Those zinnias Clare! Wow! If you’re seed sharing I’d love to grow some next year 🥰🤗 It’s a bittersweet moment leaving the old site, after so much work has gone in to it, but I’m excited to see the new site progress over the coming months. See you in October ❤
Grab some toothpicks and a metal tray for those snapdragons. Lick the toothpick and grab the snapdragons seed. It’s a great trick! Works great in those teeny tiny soil blocks.
You did have a fab year on the lot and yes always learning things is exciting. Help from hubby and the dog 😂 was good too so hopefully they will join you again. 2025 will be your year ❤️❤️, Ali 🇨🇦
Little Delilah has been a great supervisor and chief wood-chipper. Nick’s help lugging things up the hill cannot be underestimated, he’s happy the next plot is on level ground 😆
Nice to see you again and lovely that you are able to take some of your plants to your new allotment. I mainly grow tomatoes for the green ones as I make a Green tomato Relish passed on to me by my late mother-in-law. It a family favourite. 3lbs green tomatoes, 8 medium onions, 2 cucumbers, 1 green 1red pepper, 1 tablespoon of salt, 1pint of vinegar, 2 tablespoons of flour and one of powdered mustard, 2 tablespoons of medium curry powder and 2lbs if sugar. cut all up finely in a bowl and sprinkle with the salt and leave overnight. Strain off most of the liquid and put the produce in a pan with the sugar and the vinegar and simmer for about 1hr. Blend the curry powder flour and mustard with a little of vinegar and add to the pan and simmer for a further 1/2 hour. I usually use half these quantities and it makes about 4-5lbs. I'm a little light with the curry powder but adapt to personal taste.
@@Littlesheddiaries not sure really as it gets snaffled up as various offspring visit but we have used it as long as a year after as being a kind of pickle it stores longer than jam.
I’ve been too terrified to direct sow after the slug apocalypse this year. However, they haven’t once touched my snap dragons so maybe when I sow more in the spring I’ll try tossing them in the ground and see 😊
They are sooooo lovely aren’t they. I was going to isolate and cross pollinate them myself this year. I bagged them with organza bags before they bloomed. But I realised I won’t have long enough for them to go to seed and collect it before I have to hand over the allotment, or the frost might get them. I could always ask the next tennants if they’d be happy to leave the zinnias untouched until the seed develops I suppose 🤔 I’m definitely doing it next year because they were a silly price to buy.
I LOVE the colour of your zinnias, they are beautiful 😍

Hi Claire I like your little soil blocker, I still have not used mine😂. I hope you get the new plot sorted for next season.👌👍
Now’s the time Nick! Get going with some hardy annuals to make your plot all pretty 😊

That’s brilliant! I’d much rather spend the time and effort at the sowing stage that fiddling around trying to transplant those delicate babies 😆
Yes Ali is such a wonderful person. And has great tips to share. Thanks for sharing your video with us. Happy gardening 😊
She is a sweetheart isn’t she 💕

Thank you for sharing your family recipe, I’ll give it a go. How long does it store for?

@@goldenfd475 that’s great, I’ll make sure I sterilise the jars 😊

Save the seed from the flowers you’re growing!!
