    Out of the 4 surplus guns I ordered from AIM they were all in better condition than the example posted on the website.‘I learned my Classic Firearms lesson cheap-I ordered some AK mags and they showed up absolutely covered in rust and filled with dirt. They weren’t cheap either-had to totally refinish the damn things. I’ve also had pretty good luck with JG Sales and Atlantic but I’ve only ordered two firearms from them.

    Classic is very generous with their interpretation of the NRA finish grades. I ordered a "very good" hi power from them recently and the bare minimum for that ranking is 60% intact finish. Well there isn't a corner on the gun that hasn't had the finish rubbed off (way more than just holster wear would do) and the backstrap is almost bare aluminum. Even the slide, which was parkerized then epoxy coated, is missing most of the epoxy paint and even has some parkerizing worn away (again much more than regular holster wear). Sweaty Ben is as much a shyster as they come.

    Don't forget when classic listed pm-63 pistols sold them, cancelled the orders and relisted them for $200 more than they originally had them listed. I also have been told that they are playing a significant part in the death of the surplus market. I have been told by a friend of mine who toured the classic firearms warehouse recently that while they will claim that mosins are out of stock they actually have thousands on the racks in a way of controlling the supply to the market and creating scarcity

    Man I've learned so much about Classic in the last couple of years, I'm so happy with my M39 cause I think I found a diamond in the rough. I had never heard of them before and it was marked down with a cracked stock so I took a chance and it's completely fine except for one small divot on the right side. But I've seen so many pictures of fossilized Tokarevs and what not that I will never deal with them again.

    I’ve purchased a few items from classic over the years.. I recognize I over paid for some, and that’s ok, to a degree.
    I lost faith in purchasing anymore from them based on a purchase of an enfield. I don’t recall all of the details of what I got, but I had paid for the “hand select” and I’m pretty confident it was the last one.. of one of the last few... and it was pretty much trash.. split stock, loose butt stock, etc.
    Mosin is great to deal with. Fair, honest, straight shooter.

    I bought my first surplus kar98k just recently. got the 8mm ammo from sgammo and it was packaged nice and in good shape. I saw they had a lot of surplus and even new manufacture seemed like they were priced decently, for these hard times. Happy i picked a good one first try and i recommended them to my friend who has more surplus firearms than me.

    Invaluable video! I recently bought my first rifle, a 91/30, and had no info for good places to get bullets. Wal-Mart doesn't carry much 7.62x54r. So many gun youtubers get free ammo that it's hard to find them talking about where you should buy it honestly.

    Ya brother me and my father got screwed by classic firearms they tried to double charge me for some YBO steel AK mags I ordered and my father got screwed when he ordered some psl mags from them online and they showed online were very good to excellent condition but when he got them they were rusted all to hell and the springs inside the mags were seized. Also I almost forgot to tell U they lied to me saying that my bank had my money when I call my bank and spoke to a banker he said that classic lied to me and they basically stole my money and were probably hoping I wouldn’t realize what had happened at the end of the day DONT do business with classic firearms

    I have bought 3 guns from Classic Firearms: a Browning Buck Mark that was on sale, a Bulgarian Makarov, and a Swiss 1911 with matching bayonet. I have been happy with my purchases except for the fact that they take a long time to ship and they charge an exorbitant amount for shipping & handling.
    But after the shenanigans started to unravel, I refuse to buy from them anymore. The list goes on: plagiarizing photos, cancelling pending orders and relisting items at a higher price, paying off TH-camrs to shill, fake giveaways, listing like 20 options to squeeze out as much money as they can, overpricing and overhyping surplus, etc.

    Agreed all good sources online. Though nothing beats the hunt locally checking out weapons in person and haggling for a deal. Classic cracks me up with their special or more collectible up pricing on weapons for reasons that don't add value or collectibility. People just need to buy a book and not buy into the hype.

    Classic burned me too, they sent me a non functional rifle, made me take it to a gunsmith to be sure before they would take it back. I had to pay 2 ffl fees and 3 shipping cost. When I purchased they were selling VG grade rifles and paid +20 for hand picked, the replacement order was for Good grade and was not the condition I paid for, as for hand picked, sure they must have picked it up by hand but that's about it. For the total money I paid I could have bought one in excellent condition. I still buy from them but I don't waste my money on hand picked.

    I have dealt with everybody in your list other than Empire Arms, but I have drooled over their listings in the past. One of my first surplus/trade-in guns was a Hi-Power from Aim. All I have gotten from Alden is a Jericho 941F, but almost every video nearly convinces me to somehow try to order something the next morning while at work.
    Any thoughts on J&GSales and KingsFirearmsOnline? They've got some fantastic prices sometimes. I can't say I have seen police trade-ins cheaper than Kings very often, and they seem to have a steady stream of the stuff at all times. They even have cheap trade-in optics often, and have Streamlight TLR-1 HL's for under $50 each still I think (I bought 3).

  • @XtremeConditions

    I totally agree about Cheaper Than Dirt. Their whole bullshit shipping scheme kind of annoys me too (do they still do that?).. I get that it can be good, but it was just an annoying way to shop and after about 5 different orders I had made, I called it quits with them. Further, they're "quite a bit more expensive than dirt" if you ask me.

    Personally I’ve gotten f’d over enough that I’m close to giving up on buying surplus from vendors. I bought my first rifle as a 91/30, 1941 production okay cool thing looks like it’s been through Kursk I dig it. Tear the rifle apart and there’s probably a good 1/16-1/8th of material taken out by pitting about halfway down the barrel, first rifle I bought I still haven’t shot it because I’m afraid it’ll Elmer Fudd on me. 2nd was a CZ82 that once again, had a rust hole, this time it went all the way through the barrel. Only one I’ve had success with is a makarov. Thinking about getting an m48 to throw a leupold 4x with German #1 reticle on it because screw getting a real k98 and doing that, but I’m afraid of another flop

    I just subbed to your channel after watching a few of your videos. I am a long time gun enthusiast/hunter/veteran with a decent collection of mostly newer firearms, however I've started to really get interested in the surplus stuff and I'm leaning towards an SKS for my first purchase. Any thoughts on Palmetto State Armory for this? They have them available currently and I have dealt with them recently with a purchase of their 10.5" KS-47 "pistol". Shipping took nearly 2 weeks but it was just before Christmas so I can't be too upset about that. Overall very happy with their products so far. Or is there a better place to look for an SKS?
    Side note: I could have bought one in very nice condition from a buddy of mine 10 years ago for $150 but at that time I just wasn't really interested. Now I'm kicking myself. It was a Soviet model as well. Now all you can find are the Chinese ones... 😒

      My honest advice would be unless you have deep pockets, maybe grab one or two surplus guns and have that be it. IT's turned in to what classic cars are: A collector's market that prices the average Joe out of the hobby and it's not nearly as fun.

  • @92FairladyZ
    @92FairladyZ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Moral of the story is support the local and small businesses. I refuse to buy from Classic. Their recent inventory only further proves the point that they don't know how to grade and price accordingly and don't care to hire better help to get things straight. I bet this is why IV8888 doesn't do anything with them anymore because I don't recall anything about them since right after they got all the M39s in. From what I have been hearing it's not like you're paying the price for a premium product but paying a premium and getting something that I could find for way less elsewhere. I don't buy my guns online. I always buy from a local dealer and I have always been treated fairly. Sure I bought a couple things from a big box store because they priced some milsurp handguns pretty low for the condition and the fact that it came with the original holster but 95% comes from local shops.

    • @MikeB128
      @MikeB128  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I get that, but I've also had really good luck buying from reputable companies online. Classic is just an example of a company who doesn't care about anything except money, therefore your likelihood of being disappointed is much higher.

    Completely agreed with Classic Firearms. Completely shitty company with completely shitty practices. The worst of their new tactics is their bs auctions selling standard milsurp for sky high prices. Someone last year won a Walther P1 with lots of wear and import marks or $800+ bucks. I've gotten a very ratty M57 from them ( imgur.com/a/RmMZA) even though it was rated as being in very good condition. Just a really shady greasy company. Everyone that knows an ounce about milsurp should know to steer clear away from Classic. Last time I'll make that mistake to try them despite the negative feedback.

      @@MikeB128 I've bought a few things from them and ammoempire, their "sister" company. The problem is that during the pandemic they pulled cheaper than dirt type shenanigans. They had no problem jacking prices up to astronomical levels and playing the classic firearms game of "in and out of stock" items that they have promoting artificial scarcity.
      Outside of milsurp ammo, they usually didn't have the best prices on common calibers.
