    I own a Nio ET7 so Im very unbiased and need to defend my purchase 🤣disclaimer allert. However I feel the need to comment some things. I also own a model 3 performance, facelift with the octovalve or whatever it is called so I have that as a reference.
    Autopilot: I agree the accelerate, deaccelerate is a bit annoying. But mostly because I can see the kwh being wasted (it shows the kw being pulled from the battery live, in the small screen in front of you). I dont really notice it that much. But I agree, it is annoying and it should have just kept current speed. The tesla does this better. When it comes to steering I feel they are both bad? Cant say the nio does more errors than the tesla, Id say about the same. The good thing about the Nio, if you keep hands on the wheel and do tiny corrections (you dont really notice it that much, becuase you are allready driving if you get what Im trying to say, is that it does NOT CANCEL the pilot like tesla. I find that super frustrating that tesla cancels the pilot as soon as you twitch the steering wheel a little bit.
    Phantom breaking I find this worse in the tesla. Both harder and more often.
    Nio pilot (the stupid kid): This is like a norwegian saying, making a storm in a small glass of water. You can turn it off, and it stays off. Problem solved. (for refference Bjørn, this is like saying its super annoying you cant adjust the steering wheel on the steering wheel of a tesla. You just set it once in the menu and it stays that way, problem solved).
    Options not being saved/ being reset next time car wakes up: This is Nios weakest point, I agree. This is just beyond stupid. Should be fixed in an update. It does not reset if you use camp mode or similar like in tesla, so for long trips I always leave the heater on so the settings stays while charging etc.
    Nios founder was a software guy (chinese finn.no, for Norwegian viewers), like Elon musk (atleast paypal), so come on, this should be possible to fix. Looking at norwegian owner groups, it seems like its not going fast enough unfortunately. which suprises me to be honest. But the ET7 is the first car to use the new platform 2.0, which also means a new OS unlike the ES8. Its like going from windows 95 to XP which was a big deal back in the day ;) So sure there are bugs, and translation from chinese to english / norwegian probably did not make things better.
    Charging speed: I agree, it almost seems like the preheater does not work or doesnt matter. My fastest charging speed with the et7 was 127 kw, and I did not even preheat. Normally Id say I get around 80kw. Sometimes 110 if Im lucky. worst case without any preheating / driving 40-50... However if Nio expands the PSS network, and in addition uses the new v3 PSS which is faster than todays v2 this would to some extent eliminate this problem. And If I have to take a long trip that is 10 hours (model 3) or 11 hours (et7) I would never choose the model 3.
    I got an update for the ET7 today (FOTA). I read in a norwegian owners group that it is supposed to bring down consumption by 10-20 %. (Apparently this only affects heating so the total is really not that affected. Have not seen any info on this though). This is quite massive, would have been fun to see this tested.
    Bjørn is allready a bit on topic in his video, but I feel he has given all the goodwill to good ol' tesla :) they have perfected the model s since 2012(?). the et7 is a on a new platform, and a completely new OS. The ES8 is not even capable to run the new OS. (I acutally dont like this as I think they should have made one OS for all cars but maybe thats just not possible). The new ES8 will of course come with the new software..
    But if you look at the car. oh my god. Super comfortable. Nice looker. unoficcially faster than a model 3 p (3,5 sec vs 3,6.) - so it cant be that much slower than a model s LR. Also if you lower the air suspension and stiffens it up, it kinda feels a bit like the much smaller and nimbler model 3 performance (the performance is of course much more "bad boy", and you have track mode!). But Im so used to the comfort now, that I never do that for longer periods of time. I found out you can spec comfort springs and 3.8 sec (3,5 unofficially) in the custom drive mode, and this is what the car should be in from standard. It should just allways be in that mode, period. I was lucky enough to get mine before 31.12 and paid 590 000. for eqs comfort. faster than model 3 performance. 2 ton tow hitch. HUD. Kick sensor. Soft close doors. and the same key as tesla (using my phone, so I dont need to drag around keys. And the car detects me approaching, first the lights turn on, then later the door handles present. and they are with built in light.- its just so nice :)
    PS! 590 000 is with BAS. BAS costs 2000 pr month. but even if you add 160 000 to the 590 000, its like pocket change compared to the legacy auto. For the 2000 NOK you also get minimum 200 kwh fastcharging, which is almoust as much as the 2000 NOK pr month to start with. I got 400 kwh since I bought early, so this is almoust worth twice as much as the 2000. If you do some driving at work and need fast kwh this is actually a very sweet deal.
    But remember, Nio is actually not like legacy auto, its was born electric.
    So back to software complaints - its good with feedback! Maybe now Nio listens :)

      That sounds like a steal at that price! A lot of car for the money. S LR is obviously much faster; It has more HP, and weighs several hundred kilos less. The NT7 is still a fast car though.

      @@topgunm yes i see it is 0.3 faster actually. I thought the lr was 3.3s to 100 km/h, but i see it is only 3.2

    The software is more like a region problem, NIO just needs more time to understand the need of Europeans.

      Users have told NIO what they like and dont like in recent workshops. So apart from fixes I expect to see improvements for regional preferences coming soon.

    As a shareholder I'm glad to hear that you think the car is good value for the money. Only downside is the software, and I'm sure that'll be fixed eventually. I think you'll be impressed with the ET5 when you test that!

    Also a shareholder like others. Its like tesla in the beginning. The important part is to realize where to get better and as nio listen to the community like they did with release in germany but no buy button, they will fix the software and make it better and tailor it to europeans. Msby even customize NOMI voice would be funny as a easteregg or so.
    Im 101% sure nio doing the right thing here and gonna be the samsung of automobile like tesla is the apple of it

      I am an owner and ex UAB, NIO does not listen to its European owners at all. The no buy option is an example of how NIO doesn't listen and doesn't understand the European market. Another one is the AVAS, that still is set to chinese regulations (30 kph) and makes driving the car at low speed intrusive. ES8 been om the market for 18 months and only improvement released is the manual battery heater.

    I have a Tesla Y and I have software upgrades every 2 months, i am in Canada and I have battery issues in very cold winter and gost braking on autopilot, those are not a nio issues but very common with all EV. Backseat folding and charging will be adressed in the current model update. Nio is 7 years behind tesla inception, give them only a year …

    Thank you for finally testing ET7. I have preordered the car, only waiting for your test. Your consistant test methods give great confidence. Nio is making good hardware. But software lacks a lot. I will not buy it till they deliver on promised funktions. For me one of the most important points is reliable autosteer. Please make comparison who has the best system. Greetings from Germany

      P.S. I have fully equipped Ioniq 5 and new Model 3 Performance. Hyundai drives more pleasant, but the Tesla is so shockingly fast and much better in autosteer, that ALL OTHERS GO HOME!

    As someone commented, I think the software is the region specific problem, NIO just needs some more time to tune it. For NP, even my 2023 Y does ghost brakes under the sun while using AP, the windshield wiper will also turn on during a super sunny day a few times while using AP, n the logic is not allowing to turn windshield wiper off while using AP. Lol.

    The autosteer works good when I drove on highways in China, maybe nio pilot rely on HD map too much and nio didn't fine tune for european roads

    17:00 Nope, it is below 2 kW, not 3 kW. 5 A * 400 V = 2.000 W. That is way to low to heat up some hundred kg battery at low temperatures.

      ES8 gen 1 uses MobileEye by Intel. ET7 is home brewed and they are way behind.

    Interesting about the heating. I get hotter air for a moment, when slowing down (e-Niro). Do you think it takes the opportunity to heat the cabin, because it can't charge that fast?

    I guess they got that Nio more quiet when they fixed that rear seat. That way they could separate trunk from cabin completely and build some sound barrier behind rear seat. IMO

      That's a region thing i suppose... Cuz in China we don't need to load huge stuffs like furnitures(in city)...Also most of people would choose public transportations for travel...So a car is just for go to work, fetch food, and pick up kids.

    When I got my model Y, before my account got linked to the car some of the settings were very buggy and weird for example sentry and dashcam mode wouldn’t work properly, its amazing what requires an account and what doesnt but its no where near as bad as this

    I'm confused as to why NIO would spec a press car with Black exterior and Black interior. Very dull colours that hide the cars clean modern design. Very strange.

    NOP+ does auto steering much better than basic NP. ET7 is the only car that NIO really have damper tuned. If you try ES7, still shitty as NT1.

      cant say that I recognise them to be honest. If anything I think Nio is a bit more apple / woman centered (not that I think women likes the annoying blings tbh) than teslas more straight to point manly man approach

      Regarding the backseat cannot be folded, I owned a series 7 and S class before, never had the need to fold down the backseats. Just saying.

    Does the yoyo cruise control appear in all driving modes? It sounds like a trick to save energy -- electric motors are very inefficient in high rpm low torque regime, so doing on/off switching is in fact more efficient. But then they should provide a drive mode where priority is passenger comfort.
