- The leader of the opposition in Mozambique, Venâncio Mondlane will today address his supporters virtually following violent protests in the country.
Mondlane called for a nationwide stay-away disputing the election results won by FRELIMO Presidential candidate, Daniel Chapo. There is calm in Maputo but tension is brewing.
The mayor of Quelimane, Manuel de Araújo spoke to SABC News International Editor, Sophie Mokoena on the current situation in Mozambique.

I totally agree with you guys she talks like she is an ANC or FRELIMO or even ZANUP envoy. How can she ask questions like a clown. I'm very disappointed on Sofia the way she handles her self when people fight for they democracy and corruption off 50yrs and we still have ma Sofia behave like things they normally in Mozambique. For those who don't know ED Mnangwangwa did terrible thing he opened his border for Zimbabweans to go in Mozambique voting for FRELIMO. What kind of country does that.

She is a SAn who is feeling the heat after the Mozambicans closed the roads which the SAn trucks have been using. She is merely doing this interview to save the SAn businesses not the Mozambicans who have been suffering for all these decades. @joseph all this years South African government never locked gates for Mozambican people and they didn’t have violence in their country back then. Now they are experiencing violence and they really need South African government to open borders but South African people lock up the doors. Becareful that our people are not used to overthrow their own government because that’s what i see here

I admire Dr Araujo’s intelligence and ease of communicating. For the journalist, she must know that Mozambicans live in suffering. This means that the high seas will not affect them because they are already there.
No matter what price we have to pay, we just want freedom. Freedom to choose our rulers, and our ruling party. On the last 50 years FRELIMO has proved in many different ways that doesn't meet the requirements to rule the country. SABC Reporter seems to have a bias line of questioning just because RSA is now feeling the pinch economically.. 57 years of dictatorship by Frelimo should be challenged.
