  • We review the E-Twow S2 GT Electric Scooter. This electric scooter is the perfect commuter scooter being super lightweight, having a large-sized motor, and packed with features. It's great getting around cities, climbing hills, and storing in compact places. If you don't have a good electric vehicle yet, I would highly recommend the E-Twow.

    The E-Twow! It stands for Electric Two Wheel :) My original commute scooters were Booster models. They have thousands of miles on them and were great. I just got used to heavier scooters and wanted the power. The GT has a great combo. For those saying this is a copy of the Zoom Stryder have it backwards. The E-Twow was the original.

      Awesome, thanks for your insight here! I definitely like the t-twow and think it would make a great commuter complement to owning a monster scooter.

      @@AlienRides Another thing that makes the E-Twow even more portable...once folded you can hold it by the rear wheel and trolley it around. I always thought with just a bit more power the Booster would be one of the best commuter scooters around. The GT looks like that is the realization of that ask :) I just have too many scooters these days. I still have both my E-Twows as they are still running.

      Thanks, this hill is not nearly as extreme as Marty's hill, but it's a good test for smaller commute scooters. I would like to find as big of a hill around the SF bay area once these scooters start to conquer the hill a bit better.

    If i didn’t already have a scooter that weights 48 lbs, does 22 mph, 20 miles, with dual spring suspensions i would consider this e-twow s2 gt as a first scooter. But i will wait for a performance commuter weighing 50 lbs (2 staircases), do 30 mph and 30 miles, under $2k, i think it’ll be a long wait (2 years?)

    Great review! How do you think this compares to the SPEEDWAY MINI 4 PRO? I know the mini pro is slightly faster but also a bit heavier. I'm trying to decide between the two as far as which will hold up better over time and has better reliability. Warranty, portability, maintenance, ride quality, build quality, acceleration, tires, features, customer service, etc. are also some of the things I'm looking to compare. I would really appreciate your feedback or any additional comments you would like to make. thanks!

      Hello! Thanks for stopping by. Unfortunately i have not had much in-depth experience with the Speedway Mini 4 Pro, so I can only really go off of published specs. My feeling is that they're pretty similar build quality though, and should both get the job done. The E-twow is going to be slightly lighter. I guess the display and acceleration mode would be a little bit different, thumb throttle on this, vs finger on the Mini 4. Besides that I don't really know, either would do fine I think! Warranty and support should be the same, since you can get both at the same seller, who has excellent service: www.ewheels.com/alien

    It's pronounced “E-2“ or “E-Two“ and it's a romanian Company. I had the predecessor, the S2 Booster V and it was still a fine scooter. Small, lightweight, fast and agile, but a bit uncomfortable for long rides because of the small and narrow deck. I sold it because i'm not a huge fan of scooters with front motors. Now i'm using a tuned IO Hawk Exit Cross, which is absolutely identical to the chinese Tarsa T9 offroad-scooter. Not a perfect product at all. Much heavier and bulkier, but much more range and comfort. Perfect for the daily commute! Greetings from ESK8 NRW Germany. 👋

    I have both this and the boosted rev. I actually paid less for the rev on black friday... I use the etwow (read like e-2) much more because of portability. It’s by far the most powerful scooter for its weight. The only thing I don’t love is the initial acceleration, It’s progressive, you get the full power after 3-5 seconds, so it starts relatively softly, even compared to a scooter like the the nineboot ES4, which I own too, but then it becomes more powerful and faster. The rev is on another league. But it’s almost twice as heavy and has less than half the range...So.. it is more fun but not as convenient. I think everyone that has a big scooter should have a GT for when portability matters (stairs, trains, etc.).

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome, thanks for the insight from a rev owner. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal on the Rev too, congrats on the purchase. Agree about what you said about this scooter being for when portability matters, it's super compact!

    • @_Digitalguy
      @_Digitalguy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlienRides Yeah, and you know what, call me crazy, but I am also buying something in between, the dual motor etwow. The weight it's half way between the GT and the Rev and power is very close to the rev (1300 nominal) but it's as compact as an etwow (the rev it a bit too big to bring into a supermarket, shop etc. I have done it, but not ideal). And above all, it has more range than even the GT with a 21ah battery. But it's not water resistant, so I'll use the Rev when it rains...

      @_Digitalguy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sac916jared yes, its the same form factor as the E-twow V, not the GT, but with 2 motors and 2 batteries (21ah). It weighs 17kg because of that, but is as compact as the etwow V. It does not have a bit more acceleration, it has a lot more... It's a little beast. However it's sold exclusively in Spain and I had to import it from Spain with the shipping and customs costs that go with it.... I

      @sac916jared 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@_Digitalguy Oh wow that's really interesting, thanks for the reply. Sounds like a rad version of this scooter, a shame it's only available in Spain. Seeing as you also own an ES4, would you rate the acceleration of the GT as comparable to it? I had an ES2 as my first ever scooter, and thought it was fine, but then got the extra battery to turn it into an ES4 and was very pleasantly surprised with the improved acceleration. I'm still considering upgrading (or rather sidegrading, I guess) to this E-Twow GT due to the form factor and the slightly higher top speed, but I don't think I could go back to something with acceleration that's more sluggish than my current ES4.

    Thanks that hill climb test solidified my choice to get an EUC for my commute. I live in SF and if I can't climb these hills with a PEV it's pointless, I just assumed all ES could climb these hills I guess because I currently own a OneWheel PINT and even that can do these hills no problem

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      EUCs are awesome for sure. For super steep hills though, a dual motor scooter always beats my EUC, so it's just relative to the size and weight I suppose. Have you tested your Pint up California street? I'm curious how that does.

      @MrSpeedFrk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlienRides yes I live in that area , I haven't ridden California that length but I have the steep sections and it does it pretty easily, I can be at a dead stop on the incline and it can accelerate
      The ECs that you are talking about are way to heavy for portability. I pre-ordered the V8F from InMotion but was considering an ES it needed to be light weight enough too be portable though. Looks like that combination of power+portability is still not available in the ESs a available today

      @MrSpeedFrk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlienRides I did a longer ride along California this morning on the Pint from California & Davis up to Powell
      The Pint handled the entire climb with ease and very little battery consumption. For reference, I'm 155lbs but in addition to that I had on some gear and a backpack, the Pint did it so easily it probably could have handled another 30lbs
      The only downside to the Pint for me is handling the busy intersection crossings with lots of people and where the sidewalks have those short narrow dips that creates the bottlenecks. Having to dismount and mount and navigate those sections is the only reason I'm looking to the V8F as it can handle more bumpy curbs etc. + the additional speed
      Besides that the Pint is super fun and nimble, if it wasn't for the points I mentioned I would totally be fine with it, I don't think the EUC will be as fun as the Pint is. It definitively deserves props

    Great review! Coming from an M365, this looks like a pretty solid package to upgrade to. My only gripe would be the brakes and the tire traction on the roads in SF. • @AlienRides

      While I think the tires and brakes get the job done here for a commuter scooter, I don't think you're going to be able to compare them to pneumatics and disc brakes. You're going to slide a little bit more, and you might need to use the rear stomp brake on steep hills, but it should do the job for most use cases. I have ridden the zoom stryder which is obviously a tweaked rebrand of an e-twow but an earlier version with less power. Overall I found the electronic braking to be utter garbage, the manual brake on the back clumsy and the ride pretty bad, steering column not rigid enough at all quite wobbly, and acceleration jerky. Also the handle bars are not far enough apart making it more unstable. Actually massively preferred riding my m365 even if less powerful. When it came to braking, acceleration smoothness and subtlety, ride and stability the m365 at 1/3 or less of the price blows these e-twows out the water. Portability, low weight and collapsible handle bars are really the only thing that makes these scooters attractive. The Raine scooter that is currently on kickstarter looks far more interesting

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Raine scooter is interesting, but they don’t even mention motor or battery specs in the description, I think a lot of people are going to be upset when they either don’t ship, or ship basically a 365 or worse. I found the brakes to be pretty decent on the e-twow, so I think the stronger motor helps there. I’m glad you have a scooter you enjoy.

      @@AlienRides They mention all specs on kickstarter. 750W+ brushless hub motor. Battery: Li-on 48V 500-600WH japanese cells. They are quoting a range of 25 miles and top speed of 31 m/ph with a weight of 12kg. Same weight as Etwow. But over twice the power, twice the speed and twice the range of an m365 also at a similar weight. Its also much more expensive so I think highly unlikely will be anything like an m365. The suspension looks amazing plus carbon fibre/aluminium build and disk brakes. From my experience electronic braking is just vastly inferior to disc braking combined with electronic ABS/regenerative, I was surprised tbh as i thought the stryder would be far better than the m365 on that front but was very disappointed. Raine also already have many working models of this scooter, its already been fully developed and huge support financially, cant see it not being delivered, although you never know. The power to weight to range ratio looks amazing though if they can deliver, best spec on paper ive seen of any scooter at this weight class. The boosted rev for example may be more powerful but is over twice as heavy and a lower top speed and from what i have heard the range is awful, like 10/11 miles tops and very expensive.

      @@AlienRides Yeah me too, prob worth seeing the verdict when/if the reviews come out, sadly be a load more expensive after that though. Just very hard to find a low weight machine with decent power, good braking/suspension/range etc at a reasonable price

    Is the 700 W nominal power? If so what is peak power?

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe 700 watts is nominal power, I’m not sure what peak is but I will try to find out.

      700 is nominal, but there is no official information on nominal power, my retailer said they estimate it at around 1000w

      😂 that’s true, and I totally forgot to mention that in the review. Folds up nice and compact though so it’s not super necessary.

      It comes with a kick stand on the 2020 model, and a physical rear drum brake, same price. I ordered one it was backordered a few weeks and got a coupon code as a pre orders. 999.99 shipped

      Similar, but I think that this scooter has more power than the Stryder. Both would make for excellent commuter scooters.

    this scooter is more suitable for children than for adult

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hah, it is on the smaller side, and I also make it look tiny, but it's quite powerful. I think some adults may end up choosing this over a Dualtron Spider for example just because how portable it is. (It's not a crazy racer like a Thunder or Rion though that's for sure)
