- Now that my car is working I am finally able handle the logistics of Kayaking. I go to Laonong River to try out some Class II and Class III rapids.
Wade Teaches me the basics of navigating the river, and rafting vocabulary.
The Tongue: Where the white water comes together into a V. This is the deepest part of the river, and the easiest places to float through.
Pillow Rock: A rock that is just barely under the water. These rocks pose a danger because if hit sideways, they can roll the boat.
Foot Trap: Getting your foot caught under a rock in fast moving water. If you fall out of the boat, immediately lay back on your lifevest, orient your body so that your feet are facing downriver, lift your feet out of the water so that you can see your toes, and use your hands to push left and right to avoid rocks and obstacles, and get yourself to the edge before attempting to stand up.
