    From a tile guy for the past 17 years I do like watching your video's on some of the other things I don't generally deal with.
    Dewalt is probably the best overall all saw but expensive and I've used it for many years until the motor finally gave out. I looked at the saw you're using but it still sprays and drips to much water for my liking. Anyway...good job explaining how these saws work and the proper way to use them. I appreciate that. Keep up the good work and look forward to more videos as I start remodeling my own house for a change.

      Well it was one of the Home Depot specials 5 or 6 inch blade, in order to do a full sheet you have to remove the guard hence sprayed in the face... :) I knew what I was getting into so it was no surprise and it got me through two baths in the house. Would have been nice to have a nice one at hand but was not worth the expense.

    I would love to have a tile cutter like that. The little table one I have takes much longer and often leaves jagged cuts. Now I'm contemplating buying one of these for my bathroom reno since I've got 2' X 2' tiles. Im doing the floors and walls in an 11' X 11' room. I dread it with the tiny table saw. Thanks Shannon.

    • @Maxid1
      @Maxid1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the table isn't stable you'll get a bad edge. If you don't have enough water on the tile that will also cause the blade to wander. If you push the tile through too fast you'll get an uneven edge. If the blade isn't a continuous diamond blade (and it's a notched blade) you'll get rough edges.
      You can get good results even with a really cheap saw as long as you're doing everything else right.

    Thanks for a great video. I am doing a backslash in my kitchen using glass and glass mosaic tiles. I've seen youtube videos using a double sticky sided adhesive material instead of mastic. I have used that in the past with a non glass mosaic and it worked great; no problem so far and the install is about 3 yrs old. What are your thoughts on this for glass mosaic tile. The surface is a bit rough so should I use a cement backer board or just try to smooth surface?

    Wet tile saws can be messy. If the temperatures outside are sub-zero and you don't have an indoor space to cut tiles, can an anti-freeze such as alcohol or automotive glycol be added to the water to prevent freezing between cuts? It would stop the water from freezing, but could it damage the seals or components of the pump?

    We had our bathroom done with ceramic tiles. Where the tiles are cut along the outer vertical aluminum trim piece, every single cut tile is chipped. Not only chipped but not cut square. We paid a couple handymen to do it who apparently had experience. However now we see the finished product. The installers are gone. We need to know if chipped tiles is normal and unavoidable ? I'm using a very similar DeWalt to cut brick veneers, but I've been having a problem with the blade grabbing and shooting the tile forward. The 1st/bottom row needs 3/4" off. Since I'm cutting them lengthwise there's not really a safe way to hold them and still keep my fingers... Any advice?

    • @HouseImprovements
      @HouseImprovements  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bricks need to be held down. If your fingers are to close to blade then maybe you can use a clamp or stick to hold them down?

    dumb question (I'm used to work with wood), you put your hands where there is a 'don't put your hands here' sticker, is this safe? with a wood radial saw the wood can get stuck on the blade and pull your hands with it into the blade, this cannot happen here?

  • @colbybud
    @colbybud 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    that saw would of been so much better if they improved on the 4090. the pump is not big enough to overcome the head pressure to the blade. they took away the variable speed motor and cleaning nozzle. the hose is of poor quality and the wate pumps have failed. the bearings are known to fail and cause blade wobble. the one I got wobbled straight out of the box. its also not supported very well by ridgid from what I hear. and they still sell this one even though the 4092 is out. so consumers unwittingly buy an inferior product thats just wrong
