    I saw him play in his prime and I don't know if I will ever see a QB with such all around talent.. Size 6'3, mobility, accurate ROCKET arm...you were never out of a game when #7 was back there.. I saw him avoid a sack by stiff arming a DE, roll out to his right, throw across his body 63 yards hitting Shannon Sharpe in perfect stride for a TD... most unreal play I have seen by ANY QB..

    For all the beatings he took in the super bowls he was the one that broke the NFC's streak. His 4th down conversion where he got smashed in sb32 was one of the best plays in the big dance considering the circumstances. The guy was amazing to watch.

    This 5 minute video doesn't do justice showing the greatness that was John Elway. It was a privilege to watch #7 in his prime. I have never seen a QB stiff arm a LB or DT, sometimes both in the same play, then throw against his body for a 60 yard bomb other than him. Others have better stats. Others have more SB wins. But NO ONE had that type of athleticism & No one has yet to come close.

The NFC was so much better and BIGGER back then it was a joke...the Bronco DL looked like kids compared to the NFC champion's OL...because of rule changes, you cannot compare QB stats between eras, or Philip Rivers is 10x better than Terry Bradshaw and Roger Staubach,,,but you can compare skill sets...and Elway is the best...and he did it for most of his career with little to no running game[they get Davis and a running game...even with ancient Elway. look what happens]

      Top 15? Elway is way overrated...he was never even considered the Best QB in the NFL at any time In fact, maybe it was a struggle for him to be considered top 3 in the NFL at any given season. Not in the 90's. Maybe 2 or 3 years in the 80's. Never considered better than Montana, nor Marino in the 80's. Then you have a few other QBs fighting for that 3rd spot in the 80's in Esiason, Kelly, Kosar, Moon, Cunningham, even Jim Everett. There are way better QBS ranked below that are better than Elway. To name a few, Steve Young, Troy Aikman, Kurt Warner, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, to name a few. Keep in mind that until his last two seasons, before ridding the coattails of Terrell Davis and Winning the SB, probably Kelly was considered better.

It was only because of his greatness those teams ever got to a superbowl much less 3!! Finally when Davis came BAM. Back to back and that was at the end of his career. I wish he'd had better teams more often....no telling how many rings he'd have.

    • @bvbxiong5791
      @bvbxiong5791 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reeves didn't hate Elway. They just disagreed on Offensive philosophies. Elway naturally wanted a more passing attack Offense and Reeves wanted to grind it out with the running game. When Elway and Shanahan started to develop passing plays behind Reeves back is when Reeves put his foot down and was ran out of Denver. However, Elway and Reeves made up and Reeves went to his HOF inauguration.

  • @Kdonn20

    So many morons on here saying Marino was a better big game QB... How? Elway went to 5 Super Bowls...He played poorly in the Super Bowl, but he took 3 teams to the Super Bowl who had no business being there. Elway went to 5 and Marino went to 1. Which means Elway had to win 2-3 playoff games each time he went to those Super Bowls. Each playoff game is a big game and Elway won more playoff games then Marino. Pure passer it is Marino, better winner John Elway.

    • @iamhungey12345
      @iamhungey12345 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My issue is that they didn't seem to realize that it's possible to defend Marino without bashing Elway. Not to mention what was rarely mentioned was that Elway was constrained by Reeves' outdated offensive system and mediocre pass protection that can make any QBs numbers look weak.

    • @TheChallengerXX
      @TheChallengerXX 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Elway had no chance in those Super Bowls either, he dragged poodles into pens with pitbulls with his clutchness. He may not have the stats, but throw him on any of Montana's teams and he has 400+ TD passes all time and maybe 5-6 SB rings. Marino himself said he would choose him if he had to build a team around any QB that wasn't him.

    • @drlee2
      @drlee2 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, and he did it in the SAME freaking era as Marino! lol The excuse for Marino is that he didn't have enough talent. Well, Elway didn't exactly have HOF talent in the 80s either and he carried his team to 3 SB appearances in the same era that Marino only made 1 SB appearance.
