    This needs to be a lower price to really be an option over the M1 pro models. You can get an Macbook Pro m1 14" 512gb for $1750 now, and yet the 512gb (but otherwise lesser specced) Macbook Air is coming in at $1500. The CPU is better, but you can't really utilize it because of the cooling. Might as well get the 14" pro at that point. Now, if the 512gb air was $1200, that would be a killer alternative.

More useful and practical info instead of type of marketing info about form and hardware. Thank you for this. I’ll be very disappointed if Apple made the decision to strangle the M2 MBA. I’m waiting to see the comparisons between the M1 MBA and the M2 MBA base models. If it turns out the single NAND chip is used and it reduces the performance I’ll not be buying one.

    Yesterday, I checked this new Air model against both Air M1 and Pro 14"..... Right of the bat, few things are obvious. An excellent keyboard, better than Air M1 and just as good as Pro 14". Ssurprisingly, you can tell it's lighter than Air M1. The screen also gives impression to be bigger and crispier than Air M1 and yet it's definitely no match for Pro M1 screen as the latter has markedly more real estate and is both crispier and with much better contrast and color reproduction. For anybody curious, it's engough to compare a few photos from Apple's picture gallery to instantly reveal the superiority of the Pro's screen.
    You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that the new Macbook Air in basic configuration of
    8 GB RAM and 25GB SSD is a perfect portable typewriter that might even double as a good streaming machine when you're out and roaming. Upgrading to 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD however is a questionable choice as the price difference to similarly equipped 14" Pro machine is negligible while performance will lagg due to absence of forced cooling.

(this gave me a discount through education store and made it a much larger price difference) also with any new macbook u need a dongle so 🤷‍♂️ just my reasoning with my purchase and some may not apply to you. either way i’m sure you’ll be very happy with whatever u go for :)

    the only thing I don't get is that if the M2 chip is better why didn't Apple wait on the 14"/16" models and release them after the MacBook Air M2 surely that would have been a smarter launch process as then consumers would be able to have an M2 MacBook 14" rather than now longing for the latest model and splashing out tons of cash for a faster processor

    I'm so disappointed with Apple. I was getting my hands on the 256/8gb configuration but I didn't buy it. I'm going to wait for the reviews first. I want to know how slow it gets under moderate workload
    (8 to 10 Chrome tabs open with a few PDF books, stored on the laptop, open and Word, Excel and PowerPoint open or
    8 to 10 chrome tabs open, with Netflix and TH-cam open).
    I know it's not going to be as good as the M1 MacBook Air but I'm in love with M2 Macbook Air's looks.

      I feel like it’s getting lost on a lot of people that the base model is still very usable. If it wasn’t, they wouldn’t sell it. It will be able to handle any light workloads. I think this SSD decision drives home that apple doesn’t believe that pros are using this price point which kinda sucks

    • @nasdoc1
      @nasdoc1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maximsergeev8153 It's read and write speeds are slower than the iPad air M1. None the less, for most people out there, they won't feel a thing. And the real pros won't use the Air anyways. It's not about that. It's about Apple being transparent about it. Apple can charge whatever they want for their products and people willing still buy it. Other companies have a different chip for the same model at a lower price range. No one complains about that because they are open about their specs. The customer knows exactly what he's buying.

    • @brysongrayy
      @brysongrayy ปีที่แล้ว

      @Hollows well not exactly. With apples unified memory, 8gb is perfectly fine for most people. You won’t even max out your memory on a lot of loads because of swap. Past a certain amount of your memory, it would prefer to use swap. So it is very much storage
