This was so helpful. Please continue with your videos because there aren’t a lot of slp videos. And yay I’m the first one to comment ❤️
This was extremely helpful! Keep on doing more SLP related vids 🥰🥰
I love this video. Thank you so much sharing your experience as I'm looking to get into this field nearly 10 years after getting my bachelor's. It's a scary leap of faith but I've never been more excited to learn more about something!
Thank you so much for this Q&A! Very helpful!!

I just started my graduate program and this is such helpful information. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Thank you so much for all of your helpful information! You are so inspiring! Hoping to see more videos from you soon :)
Thanks you a lot for all this information you provide :). I am planning on going back to school (undergraduate) and study SLP so your insight into the job is very helpful.
Thank you so much for this video, so concise but full of useful information!
thanks so much for this! keep up with the videos they are very helpful as i am planning on going on to slp after undergrad.
Aspiring SLP currently working as an SLPA, I love your content.
I love this so much! I am in my last semester of undergrad and we have an in-house clinic as well! Preparing for the GRE and grad applications now!
I loved your video, just subscribed! I am getting ready to start grad school and I would be really interested in knowing more about your experience during school!
Thank you so much for this❤️
Love your videos. Please start posting again.
This was very helpful and encouraging! I also got my BA in Psychology and want to go into Speech pathology. I plan to apply to the Post-bac program that my college offers and hopefully get into their grad program:) it will take a bit longer but it’s worth it!
how'd it go!
Keep on going girl 👏🏼
I’m a junior in my undergrad for CSD at Missouri State; this video was incredibly helpful! 💙
I’m thinking about going to Missouri State to do undergrad for CSD! How are the classes and professors there?
Very informative, tysm!!
Hey there. When you mentioned “shadowing”, how do you go about asking to shadow in an SLP office? I am currently in my bachelors doing human services but am leaning toward SLP instead.
Thank you! Keep the videos coming 😊. Also, more information on being a bilingual SLP.
Hi Army. Let me know any specifics. And ill be glad to answer them.
Really informative
I never comment on youtube videos but these videos are super informative!! Thank you. What was the website you mentioned to get more info on SLP?
Hi! ASHA.org
The college in my city offers a masters in slp, but not an undergraduate in communications science disorders. Im not able to move If you had to pick a best alternative, what would you pick? Thanks!
I love your channel! 💕 It’s so helpful, and I aspire to be like you :) I also had a question. In grad school did you specialize in pediatric speech pathology or is that just the job you applied for?
The degree I obtained masters of science in speech language and pathology
What was the website you advised to go on?
I’m studying to be an SLP but my husband is in the military and we move around so often
Hi!! im thinking ab studying to be an SLP here in Argentina but I wonder if its possible to get a job in other country afterwards, are there any test or something to homologue the title de fonoaudiooga?
the college i want to go to only has a minor in communicative science and disorders, what do you suggest i take as a major?
Does anyone know how hard it would be to work as an SLPA while you’re in school to become a SLP? Would it give you extra advantage/experience? Is it even possible to do this? Do they require the same basic schooling or would I have to take some new classes in order to be an SLPA in the mean time?
This video was so helpful!! I am planning on switching my major, so thank you!
You also mentioned in a comment below that your salary goes up when you complete your C's. What does that mean?
once you complete your clinician fellowship year, you no longer have a supervisor mentoring you. You then apply to ASHA which give you your CCC. Certificate of Clinical Competence

What do you think of online grad programs for speech? I am looking into them since I am 38 and need to work lol :/
Hi, I dont have much say since I personally do not know anyone who has complete an online program. Just make sure they are accredited
what was the name of the website you mentioned?
as a college freshman/sophomore what jobs or clubs would you recommend getting in to help your student resume when you want to become an SLP? Love your videos btw :-)
What made you go into SLP?
I’m currently a child development major and I still need one more year to graduate. I spoke to a counselor today and he explained everything I need to do and I’m so overwhelmed he also told me I need to take the GRE and CBEST. I don’t know what to do 😭😭
Just take one step at a time and have your timeline written out. Tackle what needs to be done first. Also some masters programs for speech pathology do not require a gre so you may want to look into that
What was the name of the website for interested called ??
I have a BA in elementary education. I am really interested in getting my masters and becoming a SLP. Do you think I am going to have to take a lot of pre reqs? Also, have you heard of any good online programs? I would ideally like to work while getting my masters if I could but I know it’s a lot of work!
Omg I’m a junior in college getting my BA In elementary education/special education and also want to get my master is SLP. I think we might have to take a lot of pre reqs unfortunately.
Great vid. I have a question about the classes. How difficult were the classes in your masters program? I was really excited about being a slp but I heard it’s very difficult to get into grad school and even more difficult when you get in. ie having no C’s. I also live in Florida (edit I’m sorry😭: 1.do you believe there are demands for slpas today? 2. Must you memorize ipa chart? thanks)
It was hard, but once you studied your butt off the information becomes long term memory and you will never forget it
hello, I'm a college student conducting a thesis and wants to make a speech-to-text device for children who have speech delays, can you spare a minute to share your thoughts about it? and if it is needed by SLP's and why. thank you so much for your time
I AM JAPANESE ST
NICE VIDEO
Can intoverts be SLPS or do u not recommend? Do u have to be bilingual. Im only intermediate spanish😫😫😫 im trying to study french and german too
There are a variety of SLP “types” you do not have to be bilingual. It all depends where you are applying and your work population
Hi there I'm interested in becoming a SLP. I'm from Ontario, Canada. I'm.a ABA therapist too. I have mild arthritis. Is it physically demanding job?
In the practice of SLP in pediatric setting at the hospital, is it possible that SLP's use stethoscope?
Stethoscopes may be used to hear patient's lungs if trained properly
Okay so you’re saying I can do is a psychology and still be an SLP?
How’s the pay?? I’m always worried that I’m working hard for low wages. I live in Jersey so I know it varies but in your opinion, is the pay worth it?
It varies by state. I know NY pays higher however living expenses are higher. Typically a starting CF earns 65,000 salary or between 45/50 dollars an hour. Once you earn your C’s pay goes up. Also depending on your setting you work st the pay varies
Mariella Mendez what’s CF? Sorry for all the questions 😬
Clinical fellowship year. It is equivalent to a doctors residency where you work get paid but have a supervisor and mentor
Alesha Dawn thank you!! 💕
Mariella Mendez oh wow I don’t know about that. Thank you!!
I really appreciate this.. I really want to do it but I'm so scared of all the student loans and not being able to make a decent living. I'm in central Florida and not bilingual.
don't be scared of it all! just have a look if there's any extra help out there or scholarships etc etc. You can do it :)
How do u juggle being a mom and being a traveling SLP
After dropping the girls off at school. I treat at the schools then clinic. Husband or parents watch them after school.
What is the difference between an SLP Assistant and an SLP? What are the different duties each do? If you can’t afford to do a Masters Program, would you recommend doing a Bachelors for SLP Assistant?
The primary difference is: SLP can assess, diagnose, create plan of care, and treat. SLPA can only provide treatment and follow the POC which their supervising clinician wrote.
do you think its harder for a male figure to get a job in SLP , since the majority in the field are females?
I believe anyone can be an SLP ❤️
When someone asks you how did you become bilingual say “ I was raised bilingual”
While you're interning did you get paid ? Thats my only draw back as a single mom
Shanice Jackson I’m in slp grad school now and I did not get paid for my medical or school based externships. And they were like full time jobs. We all basically worked for 8 hours and then had night classes. Not only did I not get paid but since it’s part of the program I had to pay to take this 7 unit clinic course lol. I opted for an affordable state school and took out loans. But we will have job security so we can pay off our loans ASAP! Good luck!
@@21rosexoxo hello beatriz! Which school did you attend to? :)
Admire how you call them children not kids.
can man become SLP?
