Even as a tamil I can understand your guys confusing impression about that scene. This scene without its context may comes as OverTheTop, weird and supernatural. But the supernatural thing is part of the story. This movie is more classy, has better story and logic than Suriyas Khatarnak Khiladi (Anjaan).
Dont forget this movie was directed by AR Murugadoss who is one of the best directors of tamil Cinemas. He did :
