  • When Fiesta Mall opened on October 8, 1979, it quickly became one of the most popular spots to shop in Mesa, Arizona, and surrounding cities. However, after years of decline and crime, the mall closed for good in 2018.
On July 17, 2023, developers started demolition of the mall to begin construction on a new mixed residential and retail concept.

    Watching this video in 2024..
2004 now is 20 years ago. Sad how the mall went downhill, but when I visited one time in 2003, it was still quite busy.

I was born in 1990 and grew up in Chandler when that city didn't have a mall so Fiesta Mall was my family's go to place to shop and just hang around enjoying the sights. The whole fiesta district was amazing untill the late 2000s when all the stores around the mall started closing. I remember there were 2 movie theaters close by one behind the mall and another across the street next to where Tower Records used to be. I also believe there was a huge Toys R Us and another store (Wards i believe) that was located where the Target is now on Longmore Street. Damn I'm going down memory lane now, those were some good times. Hate seeing it all gone now.

Sad to see the mall was completely demolished recently and is now a pile of dirt in an empty lot. I live in LA but would visit Mesa every summer growing up in the 2000s-2010s to visit my grandparents. I remember playing in that desert themed playground and getting my first Pokémon game at the game stop. That mall would always be so nostalgic to me Rest in Piece

I just don't understand why the malls have fallen out of favor with shoppers. I hate these outdoor strip malls, we have them here in Kissimmee fl you walk outside in this dreadful heat and humidity. Shop at Home Goods then walk across a steaming hot parking lot to Michaels, its horrible . I only shop at the Large malls here the Florida Mall in Orlando, and the Mall at Millenia, they are air conditioned and they are self contained so they have everything you need, I will miss the Fiesta Mall last time I was in Mesa was 1993. Winrock Mall in Albuquerque used to be such a nice mall, I have very vivid memories of it first an open air mall and then enclosed. All the wonderful stores and Walgreens had a cafe inside. Used to have their Hawaiin Days sales and I bought my first Stereo from JC Penny. I bought it with my JC Penny Young shoppers card it was co signed by my Parents but at 16 it was a first for me.That would have been about 1973.I miss all the old stores from my childhood, most recently was K-Mart. Gulfmart, Bellas Hess, Ames, Goldwaters, Rhodes, TG&Y, Sprouse Reitz, Duckwalls, Piggly Wiggly, Ben Franklin, Woolworths, Woolco, Zayres, so many I have forgotten.

Perhaps because you have to walk a mile inside the mall to get what you want.

Online shopping is what killed the malls. People have gotten lazy over the course of the years.

I went every Friday night with my parents after eating at Sizzler's. This was back around '90-'91 when Fiesta Village was still a busy place, and seeing the footage from '97 brings back great memories.

My family owned the Papa Jays Pizza for over 15 years. We were there every day as kids, I literally grew up there. I’m trying to reach out to somebody to allow us to go view the food court one last time before they demolish that section.

If your family has any photos taken at the mall over those 15 years, would love to see them posted somewhere. There doesn't seem to be hardly any historical record of the mall, when i search online.

I lived within walking distance of the mall for years. Sometimes I would go there every day. It's sad to see it go. I probably ate at your family owned pizza place many times.

@@sandyzalecki1145 that’s so cool. We actually had another place in there called Jay’s Philly cheesesteaks as well. It was where the Chick-fil-A ended up. We eventually sold that, and then sold the pizza place to Sbarro’s. We had six other locations. I miss those days.

What was the name of that store at 2:46 at the top right hand corner? It was a record store, right? Was it Sam Goody? And the store to the left sold sports apparel? Champs or Championship was the name or something like that??
