    Important to note is that Etwow is maintenance free and uses a high quality battery. I did over 2500km on my booster V without any issue or service. In fact I would still be riding if it weren't for the thieves who stole it from me.

    I'd much rather have the solid tires. I bought my first scooter with air-filled after hearing so many reviewers say how much more comfortable they are, but they aren't. And I had a flat, which was a huge PITA to fix, but I fixed it with a solid tire, and it's so much better now.

    Obviously biased review. I own this scooter and get 25mph (gps confirmed). I also have never had an issue with braking or a desire for air tires. No traction problems or a fear of it. Definitely not dangerous like you claim. Hill climbing is also much better than you claim. Range as well. Weird review.

    Thank God for tubeless tyres! one of the numerous reason to buy E Twow!. Otherwise you will have to change a flat tyre on the front wheel on a regular basis as they puncture all the time, its nigthmarish . If you want a high quality, durable and portable scooter, under 12Kg, with GREAT suspension and also very fast, there is just nothing that comes even remotely close to an E Twow,. i do find them slightly overpriced and the waterproofing should be better, but i do think that a 400 euros Xiaomi is really overpriced considering how heavy, slow, and poor quality they are...they also lack the most important feature
    : SUSPENSIONS , ( I have a E Twow Monster 2018 with 3500km that goes close to 40km/H, the built quality is impressive and needed very few servicing, (obviously i replaced the battery and the tires after 2500 KM). If you don't care about portability , there are better performing models than E Twow for the same price range, but they are heavy!

    Really strange review. I have very different experience with my GT2020. It easily pulled me up a very steep hill, and I weight 103 Kg. Also, mine has cruise control, and unlock speeds etc. You even have a video about how to access it in the menu (I was wrong video), you need to activate it first. And it doesn't rattle as much either as yours did.

    • @aragorn318
      @aragorn318 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      How's the suspension on that? The wheels are so thin, do you have to slow down for potholes? Have you ridden other scooters to compare it to?

    • @MrDLYouTube
      @MrDLYouTube 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aragorn318 The suspension is fine, it doesn't really give a smooth ride if your are riding on a bumpy surface you will have a constant vibration under your feet. But whenever hitting small bumps here and there they absorb it.
      The wheels are thin, but from what I've seen they are no more thin than other solid wheels.
      I don't have a huge scooter experience. Only tested out the rental ones in my town which are from Ryde.
      I've never needed to slow down when driving over potholes. But I do slow down when needing to get up a curb...but then again I'm in my 40s, so I'm perhaps overly cautious. :D Any shallow curb at 2-3 cm I can just "slam" into to drive over no problem but I don't do that at full speed.

    I own the GT2020 for about a week now. The only downside I see so far is the fact that it has an unbalanced throttle lever. If you want to go for example with 27km steady, you press the lever 100% and when you reach that speed you release the lever a little (to 80% for example), you can maintain that speed. If you want to go with 12km however, the lever at the beginning doesn’t have a way to adjust (for low speeds). If you press the lever at 5% it starts accelerating and when you reach the speed, if you release it to 2% the engine stops and is very hard to find the 3-3.5% needed to keep that speed. Try to maintain a 12km speed with a GT 2020 to check for yourself

    • @valentinozuzzi

    I own the GT 2020. I must have a totally different scooter because I get 22+ miles of real world range. I weigh 175 lbs. Flat roads, low wind and I only use regenerative braking.
    In my view, there is no comparison to the Xiaomi or any other Chinese owned garbage out there. It's simply unbeatable for a commuter scooter. The solid tyres are a blessing when you see the number of Chinese scooters with flat tyres but they do wear when you burn rubber rather easily.
    You nailed it when you said there really is nothing else that's quite as powerful and light. And that combination is what makes this scooter lethal!

    Got 1 and rode in NYC, the electric left break, is a really dangerous break. Every time i try to use the left break, it jerks the scooter and I was riding about 8 mph. The rear drum break feels much safer to use. Also at 1 time, I rode on top of a manhole, the whole scooter came off my feet. I was somewhat scared riding it in Manhattan. It feels like they put so much power in such a small scooter. Only really good perks I can think of is that, it is light, for I live in the 5th floor without any elevator.

      I am thinking about one for the City. 2 months later, How do you feel about the scooter now. Any better? I have a Glion Dolly so I am very accustomed to solid tires. But it is much slower than the E-Twow GT.

    • @tungtom
      @tungtom 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      DMM Tech so far, got hit by cab and almost got hit by another car. It does not handle any kinds of pot hole well and it also skids on wet streets. Only real complaint is that it is not a sturdy built.

    • @DocMicrowave
      @DocMicrowave 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tungtom Almost getting hit by a car in NYC is basically part of Scooter life here in NYC.
      Potholes and wet streets I am well familiar with on my Glion so I know to be extra observant of road conditions and weather. Taking it easy as needed.
      Not being a Sturdy build would be concerning to me. As long as it doesn't feel shaky or like it is about to fall apart at speed, it should be ok.
      I would be concerned about the braking though. I here mixed messages about it's stopping power at high speeds.
      I was trying to decide between the Turbowheel Swift, the Freeride Horizon and the E-TWOW. With the Swift being my first choice. Horizon second.
      Unfortunately it seems like both are either out of stock or just discontinued. That leaves the E-TWOW.

    • @hec231
      @hec231 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DocMicrowave those happened to be my top 3 choices as well. Shame about the Swift, as it checked all the boxes for me, and at a very good price to boot. Did you end up getting anything yet?

    • @DocMicrowave
      @DocMicrowave 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hec231 Yes! Last week I ended up buying the Apollo City. It is a Zero 9 variant. In fact it is exactly a Zero 9 with different color highlights (blue instead of red) and of course different branding.
      I kinda went out on a limb ($200 more than expected) to get it since the Zero 8 variants (Swift, Horizon) were sold out. The seller, Apollo Scooters, had a promotion. $100 less than the Zero 9, and an extra $100 worth of any accessories you want. The 'City' actually as a slightly more powerful motor than the Z8's and real front and rear brakes.
      I am definitely loving the ride. Coming from a Glion Dolly, it feels like riding on a pillow.
      It's quick and nimble, has a great lighting system, and can take the same mods and accessories as the Zero 9.
      One thing I was looking for in the Z8 variants was that solid rear tire. Riding the Glion I never worried about a flat. I miss that confidence. Now I am paying extra special attention to what I roll over.
      They do have a solid tire replacement for the Z9. I am probably going to buy it for the rear weal, since that is apparently where the most flats occur on these things. I shouldn't be giving up too much in ride quality because of the suspension.
      Hopefully that will put my mind to rest about getting a flat while still getting a great ride. It has a rated top speed of 25 mph, but I have gotten it close to 28mph after a full charge.
      So I think I'm good to go for now. Daughter is already after my Glion.

  • @JamiePineappleWyatt
    @JamiePineappleWyatt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Sounds like for top speed the just lifted the motor and looked to see how fast it spun freely... sadly common technique from the early ebike days
    You really are not a heavy rider, so that’s why I believe this to be the situation
    Also to make your braking tests more fair and realistic (no one slams the brakes on and skids to a stop) would be to modulate the brake so that there is no rubber or dragging, only persistently optimal braking pressure just like a common user usually would.
    It’s not unrealistic as all vehicles wether it be a car, moto, bicycle etc this is the case unless you’re actually trying to do a skid.
    Hope this reduces the stopping distance for a lot of your tests as even with heavier scooters, and only a foamy rear (the Dragon GT) I can stop nearly on a dime at 3m max stopping distance from 30km/h with only a drum brake and the motor is on the same wheel as the brake, so ebrake doesn’t help much at all and it was able to stop from 26km within 1m if you leant back properly.
    The way we know this is by the density of rubber left behind on the pavement, you’ll notice that naturally the best stopping time had the least amount of rubber left behind due to more efficient braking
    Even an air filled Tyre, foamier or the fancy bulletproof crap would have flats if you did that to it, that wasn’t a very fair test of that scooter. You wouldn’t peg down the foot brake on a kickscooter(no power kids thing) to stop either messing you’re wheel up like that.
    On the other hand, I totally agree with you when it comes to wet riding, solid wheels really suck, just don’t do it, you will have a very bad spill eventually because your scooter slid out from under you.
    Warranty wouldn’t even cover that kind of abuse to be frank.
    I’m sorry man, you really didn’t like this scooter and it got in the way of an unbiased review, unfortunate as I usually like yours a lot! But I would suggest buying these and limiting them to 25km/h street legal scooters instead as that’s why they’re really designed for with solid tyres. That’s the speed their grip pretty well tops out
    Shit what was that price!!
    Is that USD man?
    (Sorry if I sound like a doucher, these are genuine questions and statements and I’d love to hear your input on them)
    It also sounds like you’re crushing hard on that gotwe? ;) I saw it and omg I’m in love (but won’t do it, I’m unko and I would die)

    Even the Booster V was a M365-Killer IMO. E-twow Scooters are nice, but there are some drawbacks. The handlebars are way too narrow and im not a fan of front driven scooters. 8 inch tubeless tires are also a torture. Even with suspensions ... I definitely prefer tubed tires and rear or dual driven scooters. But all in all, the Booster V was a nice commuter. I replaced it to a 500W, 48V IO Hawk Exit Cross (Tarsa T9). Much heavier and bulkier, but much more comfortable. I disabled the speed limit and now it runs almost 30 kph and its very close to real world speed. I own both Xiaomi M365 and Etwow Booster S. I can tell you that Xiaomi is a piece of junk. Etwow's mobility and handling is much better than Xiaomi. It is easy to carry and you can actually push the scooter with one hand after you fold it up. Xiaomi is heavy and it is hard to carry. You won't be able to push it with two hands after you fold it up. The size is too big. I can carry the Etwow on the bus and Subway easily. U will find it pain in the axx to carry a Xiaomi around. Also, Etwow can be easily lifted up to small steps at high speed. It is dangerous to do the same thing on Xiaomi m365. I sold the Xiaomi and I love my Etwow Booster S. The solid tires are not that bad. I have no problem riding it at high speed. No tube tires, please. I think rookie loves Xiaomi m365.

      It's the ATGATT rule, it doesn't need to be a rocket, even 35 or 40 km/h is a lot, especially on the tiny full wheels he's complaining about.

    Great review.
    Portability really matters to me, but my use case includes a commute of over 5 miles (~8 km) .. and the thought of doing that on those 7 inch (!) solid tires makes me barf a little bit. The portability and power and the no maintenance solid wheels are great selling points for the E-Two .. but after seeing your review, maybe I will stick with my Levy Plus.

    Lol solid tires, 25km of range for this price? This must be Joke :D. I bought improved tires for my M365 PRO. They are thicker than original and much better compound. Now the grip is superior even in rain. After 700 km even front tire is like new one :). And with custom FW I can go 35 km/h too :). Anyway Good review man ;). Hopefully one day you will review Mantis PRO too :).

      the last thing I want is tubeless tires that puncture. Never had a problem with my zoom stryder which has solid tyres. You just have to know that there's less grip in the wet. Not difficult for a biker.
