      A few years ago, the strategy of Cathay group was that Cathy Pacific operates long haul routes with larger aircraft, while Cathay Dragon (Dragonair) operates short haul routes with smaller, regional aircraft. B787, being a mid-sized aircraft for long haul flight, lies between the requirement of the two airlines, suit neither Cathy Pacific nor Cathay Dragon. It is quite a share to be honest.

    1:06 we can fly 3 A380s carrying 500 passengers, except most 380s don't carry that many people anyway, 2 no aircraft is ever completely full and 3 you always have room to expand.

    Love Cathay Pacific, great cabin crew , on board entertainment, attention to customers needs . Great experience on the A350 and the big bonus is Hong Kong. Hahoo cant wait to do it again

    Why no mention of the B777-9? Is it a possibility that CX may replace the order or cancel it? Still, a combination of Boeing and Airbus aircraft is excellent for the fleet.

      Yes I know. But does that mean they won't potentially cancel or replace the order? But it does seem likely as CX would want to replace their aging B777-200ER and B777-300/-300ER aircraft.

      @@AEROFLIGHTXV They don't have any 777-200ERs, only 777-200s which are already in the process of being replaced by ex-Emirates 777-300s. B-HNL and B-HNB have both left and were replaced by B-HNS and B-HNU. The other three 772s left are still here. CX also just downsized their A350-1000 order and converted them to A350-900s, so they supposedly would've reduced it by more if they thought they had too many aircraft in that size range. TBH I just want to see a HKG-MIA route launch... that'd be really awesome

      Because thy want to use the A350 to replace the B777-300ER. And they buy the B777-9X because it will have first class but the A350 don't.

    I particularly like the A350’s esp it’s biz class. The Econ class is good as well. Whenever I fly I would try to book a flight on an A350.
    I would love to see Cathay to upgrade it’s obsoleted biz class seats (so call regional biz class seats) on A330 and B777.

    Flew the airline New York JFK Airport to Manila Ninoy Aquino airport back in 2005-2006. First ride with CX was september 18 2001 CX904 MNL-HKG B777-200.
    Would the Cathay Dragon A321neo fly to both Davao City and Clark Field Pampanga Province Philippines from Hong Kong?

    Please open your CXCitement or your souvenir shop in Jakarta.Indonesia is currently the leading market for toys in Asia as people here is very fond to collect a lot of things and they are not afraid to give good money for high quality stuff.I'd always order your souvenirs through official Cathay Pacific online shop but I sometimes find difficulties on how to order.If there is an CX souvenir shop,it would be fantastic!       How many hours did you have when you applied and how many were Multi Engine?

      Speedbirdys Aviation 300 hours total and 60 of them multi. Which was enough to apply as second officer for Cathay Pacific.

      maxc_20 some of the A330’s are going to Dragon, and in a long term, the remaining ones will be phased out. The regional routes will gradually be taken by the 777-300 and A350’s.

      Minecraft Creeper A350 doesnt actually compete with the 787 that much. The 787 fell out the range of what Cathay Pacific or Cathay Dragon wanted, hence it wasn’t ordered

      Simple - the 787 is too small for Cathay. Cathay doesn’t need a mid size (relatively speaking) long haul plane. They prefer the larger A350 and even larger 777. Hong Kong has more than enough demand to fill these planes to most destinations. On the other hand, the 787 works best to connect medium sized airports in a point to point model. Hong Kong airport is one the busiest airports in the world and is near its capacity with very few slots left. While the third runway and expansion are in progress, Cathay still needs to fly larger planes (but not as large as an A380) in order to increase capacity without needing more slots.

    1500 passengers from HK to London? Should have at least 1 A380 with 600 seats, and 3 777 with 300 seats, that way you get both the flexibility and the ultimate in comfort from the A380 and give passengers more choice to choose from, if you prefer the space, and comfort of A380, fly the A380, if you want to fly on a 777 then go with the 777, thats giving your passengers the more choice and flexibility, HK to London is 11 hour flight, I would much prefer the A380 which has far better economy class than 777, and having 4 engines is much safer than having 2, a 777 with an engine explosion would probably crash where as the A380 survived 2 engine explosion flights with a perfect safe landing with everyone surviving, Qantas Flight 32 and Air France Flight 66

    Cathay Pacific says they prefer frequency over capacity, but they should be using larger aircraft because the airline is loosing pilots and crew for reasons that cathay could easily fix.

    The reason why Cathay pacific make a loss is because they are most often more expensive then the competition. Why would anyone pay hundreds more for something that's basically the same thing.Usually Special offers arr not actually special offers. In modern times businesses all have the wrong idea, If you offer something that people don't want, can't get or can't afford then obviously you'll loose sales. Instead of making your product and service more attactive and attainable you do the most to squeeze your customers out of evry inch of revenue and Space.
