The GR5 Highlights from Lake Geneva to Nice

This is a short video showing some of the highlights of walking the 674km route through the French Alps from Lake Geneva to Nice. The walk takes approximately four weeks, but can easily be split into week or two week stages with good connecting transport. There are more GR5 videos on the Cicerone channel, each covering a one-week stage. The guidebook used was 'The GR5 Trail' by Paddy Dillon.

The GR5 actually begins at the Hook of Holland, and there are Cicerone guidebooks to cover the entire route.
Hoek of Holland to the Vosges: The North Sea to Schirmeck in the Vosges mountains:
1000km starting in Hoek van Holland and passing through the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Lorraine to Schirmeck in France.

The GR5 through the Vosges and Jura: Schirmeck to Lac Léman, and the GR53. 687km through eastern France, traversing the Vosges and the Haut-Jura plateau. The route follows the GR53 from Wissembourg to Schirmeck, before picking up the central section of the GR5 from Schirmeck to Nyon
