- A wet Summer Saturday from 1988 at Doncaster(via brief stop for change of trains at Sheffield)with some of the holiday extras featuring Mk1's and NSE Mk2 stock behind Class 31's and 47's, plus some HST's and variety of first and second generation DMU's.

15mph through Sheffield rear Power car is doing more than that!!
Nice NSE MK2 rake with buffet in too.
Thanks keep them coming!
Thankyou for the memories, I used to go over that footbridge to work every morning.
You put thease on to bring us nostalgic pleasure..What can I say except. Fantastic
Fantastic trainspotting at Doncaster and Sheffield in summer 1988
It was quite a spirited departure from the HST at Sheffield! Keeping these oldies coming - another one just uploaded now :-)
Great again Darren! to think those 150/2's and 156's etc are over 25 years old now is amazing! when the 101's,108's on this video are the same age!
Wish we could go back to this time!
Rob
Thank you Keith. Gotta have a bit of nostalgia every now and then - hopefully one every week in 2013.
Thanks Steve. Glad you enjoyed my movies from 2012(and these older ones of course), and hopefully there's many more still to come.
What a cracking vid. Doncaster just ain't the same.....
Thank you very much. I'm pleased to have so much footage of the final years of loco haulage before more DMU's, Voyagers, and the like took over. Getting NSE stock here was a real treat too - those were the days of proper seaside extras!
Great shots Darren and more great classic footage - amazing pick'n'mix HST set as well - wow that last HST was clagging well - also interesting the experimental class 47 fitted with a Valenta engine at 3.38 (ho! ho!)
Thanks again for processing and uploading your archive footage
Another great classic upload Darren - liking the amount of clag being chucked out by the HST in the last clip, never seen so much pour out of a HST before!!
As an ex-railwayman, great to see proper locos and proper train lengths. NSE at Doncaster! Nice video.
This is interesting I've always what diesel trains ran on the Doncaster to Leeds servcie prior to electrification
Thanks Rob. Very true, we forget how old the 15x range are now, probably due to all their refurbishments and new liveries. The old DMU's were still a favourite for me back then though - oh for a Tardis!
great video *****
Excellent viewing Darren...Many thanks again for some great videos this year. Roll on 2013 :)
Tardis!God yeah! I loved the class 120's the noise from em and they used to fly aswell! And them dam comfy seats in the break cars ex 1'st!
Have a good Xmas!
Really enjoyed that Darren. didn't know the 253 HST'S worked this far up. i always remember them from the wcml. great vid mate.
Cheers Tony. The 253 HST's worked the Cross Country services like Newcastle to Plymouth at this time.
Thanks, glad it brought back some good childhood memories.
Great video. Notice the HST DVT in older intercity colours at about 9:10!
YES LIKE! Intercity - Valenta - HSTs... Keep em coming!
Good old Intercity liveries and NSE. Loved Mk1 compartments. Nice and comfy for overnight trips from Aberdeen to Donny. Of course, the East Coast was never quite the same without the Deltics.
Thank you. Possibly the Valenta was smoking after sitting on idle for a while before departure - makes for a good clip though :-)
Thanks Chris. Yes, we took 47's for granted back then(a bit like 66's today perhaps?), and 91's were just about to start taking over from HST's on the ECML back then.
another great video keep them coming
Thank you. Some more InterCity Valenta HST's feature in my Christmas upload!
Network Southeast going a long way north again!
Thank you.
Thanks Ian. Think that pick 'n' mix HST was a 9 car set too. Thought you'd like the 'Valenta' HST :-)
we still use most of those trains now!!!!!!!!
Thanks. Another uploaded and more coming all the time.
Indeed - back in the days when HST's weren't in their currented muted(or MTU'd!)form.
Thank you very much :-)
Bit of a mix on the Doncaster-Leeds locals - could be 141, 142, 144, 150, or 156 even!
Excellent video, which is why the HST Valenta smoke so much???
bye bye
Thanks. No, very different there now, and this was only a Saturday so no huge variety of freight locos that would pass in the 80's and 90's either.
u know ive been thinking that the old diesels look pretty nice back then
Dont think ive ever seen an hst at full chat thru those middle roads at Donny....what was line speed back then?
things dont sound right without the vals and the deltics these days ;(
