    The Eighth Heroine Statue in Breath of the Wild has been both one of the most mysterious landmarks in a Zelda game and also one of the most theorized about; but one thing not too many have asked is actually rather obvious; we can speculate about the identity of the Eighth for days, but how in the world did the giant stone sword get moved up the mountain peak from the actual statue? Or... was it moved at all? Join me to find out!

    For those who are confused about the comparing East Gerudo Ruins to the Highlands, if you look closely, the entirety of the peaks resembles the top down view of a heroine statue. You can see the top of the head, the arms, and then where the hands meet. The place where the map says "Gerudo Highlands" being the head, then pointing in a southeastern position.

  • @trinity31409
    @trinity31409 4 ปีที่แล้ว +708

    As a small extension to your theory, maybe the reason they stopped carving the statue and the sword was that it was discovered that Ganondorf had less than honorable intentions. So why finish it when there was no longer any reason to celebrate him. Then they just change the story from the eight heroines to the seven and over time no one remembers there was ever a change to the stories on the heroines. There are plenty of stories in our real world where there are facts and also a story of how it happened where the details differ.

    • @Varunic219
      @Varunic219 4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Alternative: the Yiga and/or Ganondorf purposefully "acted" while the Eight Heroine was being carved, so as to keep the statue separate, therefore representing him. Say that the Yiga/Gan. didn't exist yet, and the Gerudo just finished carving the Seventh Heroine. Now, the Yiga/Gan. appear for whatever reason and decide to "act," perhaps like a cou. By waiting till the last moment, they can keep the statue pieces where they are and separate, just like Ganondorf would be opposing what the Gerudo stand for. Now they can utilize that seperateness to gain the literal high-ground as well as the seclusion that provides secrecy. Idk, it makes sense to me 😂

    • @sephiraeferie8396
      @sephiraeferie8396 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      The only issue I have with this idea is that the Eighth Heroine has the exact same carving on her that the 7 do: The Seven Sages, repeated over and over. If she was originally supposed to be part of a collective of eight, why would her own carving seem to deny her existence?

      @@rooblixkewb7952 Considering that their difficulty rivals that of bosses, and offers even Link- a highly trained hylian soldier based on his skill with weapons- a major challenge, I'd say the Gerudo would be screwed if they happened to show up at the time of carving.
      It is worth noting that several defeated Lynel can be seen in a memory with Zelda, in the background as she treats his wounds, and this implies he defeated several of them without major injury while also preoccupied with more minor foes (again reflecting his skill in combat), but this is when he had the Master Sword and the Champion's Tunic, even, the highest defense torso armor in the game (without dlc).
      Their one advantage would be numbers, but a Lynel has incredible crowd-control potential with their large, precise weapons, multi-shot bow capable of hitting multiple targets, and resistance to the elements.
      This is never readily apparent when Link fights them, though, as 99% of the time it's a 1v1. So yeah, even Urbosa would likely be given a run for their money in a fight against them. And that's including her potential to use the same power they give Link.

    Just want to add my two cents on how to see the mountain heroine (9th heroine). Stop video at 11:26 so you can compare the shape of the statues. The statues clearly form a triangle with their arms. Across their hands is a line (hilt of the sword) that you can see for all the 7 heroines. Now look directly below the zoomed in map of the East Gerudo Ruins and a bit to the right. This is where the hands would meet to form the triangle. You can even see that the mountain has the "line" going across it like the other statues. The orientation of the mountain heroine is similar to the top-left heroine in the zoomed in map.

    The entirety of the highlands forms a triangular shape very, VERY similar to the top-down shape of the heroine statues.
    Look at the left side of the highlands. See the big straight line? Now look at the right side. See the acute angle? Now look at the mountains on the top of the highland. It almost forms a side, right? And the center peak with “gerudo highlands” it close to the position of the head, maybe.

Also if the 7 heroines are the sages, the 8th could easily be ganondorf with his sword removed. Just my personal theory!

I mean, the timeline gives plenty of span and they’re supposed to be born every century. So when we get to the tens of thousands of years, it’s just kind of odd that he’s the only one we ever know about, period. I always thought that the eighth heroine is a call to Zelda in her various incarnations. She's integral to the seven sages, and the vessel of Hylia. She's also a woman like the Gerudo, and maybe the placement of the statue faces Hyrule Castle?
    I don't know. Also I kind of thought that maybe the sword being away from the statue meant that the current vessel of Hylia was not in touch with her powers, a strangely prophetic of the carvers.

    I’m pretty sure that collapsed sheet of rocks was actually Farosh’s doing. At the Lakeside Stable, one of the NPCs, tells you the tale of the dueling peaks. That they were one mountain that a thunder dragon split to carve a path through. I’m pretty sure Farosh just carved through the rock in the Gerudo Highlands just to make a path for himself.

    • @TheChristianCountess2721

      Could be both possibilities; they made a road to go towards the statue and Farosh just went, “um, yeah, this is cute and all, but I wanna go through here”, tore down the road, and that’s part of why the statue looks abandoned; cause they thought the dragon was attacking them?

    Theory: Ganondorf was once a good guy, so the good Gerudo started building him as the Eighth, but when he became evil and the evil Gerudo turned against the good Gerudo, they stopped building because it would represent their enemy.
    As to why it's a darker color, it's probably why the 7 heroines were heroines (female), whereas Ganon was a hero (male) when he wasn't evil.

      To lend credence to this, in OoT there are six sages with Zelda being the seventh. However, in the previous games, there are seven sages with Zelda being the eighth. As well, each of the six sages of OoT were either rulers or important figures in each vassal state of Hyrule, with Ganondorf's kingdom being the exception. Maybe that's why Ganondorf is shown swearing loyalty to the king of Hyrule in the beginning of the game-the sages are being gathered.

    This is a great theory! There is one possible, well, possibility that I can think of if the sword were actually moved, and that is that it were moved by twilight. In Twilight Princess, it is shown that a powerful twilight sorcerer/royalty (Midna) can teleport large objects at will. The only issues are as to why Midna (or some other twili) would do this, and how they returned to the world of light when the mirror was shattered. However (and this is likely just an easter egg) there is a mirror of twilight somewhat near Lurelin Village. Perhaps someone recreated it or remade it, and then it was once again shattered after the twili did what they wished?

    Also consider the textures of the sword and the rock it's against. It's the same texture. I doubt it 'fell over,' they were literally carving it out of the rock it looks like it's resting on. Because if you look, the sword rests on top of the rock, and not slightly inside it (the rocks around it would be chipped and the sword slightly inside it.) So it's obvious, to me, that it was being carved from that rock itself.

    I like to believe that a battle between giants happened. All those large skulls. One ran and saw the statue and its sword and took it for the fight. Didnt get a chance to land it hit and fell down pushing the sword into the ground. The story I made in my head.
