The size differences size of Raam and the Ghost girl is really a Andre vs Hulk type match.
He is 2-3 times the size of the lady toons. And to think people were joking why he only brings a 'knife' to a fight.
Funny how RAAM eats bullets for breakfast in the Gears games but he gets bodied by projectiles in this game

I respect that max doesn't complain about how people play against him. That Shago that he lost to would have had me tilted. I hate defensive opportunists in games. They piss me off so bad. I'm more of an in your face type of player. Which probably explains why I suck at fighting games and COD.

Thats how fighting games are played mate. Thats like running into a street fight full flailing your arms and then wondering why you got knocked out in a single punch (ive been there lol). Best offence is a great defence.
Seriously, though. The only reason Shago is cool is that he's a giant salt shaker in a game that sanctions salt-inducing behavior. KI revels in cheesy shit-posturing, which is part of its charm. So Shago is thematically cool.
Every time I fight against him, though, I imagine he's being played by the kind of person who is level 50, but doesn't attempt the ladder, because he wants to filter his exhibition matches for silver opponents and below. He's the kind of character that makes you hate his players, even though you know almost nothing about them.

I think Raam may be the shittiest character in Killer Instinct from a viewer perspective.
He has two moves. Stomp and Stab. And half the time the screen in covered in bird shit so you can't even tell those apart. He's definitely cool looking, but that's only when you can actually see him through all the crap he clutters the screen with.
An' remember folks... This be from a *_VIEWER PERSPECTIVE,_* not that th' actual Raam be th' shittiest character in _KI_ period. Don't misread comments b'fore replyin', mates.
But I have to say that havin' that Kryllstorm in a certain way for an instinct makes it seem a bit 'ore interestin' than other people's instincts...

Wow you're actually very smart with that Shadow Jago, keeping your distance was really smart. Spamming fire ball was essential since if he got anywhere close to you, you were going to get screwed.

When other characters win, it can be impressive or at least educational. When Shago wins, it always feels like he just shit-fisted his way into it.
They should have made the slow tank able to actually plow through projectiles(like a real tank should do). That Shago pressure was insane.

One of RAAM's biggest strength is that he is scary as fuck, aesthetically and gameplay wise. You loose mentally then loose the match.

I kind of did to. He was like that one guy who spams hadoukens with Ryu in [Insert Street Fighter Game Name Here] Ranked Match all day and thinks they are better than most people.
It's sad some people won't even try anything else but the cheapest way to a victory, I mean where did all the FUN factor in games disappeared, seems that a vast majority of gamers these days just want that WIN even if they themselves don't really enjoy the path to it :/
I actually found it wise to do so since if Raam gets in he is fucked, so he played the keep away game for the most part. You could see how he tried to go in close range for a while and that only got him bodied so he went and played it safe again, its not shago´s fault that raamen cant take zoning
no he used zoneing to beat a command grab type character if that makes you mad then you might honestly want to get out of fighting games since thats the built in counter to them

Could anyone tell me what character in this game is most similar to Alex in SF5? He's my main in that game and my favorite fighting game character, and now that I'm getting into this game, I want to play a character I'd be more comfortable with.

Yeah, Thunder is like Alex with some weird mobility options. I'm not too familiar with Alex beyond what I've watched, though. He's like a footsy grappler, right?
Otherwise...yeah, chief Thunder is probably your closest bet to Alex. RAAM is almost there, but his footsies (while excellent) are really goddamn complicated.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Gears franchise and I could understand why they used RAAM instead of Skorge. But from what I've seen, the player base for Gears is pretty low and people who haven't really played only usually picked up on the first one. Maybe RAAM would be a bit more hype if people really knew who he was and where he came from. lmao I'm pretty sure a lot of people who play KI never even knew who he is. Besides that, I don't know. Would've been nice to see more combat with the Kryll instead of the knife.
Question: How come at 3:10 Max is working in a nice combo then it looks like he's about to use a shadow move and it just stops with a weird sound-effect? (Sorry, I'm not a fighting-game guy in the slightest and I've never played K.I. I just watch Max's content.) Did Max just cancel the shadow move on purpose or was it interrupted or something?
What he did was an attempt or successful counter breaker. If the sound plays and nothing happends, then Max would've gotten punished for it. If it would of hit, Max would've gotten a free combo and the person would be locked out for a certain amount of time.

People keep telling me Shadow Jago ain't OP, but in every match I see him against Max it's either close or Max gets bodied.

KI1 = Basically Street Fighter 2 with insane combos. You could play like street fighter and do very well.
KI2 = KI1 with new and updated characters, better graphics, and meters that meant nothing.
K13 = Strips out the deeper "Street Fighter 2"-like play aspects, Fatalities, and actual Ultra Combos, for a very dial-a-combo format. Adds Lock outs and huge character effects in more recent characters. Turning into a game it did not actually start as.
KI3 needs to dial back some of these effects. 95% damage just by piling on more effects with little to no chance to retaliate is fun to watch (Raam is a Bulldozer and I LOVE it) but can't be fair in competition. It makes a fairly inept character, like Raam (the guy has the smallest toolbox of all the characters), much too dangerous for what they are. It is like Iron Galaxy didn't really do much work to really flesh Raam out so they made him as cheap as they could get away with. It is not the first time, they just massively over power characters, nearly to the point of breaking the game, only to have to dial them back and they end up being "last week's chopped liver".
More powerful is not better. Granted this is a relatively new company literally developing the game, the characters anyway, on the fly, however work on making the characters actually better without making them overpowered despite what they are.
Then add in previous version of characters. There are, for example, 3 versions of Fulgore and Sabrewolf, you could play if they added them in. It would be awesome to be able to use KI1 Fulgore's moveset which is considerably different from KI2 and both KI3 versions.
Also get rid of or reduce those lockouts. I think the counter breaker is awesome but it needs to be at least as difficult as the a regular combo breaker, maybe make it a "struggle" or "grapple lock".
Finally put back in more normal fighting game mechanics, not just the combo-centric system, so more normal characters, such as Fulgore Jago, Orchid, who have huge movesets and less big or internalized effects (like constant healing, accelerated charge up and so on) will have a fairer chance against these newer characters, especially if the area attack effects "Krill storm" for example as not nerfed.
Why did they make breaks knock down again?
They haven't changed. In S3 the air/juggle combos cause knockdowns, while grounded combos don't.

Max stop hitting buttons when you corner Shago. He's going to try to escape and it's all reactable, but if you hit a button he's just gonna whiff punish you.

max you have to let shago hang himself the majority of his attacks are unsafe and he is useless in a corner so if you get him in he has to grab or uppercut. but unfortunately raam falls to projectiles
