesn't 'remake' films, he 'adapts' them, making them more universal and ubiquitous - after all, there is a reason QT has had so much sucess with only seven films, anyone can just remake a film, but he has the ability to add so much more.
If You Steal From One Author, It’s Plagiarism; If You Steal From Many, It’s Research
You can see George was trying to not laugh when Quentin does the peace sign at 1:21
django unchained was the best movie I've seen in years. It's the first movie along with one other I wanted to sit down and watch the entire thing in maybe 5 or more years.
Excellent..this man is a GEM
If Django was made 15 years ago it would've been Samuel L Jackson playing Django. That would've been amazing. Kudos to Jamie Foxx though.
I love this interview.
What he said about modern day slavery (prison system / drug wars) pretty much left me in awe. Great guy.
I like how this interviewer doesn't interrupt Quentin like so many other Rude interviewers.
fuck the old boy remake would have been way better if Quentin made it! spike lee fucked that movie up!!!
I haven't seen it but Spike Lee can fuck up any movie with his race baiting demeanour.
funny how spike lee said it was going to be deferent than the original it was all the same expect for one small thing!
Spike Lee sucks ass!! The only good movie he ever made was DO THE RIGHT THING!
he's so strange and I fucking love it
+Keinbernd are you fucking kidding me. you can almost see the blow oozing from his nose.
He's Brilliant, love love love his work.
great interview. As a fellow Greek man i am biased towards loving George but he handled tarantino tremendously and definitely did his research. Did anyone see the channel4 interview with tarantino?? worst thing i have ever seen.
He is the best interviewer on TV
Someone please explain the what they were talking about when he said he wrote inglorious Basterdss and he's turning it into a book, because the movie has already came out obviously, I'm just a little thrown off
yeah great clip guys thx!
George is so mature, yet hip.
tarantino is amazing and django is a very disturbing yet beautiful movie but we shouldnt let that part of history be forgotten. In the beginning of the movie and throughout most of the movie you see slaves walking while white people ride horses. That alone should make people feel sad and im very happy this movie exist for its amazing points and its small ones.Till this day ive never seen a movie about slavery like this one and i cant wait until Quentins next movie.
Great video, so tired of interviewers sticking on 1 topic and not researching their interviewee (?) Before hand.
Yes, you are correct sir.
I love all his movies!
He did, its coming out in October.
It was such a genius move to make something like Jackie Brown right after Pulp Fiction instead of trying to top it, because it certainly wouldn't have worked if he made a very similar movie and maybe it would've even ruined the reputation of Pulp. When I first saw Jackie Brown I was kinda disappointed, thinking "Well, that wasn't like Tarantino at all". It took me years to realize how great it actually is, especially because it's very mature and a movie I could see him doing now at the age of 50, but not at that time of his life. Jackie Brown is definitely in my top 5 QT movies.
ive never heard of this show or the guy who host it but he is a great interviewer.
lmfao i fuck harrrrd with Tarantino. i fucken love that man! everything he makes is legitimate gold and even that is an understatement.
That's exactly the same thing i was thinking when he walked on the stage.
Yes! I’m late but yes!
Yes, he takes from the old and takes almost whole inspiration from past films and makers and bases his films on it.
Django was the third film of his i ever watched with the first being pulp fiction and the second being reservoir dogs and i love all three
+Oliver watson I love that one too. But the Kill Bill movies definitely top my list.
iambored678 i agree there is something about the bride's story that is just awesome
+Todd Johnson I have watched all his films except Hateful Eight. He just get's better with time :)
+Salome Njeri same except I haven't seen Jackie Brown and death proof
Todd Johnson What?! Those two are my absolute favourites!
awesome movie!!! wow! Long live Quentin!
I think what he meant was when someone automatically hugs their bag a bit tighter when you sit next to them or someone hands the check to the white guy that is with you instead of you. Where its not overt but present in a subtle way. Just my read.
That may be the overall plot theme, however there are many other themes interlaced in his films that make them all unique and incredible.
Wow! When Tarantino talks about the war on drugs, he knows what he is talking about. In fact, there is a book written by Blackmon, "Slavery by another name", that deals with the continuation of slavery even after it was supposed to end after the civil war.
The last bit by QT on slavery was brilliant.
When not shooting movies, Tarantino plays "Peeps", Bubbles' twin brother on The Trailer Park Boys. ( well, maybe not yet, but you know he could pull it off ;)
He's sly like that "Oh Gosh Umm...I guess nothing because I guess could remake anything that I wanted and the fact that I haven't answers that question"
he grew from being considered a very uncool person, a video store clerk of all things [NOT TO JUDGE I'VE DONE THE SAME TYPE OF JOBS] to be a person who helps to define cool albeit through other actors he manages to take B-movie material and transcend it into something better!!
Jackie Brown is sooo much better than Django. Hands down. This is just sad....
no it's a show in Canada, called the hour, on CBC. Only interview show I watch.
This comment thread is well reasoned and interesting, not at all typical for the internet.
Quentin had some of the basic ideas down for Basterds since before Kill Bill, so George was asking if he has anything like that right now. Just some ideas that he has yet to turn into a movie. Quentin meant that he has a brand new idea that we haven't seen yet, but he's going to complete it as a book first and then see if it can turn into a new movie.
Actually I saw it the other way around, I saw that the one who gave the freedom was Dr. King Shultz. On the scene in which he personally kills Calvin, he gives Django the option of cutting himself loose from the oppresion. Anyhow, I agree with your point of view about the similar traits of both movies, but really, in history it´s always been that way. There´s always a group of people that break the undesired tendency and then another group comes and so forth. You´re gonna see that in every film.
that link doesn't work...
CNN did give him a show actually and it bombed terribly. I guess Americans and Canadians like different kinds of broadcasters sometimes
Now Chris Tucker as Django I would of loved to of seen that.
that movie is one of the best movies of all time
i cant imagine those other actors doing the Django role...not dissing their skills at all but i think Mr.Tarantino chose wisely...
quentin puts all the talent in his chin
Is this show only on the internet?
The Einstein of film directing
God glad George is in the rear view
Tarantino is weird... but he is also such a fascinating person that keeps me watching these videos O.O
i like the interviewer
He's so right about the 'war on drugs.'
Quentin Tarantino very nice and cool
go QT!! DJANGO rocks, it's not a history lesson it's a slice history and alot of entertainment, if there wasn't alot of entertainment nobody would go see it
Good interviewer.
This was a good one
yes
That, or he is being introspective about the issue and devoting his focus to what he is saying as opposed to looking at someone. I know that I personally, when talking about heavy issues, often find myself staring at the floor. It doesn't mean his heart isn't where he says it is.
Nice to see an interview where Tarantino isn't insane.
I liked Death Proof, but it's not his best. That's his worst movie, but it's STILL better than most movies!
When he said that slavery is the stain on the US that hasn't been washed out yet you can almost see his brain thinking, 'oh yeh, eh in addition to the holocaust of the Native Americans!'
For the record and for those who might like to slate this comment, the 'holocaust of the Native Americans' isn't my phrase, it's Quentin Tarantino's.
In the name of Cochise. Amen.
He's so cool
He's a really good interviewer, almost as good as Howard Stern.
haha tarantino is particularly charming and witty in this interview
Once tarantino did a interview once that he had an idea to make a Godzilla flick. He said if godzilla took over tokyo and became a god in japan.
This is his filmography rated from best to "worst" (movies only):
Pulp > Reservoir = Jackie = Kill 1 & 2 = Inglourious = Django > Death = Sin = Grind
1:05
that wasn't in the movie!
i wanna see the uncut version so baad!
His first movie (Reservoir Dogs) is his best movie
good Answer, good Answer, I'll be watching You! that's my best Sam Kinison impersonation, I love professor Turgeson!!!
I love Tarantino
QT is really starting to resemble his character in From Dusk Till Dawn after he becomes a vampire.
Chris Tucker as Django would've been hilarious.
...because you are a REAL ARTIST...there are many real artists around the world who don´t make money ...but they keep going....because they love arts....so if it is so important for Quentin Tarantino to make VERY VIOLENT films....he would keep making the films even is they where X-rated, and the money where few....
would be interesting to see his take on the sci fi genre, and do a tarantino sci fi movie
