Hi bros, Bodhi dharma was a prince who belongs to Kanchi Kingdom. Which is now known as Kanceheepuram which is a district in Tamilnadu, South India. He was mastered in all the martial artforms and medicinal techniques. Even he had the ability to control all the five elements (panchabhoothas). He went to China after getting the guidance from his Gurumatha (wife of teacher). Hypnotisation is known as "Nookku Varmam" which is being teached in gurukulam for few people in the ancient days.
The martial artform which he performed in this sequence was known as "Kalari" which was made by Indians. The martial art form Kung Fu was Derived from Kalari which was taught to them by BodhiDharma. They call his as "Damo"

Fact : That's Bodhidharma, a healer/ sage/ scientist/ fighter from Tamil land who went to China to preach the people and also to know about their culture. This movie is a must watch! Suriya's most difficult movie, he got trained in circus, fighting and worked on his body as well!

lol Bodhidharma was a tamil siddha is an archaologically proven fact since tamil was the oldest language spoken in southern peninsula. The word peninsula itself is tamil = penin(woman's) + sula(womb) since the shape of south india is like a womb. He is also the inventor of tea, shaolin martial art form and discovered various other medicinal herbs. I pity your jealousy when you say ''DEFINITELY not tamil''.
Lets keep aside your ridiculous logic about the origin of the word "peninsular" aside (which is a Latin word and it has it's own meaning) and let us talk about few facts which you clearly have overlooked to push your delusional ideas and baseless rumors here.
Whether or not Tamil is oldest, we are talking about 4century AD, by then South India clearly had various other thriving cultures. Not to mention Sangam literature does't include Pallavas as a Tamil kingdom because their geography and the court language is different.

The legend called Ta Mo is a Chinese Buddhist legend, who was influential in spreading Mahayana Buddhism in East asian region ruled by Tang dynasty (China). He according to Chinese is a religious figure whose Buddhist ideologies complemented their martial arts ethics.
If you had any idea on Buddhism in India you probably know that there are two major sections of Buddhism in India. I'm sure you dont know much about the history of Mahayana Buddhism, the relationship between Mauryan and Satavahana & Pallava dynasties and which region in South India followed Buddhism. Had you known the history, you would have realized Buddhism was never part of the extreme southern most part of India(Tamils and Keralas), they had the culture of their own.
Instead of pitying on others, learn few facts and develop analytical skills before that.

Let us, once again! talk about facts, the person call Ta mo(Dammo Japanese) is hailed as a legend in Chinese Buddhism and India does't have a clue till Sholin temple became famous in recent times. You trying to nitpick/ allegations on Mahayana does't change the fact that the Chinese follow Mahayana Buddhism and TaMO an important figure in their Buddhism.
Also, dont talk rubbish, Ashoka reign left the highest archaeological evidences in the ancient history than any other king. His contributions towards Buddhism is extensively covered.
Looking at how you talk about Buddhism and defending Hinduism.. I can certainly tell you got no idea about Buddhism and what Buddha's opinion about theology (BTW his answer was that it is irrelevant whether god exists or not). in this particular scene suriya plays the tamil prince bodhi also known as "dhamo" in china. he is a scientist, sage, a well talented warrior and a doctor who lived in the 4th century ,who is also an expert in "kalaripayattu" which is a martial art form which is the mother of all the other martial arts including karate and kungfu,.he went to china in 4th century inorder to share his knowledge to the world meanwhile he taught them kalaripayattu and varmakalai which the chinese call kung fu. the shaolin temple was built as showing respect for him and they worship him as a god there. so basically your karate, kung fu ,ju juitsu and many other martial arts forms came from kalaripayattu our tamilan traditional martial arts.
