I really, really wish the Montreal Expos would come back (to Montreal). I loved their uniforms, just like I loved the St. Rams helmets and uniformas back in the day. Those "sealed" wrappers are so easy to open because they already were before you bought the box.
Thanks so much for doing this break. It's a great education on what to expect if you spend the money for one of these boxes. We have been so spoiled in recent years with perfectly cut cards that we forget what the hobby used to be. Take care of yourself and your family.
Watching these videos you post always bring a smile to my face. I started collecting in 1979 at the age of 7 when most of my friends were more interested in action figures. Back than you enjoyed just opening a pack in the hopes of finding your favorite player . Thank you Jabs family for your videos. It brings a smile to my heart in knowing that there is someone else besides me out there that collects cards for the love of the hobby and not just for personal gain. Keep up the great work. God bless you and yours.
I remember going with my older brother to buy 1985 baseball cards. I like going with him because he would give me all the USA team cards because he didn't think they were worth anything. It was a few years later he tried to get those cards back from me. Becuase we found out that was McGwire RC. I gave him all of the team USA card back except the McGwire. Thanks for doing 1985 Topps, that brought back a lot of good memories.
The Mark McGwire rookie card was my first baseball card EVER! My Mother bought it for me when I was 7! He was my favorite player and my Mother got this for my Birthday. That kicked off my card collecting from 87-92. Funny how one small jester morphed into a major era of my life. Thanks Mom. Love you so very much. R.I.P.
Same. Not McGwire but Rickey Henderson rookie. My favorite player. We we're on vacation and went into some random souvenir/antique type shop my mom really wanted to go into and my dad and I just kinda tailed along agreeing at how neat all the crap my mom was looking at and there was a case with some sports items and one of them was a Rickey rookie in a fancy screw case plaque. Now I was freaking out showing my dad and doing the ol I'll mow the front AND back lawn all summer if he'd get it for me. He said sorry bud it's just too much money for a baseball card. This was in 88 or 89 and I think it was around 85 bucks. Ruined my vacation. Fast forward to Christmas and what was under the tree? He must went back and picked it up on one of his cigarette runs. Best dad surprise ever
@InfamousFunkster beautiful story ❤️ aaahhh, the good old days. The older I get, the brighter they become. I'm married with a kid of my own, and I just hope I can give my child half of the joy my parents did. I miss them both dearly. Thanks for sharing, bud. Really enjoyed your story. Take care
Awesome! My favourite throw back Thursday so far! I remember opening these boxes every week. I would stop Smart & Final every Friday, payday, and pick up a box of these on my way home.
This is awesome. This is the set that got me collecting cards. I was 11 years old and I got the complete set for Christmas. Brings back some good memories.
I love all those cards feel sorry chewing gum damage some of the cards that valuable nice box break keep the good work Erik there is no one like your are best when it come baseball cards and GOD BLESS YOU.
What a throwback! I can smell the gum! This was my first year of collecting and lol my brother and his friends gave me every USA card ! Then they picked up on enhancements and the strike all value went down
Uncanny!!! Linda W...Bob S.... How can I get some of your luck??? I am flabbergasted! Great break, Erik...I have the McGwire, got it in a pack when I was a wee laddie. Never found the Clemens...but I did get my fav player (at the time...minus the Bucs), Kirby Puckett.... I loved that guy. But really didn't start to love Puckett until a few years later.... Anywho....once again, a very FUN TBT!!!!
Man I remember back in 1985 I purchased about 5 - 20 box wax cases, or should I say my mom did, throughout the year. Opening those wax cases were a beautiful thing. Would give anything to have some of those still around :)
Minus the centering those cards are in nicer shape than the topps i buy nowadays...i think the warehouse guys at walmart play touch football with boxes of cards...pulled a nice allen ginter auto the other day with a smashed corner...so bummed as it was my first ever auto pull
I honestly don’t know how one of your videos first appeared on my timeline, but I have been hooked. Having not bought any cards since 1993, I find myself looking at the cards when I am at Wal Mart. So far I have resisted but every day it’s getting tougher.
Linda W. Is doing great lately. Shows what can happen if you get into the breaks! Whenever I see Kieth Hernandez i think about when he spit on Newman and Kramer. Great video thanks buddy!
@@tommyl6667 Well he was dominant from '80 through '87 (back to back MVP) then merely good through '91 before he fell off the earth. Even had two good years in '78-'79. Probably needed a few more seasons.
Tommy L He deserves it more than a Tim Raines did. Tim Raines has no business being in the Hall. He should be in the Hall of Very Good, not the real Hall.
Loved that doc gooden rookie. It was my first single I bought when I started collecting in late 80’s. Think it was 6 bucks back then ... ah the memories. Keep up the good work jabs.
I swear, you and I (and a few of your viewers) are the only ones that love and appreciate the 80's wax packs! Most card shops that I go into and ask about 80's wax look at me like I'm crazy 😕😃!! If they do have wax boxes, they're usually on the bottom shelf, at the end, with a thin layer of dust on them. I guess the young kids love the autos, patch cards, etc.
BOMBA!!!! LINDA W. DOES IT AGAIN!!! (First to view) 1985 Topps was one of my favorite sets and I still have a few thousand of them, and yes, a lot of the rookies you were looking for!
omg haha i was watching this and the second you turned around the mark mcgwire rc and screamed "There it"- and it played an ad and you said "it is" lol
This was the first set I really got to collect. Loved them so much. I am a Mets fan because their farm team was in Lynchburg, VA. So Dwight Gooden has always been the card for me in this series. Awesome unboxing.
Hey Jabs great video! I’m a big fan of the throwback Thursday’s! I was wondering where I can go to get in on some of your breaks you do on the channel. I’ve looked around but maybe i’m just over looking it. Thanks!
I bought a mike mcgwire rookie card at a antique store for 10$ and I think it has a shot of being a psa 10 but I'm not sure I don't know if I should send it or not jabs what would you do?
Just came across this. I believe this box to be searched. Having 2 players in the same pack, the high "hits" (if a 9 or 10) being zero, no mattingly, no clemens, no puckett, no boggs, 1 mcgwire and it is no better than an 8. This is why always buy wax that was authenticated as pulled "from a sealed case" (FASC). Even then the case could be tampered and restacked but that is incredibly unlikely. If not from a sealed case they can be searched and then make to look like they were untouched and can fool the trained eye on occasion. I think this was one of those occasions
Great pull with the McGwire Rookie. For me, that would be comparable to me pulling a Griffey from the '89 Upper Deck pack. I have the Griffey but never pulled it from a pack, like all my Griffey Rookies; I either bought them singly or received them as a gift.
You make this so interesting I really enjoy watching your channel hope you are feeling well. Also I told your brother I have quite a few starting line ups and stadium stars. It was when McGwire and Sosa was crushing everything. I have to get my son to take pictures and I will forward them to you all.
Would love to see a throwback break of some 1990 Donruss, not that it is an amazing set or anything but for some reason those cards standout in my head as one of my favorite card designs to collect growing up. I know I still have a bunch of them in boxes somewhere.
This was one of your best throwback Thur breaks but i think next one you should do is go for the Don Mattingly Rookie card. I only say this cause when i started with cards in 87' i want to say cause my dad bought me the set of 87 topps and for some reason i gravitated to Donnie Baseball and he was my favorite then Co-Favorite after Jr came into the league.
Nice break Erik, 1985 was the year I began to collect cards. I got my 1st pack at Bradlees. Pulled a Gooden rookie and was hooked. Being a mets fan, I loved seeing that Gooden!
Interesting that pack where he got Rick Sutcliffe, the next card was Don Shultze, one of the players traded by the Cubs to the Indians to get Sutcliffe!
Wow you pulled one! I’ve come to a conclusion. When you break for other people you pull fire! When you break for yourself nothing lol. 89 UD as an example.

Mark McGwire is my favorite player and I still do not have his rookie. I will get it now that you helped me find my love for card collecting again.

So much fun watching you rip those packs!
Loving these old breaks. Just watched 1987 Topps as well.

Wvogs 18 me too it is awesome
85 Topps one of my favorite years to collect when I was a kid.

Jk
Sorry
Lots of childhood memories while seeing ball player names flashing by! Very Cool
I love seeing how excited your daughter gets over her gift's. She is so sweet. I have 6 great grandchildren now. Got to love them. Granny mary miller
Congrats Linda! I opened a lot of 85 topps when I was a kid. McGwire, Clemens, and Puckett were tough pulls. I had 2 of each

Cool to watch that box opened. I pulled 4 or 5 as a kid
Great set of cards, thanks for sharing!
Justin Stried yeah thanks for sharing
So fresh and so clean!! Awesome stuff
Love box breaks. Also BBCE is king of cert boxes. I had a hell of a BBCE for 80 Topps. Great content!
I thought the '85 design was a little plain when I first saw it back in the day, but it does grow on you and is a classic today. Same for the '86.
I think I saw the Puckett in there too (my mistake, I went back and watched it). I really enjoyed this one. Thanks.
I remember getting five or six packs of 85 tops and got two Mcgwire cards . I still have one of them. I sold the other one in 90 or 91 for $150.
That’s so cool to me that you got a Jamie easterly in the first pack because I personally know him!
Linda W. Is doing great lately. Shows what can happen if you get into the breaks! Whenever I see Kieth Hernandez i think about when he spit on Newman and Kramer. Great video thanks buddy!
Love the Marlboro add on that card. Good video thumbs up
That was a great video congrats on getting the mark McGwire rookie
Dale Murphy should be in the hall of fame!
If you're being generous you can give him 6 Hall of Fame years, surely a very good player but not a Hall of Fame career.

Great break, congratulations Lynda!
That was so cool. Thanks!
When did you purchase this box? Recently or were you sitting on it for awhile?
Thursdays are great for this reason!
This was the first set I really got to collect. Loved them so much. I am a Mets fan because their farm team was in Lynchburg, VA. So Dwight Gooden has always been the card for me in this series. Awesome unboxing.
Love the design of these cards
Keego's Cards Same
Expect that to be next year's retro theme.
Keego's Cards so do I.

Keego's Cards same
Loved seeing the Mark McGwire!!

that was really cool to watch! thanks.
Love the 85 Topps. I collected many cards through the 80s...good memories
Great pull. You have super powers. With the cards.
Once I seen that Linda bought a stack, it was automatic that the McGuire RC was in that stack! Congrats!! Great vid!
I absolutely love 85 Topps. I have myself the Puckett and others. No luck in pulling the McGwire tho. Great clean looking cards in this break.
Congrats Linda!!
whats the most expensive non autographed card you have
Mark McGwire and Eric Davis RCs from the same pack. Wow!
Legendary Linda! I saw her name and knew she’d get a McGuire card! Love the design of these. Hopefully Topps does an ‘85 insert set next year
Enjoyed the break. I own a complete set of 1985 Topps.
Back when I was a kid, Dwight Gooden was the card that everybody wanted from this set
And don't forget the Eric Davis..lol..awesome set from our childhood.
@@ericbudinski9924 Davis. Clemens, Gooden, McGwire felt such pride having any of those back in the day lol
