- Several times I have showed The Sunken Garden with daffodils and tulips. But now they are gone ...
Instead of the spring flush I now have many foliage plants in containers and also some few flowering plants, for example perennials.
Hope that you will enjoy my little tour, also in the woodland garden.

I love having hostas in pots, I can move them around and right into my garage for winter and they always come back in spring and love their pots. I top them up with a little compost in spring. Thank you for the video of your sunken garden, it's beautiful.

The horizonal growing plant in the pots I belive is also called Solomons seal. I love how it fills the middle. Your use of plants that meander and spread is supurb!
You are correct; it is. I have it growing in my garden here in Tasmania Australia 42 Degrees South. It loves the shade.

Thankyou so much Claus, I loved the sunken garden, I have an armillery very similar to yours and I love a bit of height in my garden and love plants for their shades of green and variety of foliage. Of course mine ison a much smaller scale, but I love the use of pots and move them around to suit. You have created such lovely displays and your efforts speak for themselves. ❤

That was interesting and helpful that Solomon's Seal can be grown in pots. I have quite a big clump and would love to also have some elsewhere but do not have the space to plant it in the ground.

Woodland gardens are my absolute favorite. I wrote down all the plant names to see if I can find them here across the pond. My favorites are chartreuse and whites. Happy gardening... and thanks for sharing.

So many beautiful combinations of varieties of colors and textures, it’s very inspiring! I will attempt something similar but in the ground since I have plenty of that but not many containers. 😉 I have to say I’m feeling chilly seeing you in sandals and shorts while it’s 52 where I live in the US. I am so inspired! I love the perennials in pots - I took notes so I can try it at my home. Be careful with Anthriscus sylvestris. We have something similar growing along our roads in Pennsylvania but it is poisonous hemlock which causes a horrible rash.
this was beautiful, I also am a lover of variations of leave size, colour in particular chartreuse..I eschew the more showy and multicoloured flowers..In answer to your question, I think just more of your garden it is such a delight to see this appreciation of the variation in nature, but also your aesthetic showing contrasts which stimulate the part of our brain which reacts to this juxtaposition of variation thank you

Most of my special plants must live in pots because in Florida we have beach sand instead of soil. I bought my first hydrangea and it is supposed to flower all summer. Here is hoping that it grows!

Wow! Claus, I just love your sunken garden. It is elegant and truly awesome! Question, what do you do with the shrubs that outgrow their current pots e.g the hysocarpus opulifolius. To fit it into the scheme/design, do you repot it or put it in the ground?

Claus, I loved your book and I’m trying to follow in your footsteps. I’m new to gardening but how on earth do you stop the slugs??
I am so pleased to hear that you like my book and find inspiration in it. Luckily slugs are not a problem in my garden.
It is lovely.But I have a problem with plantig perenials in ceramic pots during winter ,although they are frost resistant.They often crack and are expensive.I cannot use plastic pots.Any tip?Sorry my English from translaror.Mirka
It is often the winter wet that makes the pots crack. I keep all my potted perennials under cover during winter.
