I have sent 3 of my 6 children to war in the past 19 years. I send them with a Book of Mormon marked at this story...bearing my testimony that I as their mother knew they would be safe if they were faithful and believed and thankfully they all came back...changed...needing some help...but they were home. All are productive adults and I praise God for that. They all said they knew I would be praying for them. I believe a mother's prayers are the most powerful prayers there are. This part of the Book of Mormon always touches my heart! Thanks for your lessons!
I miss my mothers prayers for me since she died. I can feel the difference. She used to say" more things are wrought by prayer than this world can dream of ".
Ryde Primary, I believe she is praying for you on the other side of the veil. I feel the prayers of my parents and grandparents often. And as I get older and watch my grandkids grow I am sure that when I am in the Spirit world I will continue to pray for them all. God Bless.
With this chapter 56 we always discuss the importance of the mothers’ role in teaching their children - the spiritual side - and skim and ignore the fact that without the fathers’ input of providing provisions for their boys (56:27 - imagine how much food they would have needed to feed 2,000 active, hungry teenage boys 😳) - the physical side of life, they would not have been able to survive. What a beautiful way of Heavenly Father teaching us the importance and role of parents in rearing a family. Thank you both so much for taking the time to teach us!
So the one time in the scriptures they mention the women we need to remember the men? We all know they had good parents, but really lets take away from what the mothers contributed so we can remember the men.
Thanks for this beautiful reminder. We love to see the deep love these families had for each other and for supporting the Nephites who were fighting for their peace and protection.
S A Oh not at all!! To me what stood out was the reminder of our divine roles and contributions, the synergy I guess that exists within a family unit. And I never feel like the women are ignored in the scriptures. Sorry to have offended you 💖
CC Mars Many years ago, I was also struck with the thought this narrative bears witness of the divine roles and the importance of the nuclear family as Father created it. The mothers provided one thing, while the fathers provided the other. Dare I say the mothers fed the hearts while the fathers provide for the temporal? When I had this come to me I was a little shocked because I had never heard it taught.
L Anders EXACTLY!! That’s exactly what happened to me too!! It is those little reminders that shows us the love that Heavenly Father has for us and the perfect plan He has for us 💖
The "and it came to pass" discussion was beyond interesting and helpful. I've been thinking a lot about trials and it's a nice reminder that things bad will all eventually pass. Many thanks.
Thank you Taylor and Tylor I feel the scriptures have truely come alive through your teachings and explanations of words and diagrams The sincerity, heart felt testimonies, has in riched us deeply, spiritually.
I know that this channel was inspired by the Lord. I also know I was guided here by the Spirit. I love how you started today by talking about the famous 'and it came to pass' phrase. I have received answers to my prayers from the both of you so from the bottom of my heart, Thank You!
Oh thank you so, so much! This was one of the best lessons EVER in the whole world! :-) Your knowledge and testimony and spirit of teaching the way you do, is undoubtably inspired by the Lord. every week I thank my Heavenly Father for you both and for teaching me things that I never so fully or deeply understood before.
Brothers, thank you so much for the Book of Mormon central. I have always struggled to understand the scriptures. Both of you have been an inspiration to me as you have helped me to understand the scriptures and I have actually gone much further than 'I Nephi having been born of goodly parents...'!! Thank you brothers. Thank you also for explaining "and it came to pass...". It is a comfort to know all storms will eventually pass. May the Lord continue to bless you and your families.
This presentation was amazing. So many beautiful insights were shared that had me truly reflecting. CFM is a blessing to all of us in these uncertain times, and each insight gained is like discovering a precious jewel. There were tears as I was writing and listening to these inspirational words. Thank you Taylor and Tyler for all the CFM lessons and for being an instrument in getting us through these extraordinary times.
im touched with the lesson and discussions as well, as mother of grown up sons, i realized that never we compromised our faith with God no matter how tough would life be....Trusting God would never us go wrong...
Hello Guys, I cannot express how right on in my life your lessons have been! So many things you've mentioned have direct applications in my life presently. Thank you! I'm a Mom and Grandma and your words have answered my prayers verbatim. Thank you. All my love Angela
We have been following "come follow me" from Book of Mormon Central since March. We have been inspired and uplifted and instructed to help us in our family study at home. We have received some spiritual insights never before understood. We particularly like the spirit with which the lessons are given, and the relevance they have to our world today. I grew up in the ward where Neil Maxwell lived, and was aware of the account of his mother praying for him on Okinawa, but had never made the association with the mothers of the sons of Heleman in such a powerful way. Your tandem teaching is powerful. Thanks.
I am from brazil too 😊 and I find the videos amazing! Thank you guys for all the insights. I started watching last year the new testament videos and i am glad you are sharing this for the BOM come follow me. I look foward to studying DeC with your insights. 😉😉
Absolutely crazy a light just came on. I do not listen to your presentation until the Sabbath. It is Thursday I was looking in every reference and scriptures to understand "and it came to pass" the basic understanding I have known and has given me great comfort over the years. In one of your lessons Taylor explained the phrase and how it is said in the Bible. Through all my searching the Spirit said go to Book of Mormon Central. Wow Taylor is teaching the phrase. I love my God I love my Savior and I love their Gospel. Thank You is not enough for what I feel in my heart.
Thank you for sharing this encouraging story! You can find a summary of my writings on "And it came to pass" here: taylorhalverson.com/2020/01/12/why-it-came-to-pass-is-one-of-the-most-significant-phrases-in-the-book-of-mormon/
I find these chapters so riveting. True heroes and horrendous characters. I suppose the darker the night the more the light of courage faith sacrifice and goodness shines and we can see what happens when evil has its way. The misery suffering and destruction it brings. Oh those young men what a story. Great lesson as always gentleman. Super job.
I've really received some deep and timely insights from this lesson. I just discovered this channel last week and had to come back for this week's lesson. It's been a blessing for me and I'm extremely grateful for the Book of Mormon which is indeed another testament of Jesus Christ.
Thank you both for your wonderful insights, and for sharing the Elder Maxwell story. You make an excellent point regarding the large numbers of the Ammonite men who were killed, likely leaving many of the stripling warriors fatherless. I think it's also worth considering, that when it was agreed that the 2,000 would be heading to war under Helaman, the surviving Ammonite fathers would have quickly organized a crash course to teach their sons, and those who were fatherless, the essentials of hand-to-hand combat in which they were so proficient prior to their conversion and the burial of their weapons.
42:53 to 46:40 is just what I needed. So much information and different opinions in the world. We need to build our mind on Christ and the eternal truths that truly matter.
I learned so much today - Thank you! Become Softened -> Grow -> Become Humble -> Better -> Closer to God Trials = CHOICE = Become Hardened -> Shrink -> Become Angry -> Bitter -> Distant from God I loved Tyler's words so much - I put this little illustration together... I also really appreciated learning more about "and it came to pass".....signifying that all things will pass......experiences here will be ever changing. This too shall pass!
@@taylorhalverson3052 I just saw your comment Taylor. Of course you may use it. It all came from the lesson today! Thank you again for all that you and Tyler do.
@@taylorhalverson3052 sorry - I accidentally used my husband's profile to answer above. It was me Janice - not David - that replied. Please use my illustration. Thank you for all you do.
I love the identity parallel especially in these divisive and polarizing times. The only identity that matters is children of god and followers of Christ.
Amen. I see so many people today putting their passions and opinions ahead of their god...good people, who are losing their true identity and loyalty, including myself.
Thank you so much for all you do to encourage our studies and provide strength. You have blessed my life in more ways than I can count. For the record.. and not to diminish the role of mothers in any way... the Fathers of the 2,000 young men are, at least partially, mentioned in providing support and provisions in Alma 56:27
So many things from this lesson resonated with my heart, thank you again for helping me to understand the scriptures more fully. As the mother of four sons I plead with the Lord for his protection upon them in this very scary world.
Once again I am thrilled with the information I have learned studying the Book of Mormon with you. You open my eyes to new meaning each lesson and I am so grateful to you both for the time you spend preparing so that we can reap the benefits of your knowledge. Thank you both!
For a long time, I've seen life's lessons, particularly in armor and city fortifications, but you've added a whole new layer. And the Lord has given me insights into how I can apply these to my own character. Thanks.
This is not only insightful but heartfelt and I am really glad I stumbled upon it today. I hope that those on the other side of the veil will be empowered to aid us in our perilous struggles, now and ahead. If it will be so, it will only be because of virtue and faith on this side of the veil. I often wonder, do we know, do we really realize what is required of us to merit those kinds of blessings, and are we willing to do what is essential to claim them? It's not for lack of trying on the part of faithful men and women who have consistently modeled and taught us as a people what we must do.
Thank You so much for sharing your insights on these chapters. We do have a choice what we do when trials come upon us. I hope to be softened rather than hardened.
I love your insights. I’ve learned so much as we’ve studied together. Totally enjoyed this video! A few additional things (amongst all the cool points stated) I love about these chapters: the Striplings took the initiative (like Nephi) and acted to band together (they saw the tempted state their families were in “about to take up arms” because it was so bad) and they acted (they didn’t wait for someone to ask them, they stepped up) and they chose the Prophet as their leader. Also, how Helaman is an answer to Pahoran’s prayer - Helaman (after years of conflict) writes Capt Moroni at this specific time and tells him about the Striplings, the war in that part of the land, and about the lack of provisions. He doesn’t write throughout the years, he writes at this particular time. That informs Moroni and he sends a letter to Pahoran and then goes back to his wars and strategizing (probably not thinking anything of it) and then writes again with heated words and answers the question Pahoran has been struggling with “Is it lawful in the Lord’s eyes and is it His will to go against the kingmen?”...it’s Helaman’s epistle that sparks Capt Moroni to answer the question Pahoran couldn’t ask either of them. I love when I’m able to be an instrument in the Lord’s hands in answering someone’s prayer and I love that Helaman and Capt Moroni were able to answer Pahoran even though neither knew he was struggling (but the Lord knew). Another thing that I’ve learned and had to apply to my own life is Capt Moroni assumes what is going on and is wrong and when I start to assume, I try to remind myself of Capt Moroni and Pahoran and ask myself which one I am in the situation. I love how we get to see that Capt Moroni is amazingly awesome and definitely human and it’s possible to be both. Great job on this video series and these passages! ❤️
The spirit illuminated a passage for me in Alma 56:27 wherein fathers are recognized for their temporal support to their sons. “There was brought unto us many provisions from the fathers of those my two thousand sons.” So often we highlight the mothers, and rightly so, however, fathers are key in supporting their children in other equally important ways. How grateful I am for the teamwork between my husband and me. My kids have jokingly called their dad “paycheck” yet he truly has provided and supported our family temporally all their lives. It was a beautiful truth taught and I shared it with my family in our “Come Follow Me” text chat! All my love and prayers for your continued strength and wisdom! You guys are the best! Let us know when you travel again, we want to go with you!! ☀️🙏🏼❤️
Such an inspiration lesson for me. I've written so many pages of notes that I can take my time to re-read and digest as I study these chapters again. Thank you so much.
Thank you for every lesson you teach. I love Elder Maxwell messages and the history of his life. I didn’t hear the story of his mom. I hope my Lord would bless my children and protect them.
I read both the English and Chinese versions of the Book of Mormon. In Chinese the translation for “and it came to pass” doesn’t quite capture the 1st meaning that all things shall come to pass; but it embraces the 2nd meaning (as a driving force to lead you to read on further) - and in fact the Chinese translation of the phrase will really make you pause and read on with intent. Interesting how different languages will bring different perspectives of how we understand the Gospel!
To your whole crew in front of the camera and behind it, thank you for a great presentation. Your prayers are very effective...every week the spirit teaches me so much through your presentations. Thank you for the lives you live, the spirit you carry with you, and sharing your talents. I’m struck by the concept of the enemy within being more dangerous than any other enemy. Allowing the evil desires of Amalickiah or the twisted thought processes or his brother Ammoron are enemies to our soul. Yet they exist and can take over our lives if we don’t fight them. Through Christ we will come of conquerer. Ammoron’s distortion of truth is easy to see when placed in perspective of historical facts. I am the brother of Amalickiah whom ye have murdered. Behold, I will avenge his blood upon you.... 17 For behold, your fathers did wrong their brethren, insomuch that they did rob them of their right to the government when it rightly belonged unto them. His thoughts and thoughts processes are filled with lies that he chooses to believe. In my life the truth is not always as easily distinguished from the lies or “lize”: TRIVIALIZE/lies - It’s just a little thing, it won’t matter. COMPARTMENTALIZE/lies - What happens here, stays here. MARGINALIZE/lies - It’s on the fringes, so who cares. RATIONALIZE/lies - Whatever you want it to be. Sometimes, several lize/lies are bunched together. This is why I strive to “always have his spirit to be with” me so that I can “see things as they really are”. These war chapters use the word “power” nearly 50 times. War is about and a struggle for power. This war is not a struggle to have or not have power, it is a struggle for who has power over us. As Paul taught we “wrestle against...power.” We are not neutral in this battle. President Monson taught, “when we contemplate the wonderful world in which we live and then realize the tumultuous times which beset us, joyful are we to know Jesus, our leader, ever is near. We live in a world of waste. Too often our natural resources are squandered. We live in a world of want. Some enjoy the lap of luxury, yet others stare starvation in the face. Food, shelter, clothing, and love are not found by all. Unrelieved suffering, unnecessary illness, and premature death stalk too many. We live in a world of wars. Some are political in nature, while others are economic by definition. The greatest battle of all, however, is for the souls of mankind. (Duty Calls, Oct 1996) President David O. McKay counseled: “‘The greatest battle of life is fought within the silent chambers of your own soul.’ … It is a good thing to sit down and commune with yourself, to come to an understanding with yourself and decide in that silent moment what your duty is to your family, to your Church, to your country, and … to your fellowmen.” (CR, April 1967, pg 84-85) President Monson taught, “On the subject of our choice for who has power over us I’m grateful for prophets who make the choice clear, like Elder Maxwell: “Actually, brothers and sisters, Jesus is already victorious in the greatest battle anyway: “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33; emphasis added). The Atonement was accomplished, bringing a universal resurrection to billions and billions, lifting all from the grave-regardless of how and when we got there! Therefore, on a clear night, though we see stars of incomprehensible longevity, they are not immortal. But, thankfully, we are!” (Encircled in the Arms of His Love, Oct 2002) The story of the stripling soldiers is a story of families and their foundational role in society. War has always required the blood of the young to fight the battles for the old. Their fathers provided physical provisions (Alma 56:27) their mothers provided provisions of faith. (Alma 56:48) They did not doubt their mothers faith (Alma 56:48) and they did care more about the liberty of their fathers than they did about their own lives (Alma 56:47) What remarkable young men! They were saved for their time to fulfill their covenants (Alma 53:17) just like the youth of today. Elder Bednar shared the following at BYU-I on June 27, 2002: Elder Maxwell...said, “The youth of this generation have a greater capacity for obedience than any previous generation.” His statement was supported by a statement made by President George Q. Cannon (1827-1901), First Counselor in the First Presidency: “God has reserved spirits for this dispensation who have the courage and determination to face the world, and all the powers of the evil one, visible and invisible, to proclaim the gospel and maintain the truth and establish and build up the Zion of our God fearless of all consequences. He has sent these spirits in this generation to lay the foundation of Zion never more to be overthrown, and to raise up a seed that will be righteous, and that will honor God, and honor Him supremely, and be obedient to Him under all circumstances.” (Neal A. Maxwell, BYU Speeches September 5, 1982) Furthermore, whether you realize it or not, you are a generation drenched in destiny. If you are faithful, you will prove to be a part of the winding-up scenes for this world, and as participants, not merely as spectators, though on later occasions you might understandably prefer to be the latter. … Though we have rightly applauded our ancestors for their spiritual achievements (and do not and must not discount them now), those of us who prevail today will have done no small thing. The special spirits who have been reserved to live in this time of challenges and who overcome will one day be praised for their stamina by those who pulled handcarts.“ Think of this group of stripling warriors and their willingness to enter into a covenant to do the work required of them. Think of what President Nelson has invited the youth to do: “he said, “I am inviting every young woman and every young man between the ages of 12 and 18 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to enlist in the youth battalion of the Lord to help gather Israel.” “There is nothing happening on this earth right now that is more important than that. … This is the mission for which you were sent to earth.” “[T]he gathering of Israel ultimately means offering the gospel of Jesus Christ to God’s children on both sides of the veil who have neither made crucial covenants with God nor received their essential ordinances.” Sister Nelson added, “The only thing that really matters, is that individuals do what they have covenanted with their Heavenly Father to do.” (Hope of Israel, Worldwide Youth Devotional, June 3, 2018) The 2,000 stripling soldiers “entered into a covenant to fight for...liberty...yea, to protect the land unto the laying down of their lives; yea, even they covenanted that they never would give up their liberty, but they would fight in all cases to protect [their society] and themselves from bondage. (Alma 53:17) We can see the gathering of Israel on this side of the veil. President Joseph F. Smith saw in vision what would be happening on the other side of the veil to gather Israel. (Liberty to the captives--see D&C 138:18,31,42) 18 While this vast multitude waited and conversed, rejoicing in the hour of their deliverance from the chains of death, the Son of God appeared, declaring liberty to the captives who had been faithful; 31 And the chosen messengers went forth to declare the acceptable day of the Lord and proclaim liberty to the captives who were bound, even unto all who would repent of their sins and receive the gospel. 42 And Isaiah, who declared by prophecy that the Redeemer was anointed to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that were bound, were also there. Two groups of youth are worth comparing to each other which provide material for us as parents and those of the rising generation to consider where we are moving on the continuum. Mosiah 26: 1 Now it came to pass that there were many of the rising generation that could not understand the words of king Benjamin, being little children at the time he spake unto his people; and they did not believe the tradition of their fathers. ... Alma 56: 47 Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them. 48 And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it.
I look forward to your discussions every week. I realize the Doctrine and Covenants may not fall under Book of Mormon Central, directly. However, I hope you two will continue with Come Follow Me Insights in January!
In this lesson Tyler pointed out the importance of praying for others; specifically referencing the prayers of the mother's of the stripling warriors. I was reminded of an experience I had years ago when I felt prompted to pray for a friend. At the same time he was in, what could have been, a serious car accident. A miracle saved his life. For years I pondered, asking why did I get the prompting to pray for him? This statement from the bible dictionary on prayer opened my understanding; "The object of prayer is not to change the will of God but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant but that are made conditional on our asking for them." God respects the agency of man, he is ready and willing to bless our lives, but we need to ask. Agency binds Him from forcing blessings on us; a prayer satisfies the demands of agency. I believe our prayers allow the ministering angels to minister to those we pray for, without the prayer of faith the angels are bound and cannot intervene.
Huge chapters to read and study I was kinda nervous when I read these chapters what's about to happen lots of battle here but sad to see one of my hero captain Moroni died. I applaud you Tyler taken covered all the chapters, You guys are awesome and brilliant teaching keep up the good work! don't stop! thank you very much!! I love it
Thanks for packing so much in and for maps and for quotes. I liked the way to communicate with those 4 points too. My sons, yep I love that too. Like they say there are more ways to be a mother than to give birth. Love your inclusion of pictures too. My husband is growling that I am already watching a church thing when I went to church on Sunday. I told him this is for the study through the week, even though a week ahead. I also wrote a talk for our newsletter-I did it on baptism as an 8 year old has made that choice to get baptised. I think my husband has forgotten I am a ward missionary, a missionary co-ordinator, a liaison with our group and the ward and a Relief Society teacher. As if Sunday worship would be enough even with our any callings. Bye.

It must take alot of time and effort to make them - but the result is a real blessing to myself and I am assuming so many others like me. Taylor I just love the way that you parse the scriptures. I love words. I find this a great addition to the lessons. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge so generously. Tyler your internal map of the geograhy of the Book of Mormon is so useful. A similar miracle happened during the Korean War with some LDS servicemen. There is a documentary called “ Miracle at Kapyong” which tells the story of their preservation.
What a truly inspirational Scripture Block T&T Brothers !! I was intrigued with Chapter 62:41 WHY some were SOFTEN or HARDENED by the length of the war. Observation, the war was the same for everyone yet out of the SAME experience some were hardened or softened. Question, What made the difference? Alma 47:36 provides us with the answer (Belief in God with Captain Moroni's Title of Libert listing GOD 1st). Just as Boiling Water can HARDEN eggs that same Boiling water can also SOFTEN Carrots !!
52:38 May I just add that just because we started a trial one way, doesn't mean we can't turn to the other way. The wars lasted many years, that's a long time, and even this virus is lasting a long time. But, just because we were humbled by a trial, doesn't mean it will end, and that sort of thinking can harden us and make us bitter. But it can also work vice versa, just because the trail we're in has caused us to harden doesn't mean we can't call upon God and humble ourselves and become soft. "So, when (your trial) is over, has it left you a better person it a bitter person?"
Tyler and Taylor- I understand the fact that BYU has a sort of " prime directive" not to inject your teachings into today's political wars, but if you change but a very few words, the battles and struggles endured by the Lamanites and Nephites Almost mirror 21st century battles, which to me, shows that satan has not changed tactics in millenium, and our only chance of keeping our liberty and freedom, is ALL of us who are loving and faithful children of God MUST rely on His power and mercy. we are being blessed with a 21st century (little rough around the edges) Moroni--- he loves and works for ALL of us-- Nephite AND Lamanite alike and believes in the sanctity of life ---AND our right to worship as we see fit. can't wait for your teachings of the D&C!!!! also, where can I get a copy or print of the map of zarahemla? bless you both, rick
I love your lessons and the Hebrew meaning that I am learning here. Also the psychological approach to situations. Thanks for all your time and strengthening messages, despite the war stories. I shared M.L. Junior's quote on facebook! greetings from Belgium & greateful for google translate ; )
Would love if you guys circle back to 1 Nephi chapters and redo thoughts on those! The very first videos were good, but much shorter and we skipped over the whole Nephi gets the gold plates portion for example. Since the videos are now much longer, I'd love to hear more on those parts.
Yeah, we were experimenting during the early part of the year with video/lesson length and approach. We might go back to that. If you want a lot more content on 1 Nephi, try my book "The Covenant Path in the Bible and the Book of Mormon": www.amazon.com/Covenant-Path-Bible-Book-Mormon/dp/1951341031
We need to love ourselves , also. When we connect ourselves with God and love ourselves, then we will automatically ,we are going to love our neighbors. If we don't love our neighbors ,we do not love our God . Allways is Trinity in connection. You, God and neighbor. The same the Trinity with God, Jesus and Holly Spirit. Many people doesn't know how to love others, because they don't know how to love themselves. How can you love others? If you don't have love within. You cannot give what you do not have. Everything comes from inside of you connected with our Father in Heaven.
Ok.... I'm struggling with a small part of this. I am a very new member. I was baptized 2 weeks ago and I studied with the missionaries for a year before that. I've always searched and learned as much as I could about all religions, especially the different denominations on Christianity. It was my open mind that led me to meet with missionaries in the first place. The truths I've come t know have come to me through personal revelation, that small voice during prayers. I know God is our heavenly Father, I know Jesus is the son of God. I know that His teachings are the way, the truth, the light. I know the Book of Mormon is scripture and true. But I'm not certain I should stop learning about other faiths. It feels right when I pray on it.... thoughts?
God is a God of truth. We should have no fear of the truth and we should seek after all of God's truth. I personally have deeply benefited from studying other religions and world-views, have many friends of other faiths, and I've even led tour groups to countries such as Israel, China, and India where I've taught hundreds of people about various versions of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Jainism, Sikhism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Confucianism, Taoism, and many other ideas. Hope that helps! :)
@@taylorhalverson3052 thank you! That does help. I have SO many friends in other churches. I love to study scripture with them... but I don't think I have a soft brain....
This one is probably my favorite video so far. Do you have a reference for the World War 2 mortar Neal A Maxwell story? Thanks for all you do and the bit you put in at the beginning very relevant for what is going on in the world.
Thanks Jared. Sorry that sometimes we don't have the references easy at hand. Tyler is a master of remembering useful quotes...but he doesn't always immediately remember where he heard them. Sorry about that.

You can find it in the video called "Saints At War: World War 2" produced by Robert Freeman. If my memory serves correctly, you will find this story being told from about the 36-42 minute mark in the movie.
Were Ammoron and Amalickiah part of the early “kings men” movement and possibly Mulekites of noble birth? Could the accusation of Ammoron regarding the Nephites’ fathers having done “wrong to their brethren, insomuch that they did rob them of their right to the government...” also apply to resentment by the Mulekite elite against the Nephite “takeover” of government and Church when the two nations merged in the days of King Mosiah, father of Benjamin? I am a huge fan of your lectures, guys - keep up the great work!!!
Great thought, Gerardo. I think you are onto something significant. It does seem likely that Ammoron and Amalickiah were part of the early “kings men” movement and part of the group Mulekites who claimed noble birth.
I think this is an intriguing possibility that I'd never thought before, however, near the end of the chapter (54:23), Ammoron identifies himself as a descendant of Zoram from Jerusalem. So I don't think they (Amalickiah and Ammoron) were descendants of the Mulekites. Nevertheless, this does not exclude the possibility of Ammoron referring to the Nephite takeover of government from King Mosiah's day because Ammoron didn't say "your fathers did wrong OUR/MY FATHERS", he said "your fathers did wrong THEIR BRETHREN" (v. 17, emphasis added). I think this leaves open the possibility that Ammoron was referring to the Nephite/Mulekite merge. Fun to think about! Thanks for sharing!
Can you comment on where you obtained the art you show in your videos? I would like to know who the artists are. (apologies in advance if you have answered this elsewhere)
Can you point me to a list of stories from the scriptures that spirits from the other side of the veil assisted on earth? I have felt help from the other side many times. One of the most powerful was in Nauvoo a few years ago when I became very ill and had a blessing in the visitors center. My grandmother taught me by example about trusting God at all times. She had many experiences with the other side of the veil while doing family history.
Do you think that it might have been a way of transitioning from one event to another by Mormon as he abridged the records he had when he compiled the book of Mormon as we now have it?
My initial thoughts are that this means A: On earth (1) no longer serving missions, (2) no longer serving in heaving church callings. B: In heaven (1) having eternal rest and (2) no longer suffering from the problems of this world. Hope this helps.
BTW, here is a summary article on It Came To Pass: taylorhalverson.com/2020/01/12/why-it-came-to-pass-is-one-of-the-most-significant-phrases-in-the-book-of-mormon/
After reading the war chapters, I understand more why Hagoth was able to get so many people to sail away with him. I'm sure many were weary of the bloodshed and wanted to start a new life far away from the Lamanites and Kingmen.
I think in this verse, Alma 61:8, he is referring to HIMSELF as becoming king "over this people." - not some other conquering Lamanite. I don't think he intended to share his power of kingship with anyone.

What a testimony! Thank you for sharing!!
God Bless.
Mothers and children are very powerful. My Mother has prayed for me. God’s Grace was there with me when I had a major surgery.
Beautiful note, Pam.
Thanks for the feedback!
I am from Malaysia. You guys are my mentors. Never miss a lesson from you guys. Thank you so much for your wonderful teaching.

The sincerity, heart felt testimonies, has in riched us deeply, spiritually.
Awesome to hear this! This is what we pray for!
I know that this channel was inspired by the Lord. I also know I was guided here by the Spirit. I love how you started today by talking about the famous 'and it came to pass' phrase. I have received answers to my prayers from the both of you so from the bottom of my heart, Thank You!
Excellent to hear this, Cito!
Thank you Brogan!
Thank you Mahinder.
Thank you for who you are and for sharing this encouraging note!
im touched with the lesson and discussions as well, as mother of grown up sons, i realized that never we compromised our faith with God no matter how tough would life be....Trusting God would never us go wrong...

Hello Guys,
I cannot express how right on in my life your lessons have been! So many things you've mentioned have direct applications in my life presently. Thank you! I'm a Mom and Grandma and your words have answered my prayers verbatim. Thank you. All my love Angela
Thank you Angela for this heart-warming note!
Thanks.
Thank you Michael for your additional perspective and experience!

Thank you very much appreciated.
Super job.
Really great analogy and insight. thanks for sharing.
I've really received some deep and timely insights from this lesson. I just discovered this channel last week and had to come back for this week's lesson. It's been a blessing for me and I'm extremely grateful for the Book of Mormon which is indeed another testament of Jesus Christ.
Thanks for joining with us!
:)
I learned so much today - Thank you!
Become Softened -> Grow -> Become Humble -> Better -> Closer to God
Trials = CHOICE =
Become Hardened -> Shrink -> Become Angry -> Bitter -> Distant from God
I loved Tyler's words so much - I put this little illustration together...
I also really appreciated learning more about "and it came to pass".....signifying that all things will pass......experiences here will be ever changing. This too shall pass!
What a great chart and illustration? Janice. May I use it with permission?
@@taylorhalverson3052 I just saw your comment Taylor. Of course you may use it. It all came from the lesson today! Thank you again for all that you and Tyler do.

Thank you! Your lessons have helped above and beyond.

I love the identity parallel especially in these divisive and polarizing times. The only identity that matters is children of god and followers of Christ.
Amen to that!
Great insight, thanks for sharing!
So many things from this lesson resonated with my heart, thank you again for helping me to understand the scriptures more fully.
As the mother of four sons I plead with the Lord for his protection upon them in this very scary world.
Glad this could help!
Once again I am thrilled with the information I have learned studying the Book of Mormon with you. You open my eyes to new meaning each lesson and I am so grateful to you both for the time you spend preparing so that we can reap the benefits of your knowledge. Thank you both!
Thank you Sandi for this heart-warming note!
For a long time, I've seen life's lessons, particularly in armor and city fortifications, but you've added a whole new layer. And the Lord has given me insights into how I can apply these to my own character. Thanks.
Glad to know that his helped!
Thank you for sharing these thoughts!

What a blessing you both are at this very moment in time! Thank you for sharing such amazing insights! I love the videos and the scripture plus app!
Great to hear that the scriptureplus app is a PLUS for you!
Wow, what a deluge of excellent insights! Thanks for sharing.
Am very grateful for this great series. Thanks
We love making these!

These are such good lessons, Thankyou so much Tyla and Taylor.
Thanks for joining with us!
Appreciate all you do to help us understand these chapters!
You are most welcome!
That is an incredible insight! Thank you for sharing!
In my life the truth is not always as easily distinguished from the lies or “lize”:
TRIVIALIZE/lies - It’s just a little thing, it won’t matter.
(Duty Calls, Oct 1996)
President David O. McKay counseled: “‘The greatest battle of life is fought within the silent chambers of your own soul.’ … It is a good thing to sit down and commune with yourself, to come to an understanding with yourself and decide in that silent moment what your duty is to your family, to your Church, to your country, and … to your fellowmen.” (CR, April 1967, pg 84-85)
President Monson taught, “On the subject of our choice for who has power over us I’m grateful for prophets who make the choice clear, like Elder Maxwell: “Actually, brothers and sisters, Jesus is already victorious in the greatest battle anyway: “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33; emphasis added). The Atonement was accomplished, bringing a universal resurrection to billions and billions, lifting all from the grave-regardless of how and when we got there! Therefore, on a clear night, though we see stars of incomprehensible longevity, they are not immortal. But, thankfully, we are!”
(Encircled in the Arms of His Love, Oct 2002)
The story of the stripling soldiers is a story of families and their foundational role in society. War has always required the blood of the young to fight the battles for the old.
Their fathers provided physical provisions (Alma 56:27) their mothers provided provisions of faith. (Alma 56:48)
They did not doubt their mothers faith (Alma 56:48) and they did care more about the liberty of their fathers than they did about their own lives (Alma 56:47) What remarkable young men! They were saved for their time to fulfill their covenants (Alma 53:17) just like the youth of today.
Elder Bednar shared the following at BYU-I on June 27, 2002:
Elder Maxwell...said, “The youth of this generation have a greater capacity for obedience than any previous generation.”
His statement was supported by a statement made by President George Q. He has sent these spirits in this generation to lay the foundation of Zion never more to be overthrown, and to raise up a seed that will be righteous, and that will honor God, and honor Him supremely, and be obedient to Him under all circumstances.”
(Neal A. Maxwell, BYU Speeches September 5, 1982)
Furthermore, whether you realize it or not, you are a generation drenched in destiny. If you are faithful, you will prove to be a part of the winding-up scenes for this world, and as participants, not merely as spectators, though on later occasions you might understandably prefer to be the latter. …
Though we have rightly applauded our ancestors for their spiritual achievements (and do not and must not discount them now), those of us who prevail today will have done no small thing. The special spirits who have been reserved to live in this time of challenges and who overcome will one day be praised for their stamina by those who pulled handcarts.“
Think of this group of stripling warriors and their willingness to enter into a covenant to do the work required of them.
… This is the mission for which you were sent to earth.” “[T]he gathering of Israel ultimately means offering the gospel of Jesus Christ to God’s children on both sides of the veil who have neither made crucial covenants with God nor received their essential ordinances.”
Sister Nelson added, “The only thing that really matters, is that individuals do what they have covenanted with their Heavenly Father to do.” (Hope of Israel, Worldwide Youth Devotional, June 3, 2018)
The 2,000 stripling soldiers “entered into a covenant to fight for...liberty...yea, to protect the land unto the laying down of their lives; yea, even they covenanted that they never would give up their liberty, but they would fight in all cases to protect [their society] and themselves from bondage. (Alma 53:17)
We can see the gathering of Israel on this side of the veil.
President Joseph F. Smith saw in vision what would be happening on the other side of the veil to gather Israel. (Liberty to the captives--see D&C 138:18,31,42)
18 While this vast multitude waited and conversed, rejoicing in the hour of their deliverance from the chains of death, the Son of God appeared, declaring liberty to the captives who had been faithful;
31 And the chosen messengers went forth to declare the acceptable day of the Lord and proclaim liberty to the captives who were bound, even unto all who would repent of their sins and receive the gospel.
Thank you for sharing these many valuable insights!
I look forward to your discussions every week. I realize the Doctrine and Covenants may not fall under Book of Mormon Central, directly. However, I hope you two will continue with Come Follow Me Insights in January!

I just get so very much out of this, and really enjoy learning too. Thank you so very much xx
Thanks for watching!

Loved the emphasis on Helaman and Stripling warriors having to make the difficult decision to turn back and fight, knowing the Lamanites could have ensnared them
Thanks for sharing what caught your attention, Nick.
Thank you so much for these lessons and insights!
You are most welcome!
Been watching you two for quite a while now, needed to get on computer to subscribe. Doesnt allow it on T.V. Keep it going, you are Quite the mentors. Thank you for all your doing!!
Thank you for the encouragement!
If can get on an iPhone you can cast it to a smart TV
A knew way to look at the war chapters. Thank you.
:)
Love your insights I learn so much, so Thank you!!
Thank you for watching, Leva!
You guys are awesome! I love your presentations.
We pray before each recording hoping that these will benefit someone.
A similar miracle happened during the Korean War with some LDS servicemen. There is a documentary called “ Miracle at Kapyong” which tells the story of their preservation.
Thanks for letting us know about that story.
🗣️ Awesome!!
Thanks Levi!
Amazing like always thank you so much
Thank you Jesse!
Good insight!
Another incisive insight from the Blake Garside!
Amen!
Thank You ,for these wonderful lessons .They are so much help God Bless you both!!!!!!!
Thank you Ann! Many blessings in your pursuit of the gospel truth.
The Book of Mormon was indeed written for our day :)
I love your lessons and the Hebrew meaning that I am learning here. Also the psychological approach to situations. Thanks for all your time and strengthening messages, despite the war stories. I shared M.L. Junior's quote on facebook!
greetings from Belgium & greateful for google translate ; )
Thank you Julie for your regular support! Do you speak French, German or Dutch? :)
I loved your comment about a firm mind! Old expression - Don’t be so open-minded that your brain falls out!
ha ha :)
Great channel!
We appreciate the support, Devin!
I follow you from Portugal every week, thanks you so much. ♥️
Dear Tyler; Utah is not the one place where mothers pray for their sons, etc. Saying that I thank both for your insights of truths. 🥰
Yeah, thanks for the clarity. Every now and then we are not as precise as we would like to be.
Just LOVE IT!!! Gracias !
De Nada :)
Great point.
And welcome! :)
@@taylorhalverson3052 thank you! That does help. I have SO many friends in other churches. I love to study scripture with them... but I don't think I have a soft brain....
Another amazing video.
Thank you Elisa!

Apparently they were not too hard to find on the internet. Here's some links for anyone else interested.

You can find it in the video called "Saints At War: World War 2" produced by Robert Freeman. If my memory serves correctly, you will find this story being told from about the 36-42 minute mark in the movie.
tnx again for this wonderful insights
Glad this was useful!
@@taylorhalverson3052 very useful, i like the first part insight about "and it came to pass"
Great lesson thanks!
Thanks for watching Luann!
Can you comment on where you obtained the art you show in your videos? I would like to know who the artists are. (apologies in advance if you have answered this elsewhere)
Our producer @zandersturgill is an expert procurer of visuals :)
Try 2 Kings 6:16
Is it possible to purchase a copy of the map you use for our own personal study?
Free here: virtualscriptures.org/book-of-mormon-map/
Do you think that it might have been a way of transitioning from one event to another by Mormon as he abridged the records he had when he compiled the book of Mormon as we now have it?
Yes, definitely!
Thanks for your comments on and it came to pass. Do you have any insights on the phrase “To go no more out” as mentioned several times by Alma. Thanks
This is awesome
Thanks for letting us know!

@@taylorhalverson3052 Thank you so much! I love yall's videos!!!
After reading the war chapters, I understand more why Hagoth was able to get so many people to sail away with him. I'm sure many were weary of the bloodshed and wanted to start a new life far away from the Lamanites and Kingmen.
Great perspective.
I think in this verse, Alma 61:8, he is referring to HIMSELF as becoming king "over this people." - not some other conquering Lamanite. I don't think he intended to share his power of kingship with anyone.
Agreed!
Beautiful.
Glad you enjoyed this one!
Thank you!
Thank you Lana for being such a great support!
