    I was there last week. I tried several different types of bait. The anchovies worked the best. Out of season so no keepers but the action was there.

      Yes, Anchovies are definitely the best. Even though you have rebait most the time. It is worth it for sure, no keepers? My buddy just went during 4th of July and caught like 4 keepers.. but it is a hit or miss when it comes to crabbing

    I think if you flip them upside down, they will relax and maybe go to sleep. Then remove the lines. Noticed on your video of the glass bottle Coors. I prefer to use aluminum beer can instead of glass bottle.

    • @reelrealing
      @reelrealing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! Ill definitely try that nice time! And yeah, i prefer the bottles too but the we were trying to minimize weight but we had to walk a couple hundred feet off the jetties! But cheers brotha, thanks for stopping by!

    Good job but remember you have to fold the back legs or the front claws

    Good catch. I was at that same spot this weekend, just snaring on the other side toward the beach. Managed to pull a few keepers, but was curious about casting into the harbor inlet like in this video. At the time the tide was pushing a hard current into the harbor, so I didn't think my snare would stay in place.
    What's your thoughts on the harbor inlet versus the shore? I'd imagine the crab love the food supply coming out of the harbor, but that current can be pretty strong.
    Also, definitely anchovies. The crabs seem to like the squid when they're hungry, but anchovy are practically crab crack.

      Yeah, the current could be really difficult to cast in and have your bait stay in m place. I was having a bunch of trouble with it but I figure once I made a few casts. My bait would stay stationary, which was weird.. but every hook set I made with it staying stationary. There was crab on the other end...
      My prediction was once the cast was getting dragged by the current. The crab would grab a hold of it.. but in between the jetties, I caught most of my Dungeness crabs but it could be good from shore too! Even when the current was super aggressive, the crabs are still able to hold it and eat...
      I would just highly recommend putting alot more weight in your snare or attached to it. Yes, anchovies are crack too them and I feel like they have more of a scent to them then 🐙.. cheers! Thanks for commenting!

    I search bodayga bay crabbing and saw your video. I'm heading there on Monday hopefully. Nice to see you getting some action. I know it's been a while but How long did you have the snares soaking for?

    • @reelrealing
      @reelrealing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice man, I'm glad you found me lol and I was roughly letting it sit for 5mins. I was using anchovies that's why but if it was something more durable like calamari. I would let it sit a little long 7 to 10mins and that was only one dungeness... Unfortunately

    • @luabed5183

      Nice... I never tried anchovies. Maybe I'll take both. Thanks bro.

    what gear were you using ? I’ve seen videos where it says rods must be at least 10 feet and mine is literally 8 🙄

    • @reelrealing
      @reelrealing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, you can use an 8 foot, if it has a heavy back bone. Mine is a 9 foot fierce 2.. if he doesn't have a heavy back bone. I wouldnt recommend it, it might snap your rod. Your local bait shops and tackle shop could direct you for the right build. If you need more help
