After 24 years, I still can't hear How to Disappear without getting goosebumps. And it hits so hard in the context of the record with the first three tracks being so frenetic and fun. It reminds me of a manic period followed by the gut-punch of depression.
This album is just so thematic and absorbing. The more I've listened to it, the more Kid A has become one of my favorite songs too. I'll join the chorus of commenters saying In Rainbows is a must-listen, it's just so good
"In Rainbows" "In Rainbows" "In Rainbows"....- ya gotta do the tri-fecta now....'OK Computer' is my favorite, 'Kid A' is their greatest artistic work, but 'In Rainbows' is where they hit their peak of creation, song writing and musicality - and is IMO their best most pleasing musical work though I still love 'Ok Computer' the most). Those 3 albums (and the other 6 are extraordinary) are each so different but all absolute masterworks. "In Rainbows" is probably the easiest to just fall into immediately - they hit their stride as creators and execute at the highest level they have ever done yet (they aren't over yet!). You will be SO GLAD you listened to it - I really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing, and do yourself the favor of checking out their 3rd Titanic masterpiece and maybe most perfect album. "Kid A" is unlike anything made before it and probably that will ever be made after ever....sort of like "Dark Side of the Moon." Thanks! Peace//
Loved your reaction - at the time it came out I found it too much and struggled with it, but now I love it. Keep going with their albums including the Bends right through...
Definitely think Kid A is their masterpiece. It's all subjective and it's also by far my favorite radiohead album. Never enjoyed in rainbows like the younger crowd seems to.
It took me something like 15 years, but I finally got In Rainbows. Reckoner is an all-timer, 15 Step is an incredible opener, and Nude soars to great heights. Not a bad song and their most concise album. The first seven tracks will never cease to amaze me. It and Kid A are the ones I turn to these days if I want to hear An Album.
I only truly got into Radiohead's discography last year as I listened along with the series What Is Music who were going from album to album. Growing up I loved OK Computer but i always heard the legacy of this album and the whole "greatest left turn" story. I tried giving the album a chance a few years back and by time I got to Kid A, I had to switch it off as it just freaked me out a bit too much as a teenager which is strange given my heavy music preferences back then. My favourite band is Nine Inch Nails However in preparation for the podcast reaching Kid A/Amnesiac, I finally forced myself to listen to the album front to back a few times. It took a while but it eventually clicked with me and I absolutely love the album and the story behind the making of both Kid A and Amnesiac. The standout track for me is of course Motion Picture Soundtrack which I fell in love with from first listen. There is a video of a band peforming the song at the funeral for one of their fallen members and the arrangement is just so beautiful its hard to explain without hearing for yourself.
I liked this as much as you did. Wait until you hear how experimental wish you were here is. I bet you have heard atleast the title track wish you were here though. But this was my first time hearing this album with you and it was a pleasant experience
@@rjisasavageand I will continue to support you . Ever since your white album reaction I have been watching and I consider the time that came out to be one of the best feeling times of my life and Everytime I think about it I always remember watching your video and I think your energy to music and attitude really helped me through rough times to make it some of the best times. I don't think it would have been the same if I didn't find you and your channel so for that I thank you
I've listened to all of their albums now after this reaction video getting me into radiohead and i can say you've got a big and great journey ahead! For Radiohead
I remember when I first listen to this album and I didn't get it at first, it was very abstract and experimental for me back then, but now I love it Motion picture soundtrack best song ever :)
I remember returning the CD to hmv ..... A week later I couldn't get this tune out my head.... It was everything in it's right place....I went back and bought it again 😂
Although many fans would say that KID A is better off not being remastered but they still should’ve remastered it OR AT LEAST put out the demos for the 20th anniversary. KID A (specifically How To Disappear) is the best thing to take a long shower to. It’s so tranquil and cozy.
Great reaction! You should listen to amnesiac next because its like the b side to this. Radiohead is such an interesting band and albums like ok computer, kid a and in rainbows are as amazing as the pink floyd albums from the 70s
@@austinmucciante3108 dude same!! Pigs is just slapping soo hard and dogs and sheep is also just *chefs kiss*... I think he reacted to dsotm already but we'll see
Thank you for watching! I definitely want to dive even further into their work. So far 2/2 on albums. And I will be doing more Pink Floyd albums, specifically The Wall!
For a more rock sound from them, their first and second albums stand out. However, even the second album, which is a must-listen, was quite unique and experimental for a rock album at the time imo.
I have a great recommendation for you. It May not be what many people want or what is famous or well known but it fits the criteria that you really enjoyed on this album very well... the album is called Mirage - Camel. It is a beautiful fantasy world that has beautiful melodies that give you instant comfort while there is that discomfort, that strange sound. Both these elements parallel kid a. This is a perfect album in my opinion.
Everyone were using 60s and 70s cheap organs and synths such as PULP & Sterolab in the mid 90s. Then in 96/97 RH unveiled what synths would sound like in the 2010s…. Think about it… OKC was recorded in 96. That’s still the middle of the 90s…. It would’ve been cool if they put out a Single off of it in late 96 which would’ve cemented it as mid-to-late album rather than late 90s album.
OK Computer In Rainbows The Bends Kid A are my top 4 Radiohead albums. You definitely need to give In Rainbows and The Bends a listen back-to-back. It will round out your Radiohead experience. All of their albums are worthy of your time eventually.
Cool channel! New sub here. had the same first reaction to Idioteque lol. Just cool to see fellow creators at work making great stuff. keep groovin' your way! -mark

In Rainbows is a masterpiece
Putting on the list!
@@rjisasavagehell yes
Yes highly recomand, all their albums are amazing either way
Yeah, I would say In Rainbows is their most easily digestible for the average music listener and definitely one of the best albums of all time imo.
In Rainbows. Especially the Live from the Basement version.
