I own such a lens and am very happy with it. It makes fantastic pictures and it's flexibility is extraordinary. Perfect for shots in the mountains, where I can cature the whole scene or just one mountain top. The lens is indeed very heavy and for a longer shoot I would recommend a tripod or monopod for your support. After all it's a very flexible and fine lens and the image quality is really good!
Great review, I shoot professionally and I have ordered this lens and will be using it with my 5D Mark IV. As far as weight I'm used to it. It will be a welcome addition to my other lenses. The only cravat I have is the barrel zoom, however I am impressed with the focal range in one lens. I have been a Canon man forever and I have to say, Well done Canon!!! PS to Ugly Boy nice beast Man, that one will be my next step
Good review. The "cons" are not deal breakers. This lens requires understanding what the lens is capable of doing and how to make adjustments to achieve the desired results.
Great for video work where you can go from miles away to up close and tight within seconds and with smooth zooming throughout! Got to get one! Going to sell my other two 'L' series lens to get this monster!
It's slow, heavy, big and soft just like me. Using it on my 70D. When you turn the focusring the "smooth-tight" ring turns also. Only annoying thing I can think off. I'm curious if it will work with an adapted Sony A7III?
I am thinking on buying a 28300L for my EOS R, but exactly as you suggested, this may be dead slow and noisy (because of the AF motor on dual-pixel) on EOS R especially for video.
This stays the lens of my dreams, whenever I have the money I will get it and use it all the time xD But I will probally also buy other lenses for the night and/or more specialised photography.

I love this lens too. Nice review. Did you try to fit a different lens hood? Hahaha
Thanks for a fantastic review. I'm about to get this for my 1D mark III. It would become a 36-390mm on that body.
Again .Nice Beast. Yeah you have the best and I'm happy for you.
Fantastic sideline lens for any field sports...
Thank you.
does it work with a tele converter
It does - but you're very likely to lose auto focus.
Brown Iverson No.
@@1yackers No! I own such a lens and it does NOT work with a teleconverter!
