  • In this month's Blues class we explored the wonderful world of Texas Shuffle. This is a Jukin' style of Blues dancing that is done to music with a strong shuffle beat and is characterised by lots of fancy footwork with the feet slipping and sliding across the floor, as well as a strong push and pull in the connection style.
This is a bit more technical that some of the styles of Blues that we usually teach, so it might take a bit more practice to get the hang of, but it's worth the effort as it's so much fun and has loads of space for expression and creativity. A great way to get good at this is to just practice your slidey footwork a few minutes a day until it feels like second nature. Please make sure you wear slippery shoes to ensure that you keep your knees safe from injury!
P.S. apologies for the poor sound quality - we had some issues with the microphones.
