- Live opname van het lunchconcert dat Jos Maters gaf op 5 augustus 2016 in de Martinikerk van Groningen, op het beroemde orgel aldaar. Dit was het openingsstuk van het concert. Met dank aan Hans Beek voor het maken van de audio opname, en Bram de Graaf en Johan Los voor het registreren.

Beautiful clarity and articulation of each voice and entry in the fugue. I am staggered at your achievement as, apparently, a very young man Jos. Also, huge compliments to your sound engineer !
I love the sense of effort in the Prelude. Some music should skip along effortlessly. Not this. This is wading through quicksand. Huge weights being shifted. Wonderful. This one's a keeper.

Le T° est idéal ... la registration subtile, qui prend en compte l'acoustique du lieu et valorise la clarté du discours musical ...l'ornementation aussi, qui vient réhausser l'oeuvre, dans le grand respect du plus pur style baroque. I had never paid this prelude and fugue much attention, thinking it was just a light-weight work, but I now hear how great it is and how wrong I was in neglecting it.

Nice rendition! Just the right tempo for the acoustics of the church. He went a little heavy on the pedal stops during the prelude, in my opinion. I remember playing this piece on my last Christmas Eve as a Protestant. The arpeggios have a bell-like quality that reminds me of Christmas without ever stating it explicitly.

Um dos mais jovens e melhores organistas do mundo. Lamentavelmente o Brasil não dá valor a esse tipo grandioso de instrumento que é o órgão de tubos. As igrejas optaram por violões, baterias e outros que nada tem de sacral e nem de religioso. Realmente uma lástima. Viva a Europa que nos presenteia com fantásticos concertos. Alô Cambai2, show!

Non. Bach n'est pas un compositeur comme Mozart on Beethoven. Il est la personnification du genie creatif humain. Inegale, et inegalable. Hors concours tout simplement. :)

Yes it certainly is the case that the Netherlands is producing excellent young organists these days as a review of recordings posted on TH-cam from the likes of Jos Maters, Harm Woltjer and Gert van Hoef shows. Hope fully they keep posting!
I agree. Im wondering, how it is possible, where are there young talents from, what is their background. I would add Lourens Schaak, Willem den Boer, Gerwin Boswijk, Kees Verhoek and many others to the list of young talent organist in Netherland.

The trio "la montalbani" of Giovanni legrenzi. Bach liked it SO much that he copied some themes in this BWV 574 !

Mooi en tegelijk luchtig gespeeld. Veel greep op de stof (die allesbehalve makkelijk is!).
Over de opstelling van de registerknoppen zou ik graag eens in discussie willen gaan met een orgelbouwer. Zo te zien staan de knoppen van de pedaalregisters helemaal BOVENaan! Zitten de trekkers voor het positief soms op het positief zelf?
Voor die discussie moet u bij wijlen Arp Schnitger zijn, dus dat wordt wat lastig... De registerknoppen van het rugwerk zitten inderdaad in het rugwerk zelf.

Very expressive performance, although the current fashion for separating the notes so much in a semi staccato is unfortunate. But what a pity that he loses the tempo altogether at the set of blick chords with rests in between just before the end of the fugue. A disappointing moment.

I think you're playing it too fast for the organ to speak.
Mhh..etwas viel tataa .tataa betont sehr viel ...man hört auch...finde ich..das er dem stück noch nicht 100% gewachsen ist...aber sonst toll gespielt...fuge finde ich nicht schlecht..bravo ..tonaufnahme sagt nicht viel über die Register-Wahl..im kirchenraum klingt es sicher anders..so gefällt mir die Register-Wahl nicht wirklich..klingt etwas verschwommen...
Wenn ich hier schon wieder einige Klugscheisser lesen muss, die daran irgendwas auszusetzen haben... der Junge war 19 (!!) als das aufgenommen wurde. Aufzeigen ihr Korinthenkacker, wer von euch mit 19 Jahren irgendetwas (außer rumnörgeln) auch nur halb so gut konnte, wie dieser Junge Orgel spielen.
Wenn Du anderer Meinung bist, sei Dir dies unbenommen. Deshalb sind die Menschen, die anderer Meinung sind noch lange keine Klugscheisser und Korinthenkacker. Bitte Argumente statt Beleidigungen!

Das ist immer dasselbe unter solchen Videos: Hobby-Musiker, C-Organisten, pensionierte Realschul-Lehrer für Erdkunde und Musik und sonstige "Experten" meinen, sich wichtig machen zu müssen und dozieren über Tempo, Phrasierung, Artikulation, Akustik etc.
"Junger Mann, sie sollten ein angemessenes Tempo wählen und die akustischen Gegebenheiten mit einbeziehen". Was für ein selbstgefälliges, arrogantes Gefasel. Wenn sie's in irgendeiner Hinsicht besser können (was ich ernsthaft bezweifle) bin ich neugierig und gespannt auf ein Bach Präludium aus ihren Händen, ansonsten.....
@@marcfranke4254 Wenn Sie's interessiert: Ich bin ein alter Mann, mein Orgellehrer war Erster Präfekt bei den Thomanern, Schüler und später Student von Karl Straube in Leipzig. Sie können davon ausgehen, dass ich mit Bachs Orgelwerken aufgewachsen bin und ich eine qualifizierte Ausbildung an der Orgel erhalten habe. (Und übrigens mit 19 Jahren meine C-Prüfung schon 2 Jahre hatte ...)
Und jetzt sind Sie dran, zu belegen, was Sie mehr qualifiziert, sich hier so wichtig zu tun und andere runter zu machen.

Haben Sie sich die anderen Kommentare mal durchgelesen ? 95% davon sind massiv positiv bis begeistert, da wird einfach eine Leistung anerkannt, unabhängig vom eigenen Geschmack oder Empfinden, darum geht's mir.
Und wenn wir schon beim gegenseitigen "Spielzeuge zeigen" sind: ich bin seit über 30 Jahren Berufs-Musiker, habe 20 Jahre an einem großen deutschen Opernhaus als Pianist und Dirigent gearbeitet und bin jetzt Dozent an einer namhaften deutschen Musik-Hochschule.
