Bought this phone yesterday, absolutely love it. Battery is great, it runs through anything you throw at it. And you don't experience software lag like Samsung Galaxy phones, or even LG's.
Still not experiencing lag on my day to day, and I've installed/uninstalled lots of apps throughout those two months. However, on certain games, you may experience frame drops here and there. But for the most part, it holds its own. IMO, the phone is very much worth it now that it's even cheaper.. you can find it for $280-300~

Apart from software...this phone is similar to oneplus and the processor too is excellent....and it has a better camera for sure...and that software is actually not that bad....i also hated it but i got my hands on one of my friend's P9 and it is actuallt great!

Many people compare honor 8 with OP3...the ui,hardware,camera etc...but they forgot to compare one thing that is actually very important...which is customer support...in my country, Huawei is one of the best in customer support...when you get honor 8,you'll also will get 3 month screen cracked warranty and often bundle with a lot of freebies...for example in my country...you will get Honor band Z1, SanDisk 32gb memory card,tempered glass,silicon case and a 10 000 mah powerbank...i mean it is a great deal...
good review of the phone. however, I wish people, such as yourself, would say if whether or not you would still use the phone or would you be using a different phone (in same price range). I'm not saying you need to do a full blown comparison, but ultimately people need to pick a phone to buy and don't have the luxury to get every phone to play around with so they might look to you to help make that decision for them. Every phone has pluses and minuses, but knowing you would still use phone X over this phone might push that person over the edge to selecting phone X. just my two cents.
These Chinese upstarts are really doing useful stuff, the programmable rear button is actually useful, unlike say an iris scanner. OP3 also has useful quick launch features. Why Samsung and Apple doesn't do that is disappointing as they are genuinely improving your experience. Important is 1080p as the sacrifice you have to make for QHD is just not worth it, worse battery life, worse frame rates, thermal throttling and worse performance. Lots of Chinese phones have intrusive RAM management, my OPPO does the same even with a 4000mAH battery, though the battery life is 6-7 hours SOT. Looks a great value phone but loads of similar excellent phones at that price so difficult to choose.
Tim great review but if I had a real constructive criticism it's that your video quality seems a bit poor. It seems soft and not very sharp. Donno if this is because your camera or editing compressing.
Great video and i enjoyed it! but i can hear several bumps and had to pause the video. Couldn't look at the video anymore because i have headphones and its to annoying. Hope you get it fixed for the next video. cheers
Im kinda late, but I ordered one here in croatia for like 300$ it should arrive these days, im really happy with my chouce, I might be crazy to choose it over p smart but I hate bigger phones.

How do u get past that? Simple: 3rd Party Launcher. I've been using Nova Launcher Pro since the dark days of S3 Touchwiz. UI is never an issue now, except for settings UI doesn't change unless u flash a custom ROM. However, EMUI looks alright. I don't see what is the big problem with it? How come iOS can get away with the springboard UI and not get any complaints....
If Huawei got their software game on point, this phone would be amazing. I personally do not like the software, as I came from Apple to Android and want to be as far away as possible.
The biggest challenge with iOS want to be manufacturers is that they do not have as much attention to detail as Apple has when they match the design with their features and user experience. Android is not meant to be made to look like iOS. The least they can do is make sure that simple things like notifications are at least functional and relevant to the operating system they are using. That Google Maps notification was unacceptable.

Curious, your Honor 8 has an app drawer but this is not a feature of MIUI, have you reviewed this with a third party launcher installed?

Yeah thanks just bought it today, $470, the phone cost 3799kr ($390), a case cost 399kr ($50) a glass screen protector 199kr ($30).
The only thing that I really miss is wireless charging. Other than that, I really love this phone.
