Thank y’all so much for posting my wife’s sweet potato cobbler! I’m so very proud of her! She’s amazing. She and I watch y’all’s show together all the time! Thank you again from the Padgett family! Have a blessed evening!
I already have pie crust written on my list to get at the store tomorrow! This recipe out of the rest stood out to me and look forward to trying it out!
I am gluten free so I either need to make my own pie crust -or- thinking making a crumb coat. G-F flour, brown suga, butta, pinch of salt - something like that! Thanks for a delectable recipe!
To keep the egg from cooking, it must be tempered. To temper the egg, stir the egg with a small amount of the hot mixture and pour slowly into the rest of the hot mixture stirring constantly. This will keep the egg from "scrambling".
Um... the sweet potato dish..I mean really girl friend. I got a toothache looking at all that sugar on those potatoes. I believe it's a sweet dessert. P.S. I just how you all talk together while filming...so down to earth people. Have a most wonderful Thanksgiving 🦃🍂
Thank you so much for this wonderful knowledge because I’m going to make it tomorrow and I’m sure I would have messed that up! What about the waffle pieces? Is it just a cone cut up?
Bunkey was totally right about how to weave the pie crust. 😂 You have to start with the strips on the outside, and then you lay a strip down, and put every other strip over the top from the outside. Then lay a strip down, and lay the OTHER strips over the top. And then repeat.
You have to temper the egg. You do this by whisking your egg and add just a little of the mixture to the egg. You are bringing up the temp of the egg to the mixture and then add the egg mixture to the heated mixture.
You guys make everything look scrumptious. I need to try that sweet pot pie recipe! Looks incredible. Thank you. I love how descriptive you both are. Happy Thanksgiving 🍁
Oh my goodness I am totally making the sweet potato dish to take to moms on Thursday!!!! Thank you to Miss Mandy mam for sending this recipe to the Bunks 😂❤❤❤❤ 🥧 😋
I don't want to break anyone's heart. But my Grandma made Banana Pudding with sour cream, whipped topping and everything. Exactly the same, but she put vanilla wafers instead of Lady Fingers. So two great Women , created a amazing Banana Pudding.
This may sound crazy, but i make my banana pudding with nutter butter cookies in place of vanilla wafers. I pull them apart so they arent so thick, but the peanut butter and banana is soooo good!
Love these recipes …I’ve been making my banana pudding that way for over 30 years…but I’m a South Carolina Grandmommy 🥰 Growing up in a Southern Baptist Church not only teaches you how to walk with Jesus- most of us can sure cook delicious meals as well…Happy Thanksgiving y’all 🦃
My sons father and I have known each other for 43 years and I know one of his favorite things growing up was banana pudding. I have never made it for him in all that time because I am not overly fond of bananas. His mother died not too long ago so I invited him to Thanksgiving with our son. I am definitely going to try this recipe for him as a surprise. I am sure he will appreciate it and knowing that I got the recipe. Please keep me in your prayers as I am recovering from cancer surgery. I hope the Bunkeys and your family have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving.
Use chessmen cookies and warm and add the pudding to 8 oz room temperature cream cheese and mix and fold 8 oz. Of Cool whip. Into that. Meijer the bottom of your casserole dish with chessmen cookies thin layer some of the mixture on top of the cookies no baking and involved and it is to die for. Vikki Thompson
The candied yam pie....That's an insane amount of sugar and butter! I'd use 1 cup brown sugar and 1 stick butter and I bet it would still be amazing 😍 I always use banana pudding in mine but I'd love to try the lady fingers 😋
For Thanksgiving, I made a brown butter sweet potato pie but I replace the white sugar for brown sugar and I top it with mini marshmallows and put it under the broiler until they are light brown for a toasted marshmallow flavor. My husband was SO reluctant to try it but once he did, he fell in love, requested it for Christmas AND ate all of the leftovers by himself!!
Mandy girl you made me cry when reading that banana pudding ladies story. I had scarlet fever at age 5 but thankfully I pulled through it but I’ll never forget how horrible it was. But the up side of it being age 5 was I GOT OUT OF SCHOOL FOR TWO WEEKS!!!! 😂❤
That story about the vanilla pudding, it seriously brought me to tears. My nana would make it for Sunday night desert and my mom would make it for Sunday night desert but she knows how much I love it so on special times she would make it just for me, she'd never say it was but she would invite me over for dinner and then I'd see it and then she'd look at me and smile 😊😢
What you want to do with the egg is called "tempering" Take some of the hot liquid and mix the egg and sugar together in a separate bowl and THEN mix it back into the hot liquid. That keeps the egg from cooking.
I made my family banana pudding recipe for my husband early in our marriage and naturally used vanilla wafers. Delicious. His response, "But my mom always made a graham cracker crust". Ugh. So you now know how I make banana pudding for my husband.
My grandma was the queen of sweet potatoes and she used to use butter and brown sugar, for she would boil the whole sweet potato until they were just barely forktender peel them and then put butter and brown sugar and then do another layer, butter and brown sugar she would cut them into those little medallions like you did also and layer them with butter and brown sugar and my husband is Mexican and they do the same thing with butter and brown sugar but using pumpkins is a good way to use up your pumpkins from Halloween
My husband and I have been married 33 years as of the day after Thanksgiving. Every year I make a pumpkin pie and a anniversary cake. My husband didn't get any of his grooms cake. And I made pies and a almond raspberry cake for our wedding. So every year I make a cake decorated like the top tier of a wedding cake. My pumpkin pie is super easy. Carolyn's pumpkin pie: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix 1 can pumpkin puree 1 can sweetened condensed milk 1 tsp vanilla 1 egg 1 pinch of salt 2 Tblsp pumpkin pie spice 1 graham cracker crust Place graham cracker crust on baking sheet. Pour mixture into crust. Bake 45 mins or until set with slightly giggly center. Turn oven off and open door slightly. Allow to cool. Then refrigerate.
To give you all a good laugh - - - In Texas we always laugh about the way y’all pronounce “Pecan”. A “pee can” is something our great grannies put under the bed for a necessary need during the night. ☺️ Love y’all❣️ ** Is it pronounced peecan or pecan? We can all rest assured that there is no one proper pronunciation for the word pecan; though, the most accepted is "pi-KAHN." The word pecan originated from the Algonquin term pacane and the iteration we are most familiar with was used in the mid-1700s
Thank you! My parents were from southern Indiana and they said piKAHN - and so do I - because at my grandparents in Indiana we used the pee can at night! But my husband and his family members from South Georgia pronounce it PEE can. And that triggers my visual image 🤦♀️😂
Y’all! We make this EXACT same recipe and yes the sour cream is the secret Ingredient…. BUT we use golden Oreos instead of wafers and let me tell you….. I NEVER have ANY LEFT! When I take it to work it’s GONE in five mins!
My banana pudding is almost identical to this using vanilla wafers and no vanilla paste. People have always raved about it. It is my most favorite banana pudding of all. 😋 Great stories and great recipes as well!
We are having Pecan Pie bread pudding, Louisiana syrup cake or better known as Crack cake and pumpkin pie! We have whipped topping and vanilla ice cream to those who want it on their favorite dessert.
That pecan pie dip looks great! But y'all scrambled the egg 😂 you need to temper the egg before adding it to the entire pan. I'll be trying this for Christmas!
I sometimes change up my banana pudding by using Nutter Butter cookies or Pecan Sandies. Both are delicious but I'm a peanut butter girl so I like the Nutter Butters slightly better.
When you get to the part where you add the egg, scramble the egg in a bowl and put some of your caramel mixture in with the egg and stir it constantly you get it mixed then add it back into the rest of your caramel mix that is called tempering and you won’t have scrambled eggs
I make a similar version of the sweet potatoes that my friend from Norway use to make. Scrub the potatoes and slice them (don't peel) a bit thinner. Lay them out like you did. The measurements will vary depending on how many sweet potatoes but mix 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, cinnamon, ground cloves, ginger and nutmeg and sprinkle over top. Add fresh squeezed orange with some zest (or Orange extract if you don't have an orange) and also vanilla. Take 1 stick of cold butter and cut it into tablespoons and dot it on top. Bake in a pre-heated 375 oven. When the butter has melted, use a spatula to stir/flip over the potatoes so everyone gets some coverage. Bake until the potatoes are tender and flappy. Remove and cool. These are so good and easy.
To temper the egg is the ticket when you're making candy or sweets or what have you what you do is slowly whisk you with the eggs and you slowly whisk in a little bit of the hot ingredients at a time while whisking the egg at the same time just a tiny bit and then you get it to the same temperature and then you add the egg to the pan since it's the same temperature
Oh my stars! These recipes!! And vanilla bean paste!?!! I am on the hunt! I love watching both of y’all’s channels!! You are just too cute. ( let me clarify- this channel and Chasing Sunsets ). I will have to check out your friend’s channel too!
Jess!!!! You got the tears going girl!!! I love a good cry brought on by the sweetest story ❤thank you for sharing this special recipe. Mr. B!!!! Look at those sweet tater cuts without your infamous mandolin! 😂 besides that the look on both of your faces when you tasted the sweet potato’s. I mean how could somebody not want to try this after watching your reactions? Now that pecan illegally oh my goodness… Goodness! Yes ma’am. Yes sir definitely gonna pull this one out for this Thanksgiving. The other two I’m going to save for Christmas. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you for doing this again, and thank you, thank you… Thank you! For all of you, who took the time to share your stories, and share your recipes with all of us. I feel so blessed and so lucky! Happy Thanksgiving, everybody. Bunkys! Please know that the two of you are so loved by this entire community. I wish you the happiest of thanksgivings! God bless you both.
I’m new to you guys but I really enjoy watching your videos! Due to me breaking my wrist really bad this year I can’t cook right now but I can’t wait until next year to try some of these recipes! I have a folder dedicated to your videos full of saved videos I’ve been binge watching! I also love seeing your home decor! Happy Thanksgiving
If you make the pecan dip again mix egg sugar and karo in a bowl mix well then put in pan with the butter then pecans.that way your eggs don't scramble.good job ❤
I want to try the sweet potato cobbler. I don't really care for the traditional sweet potato casserole with the marshmallows, so this one may be great. Thank you!
I don’t know if you live near a Kroger. But if you’re looking for ladyfingers you can look down the cookie and cake section other than that they are going to be located in the bakery near the deli!
I cannot eat any of this( Im Keto) but I can SURELY bring it to my womens church group when we have our Christmas party Im in Raleigh NC and they all just would LOVE this and my neighborhood Christmas party as well....!!!!! Thank you and you should do more of these for a bit of a spin on your already very successful youtube channel!! HAPPY JOYUS AND BLESSED THANKSGIVING !!!
Hey there Bunkeys, first thing is know is, when adding eggs to a hot liquid, you first need to spoon out some of the hot liquid, stir a bit to cool and then add your eggs and whisk a bit. Then pour the egg mixture slowly back into the hot mixture . It’s called tempering, so the egg doesn’t cook. The lady finger’s are very hard to find. They were big in the 40’s and 50’s. They are like a shortbread cookie. Happy thanksgiving to you and yours 💕🙏🙏
That is an interesting take on the sweet potato casserole. I also grew up in sc. Near summerville. We always did ours mashed with the brown sugar and butter. But we also did the nuts abd marshmallows 😋 mmmmm so good. May have to try it with the pie crust
Pecan Pie is a “sugar pie” and custard like. Perhaps that’s why it had an egg in it. You “tempered” it and handled beautifully! You can find vanilla bean paste at cooking stores or online like Williams Sonoma and Sur la Table.
Thank y’all so much for posting my wife’s sweet potato cobbler! I’m so very proud of her! She’s amazing. She and I watch y’all’s show together all the time! Thank you again from the Padgett family! Have a blessed evening!
Awe.. that’s so cool your recipe made it to the big screen. Must be good then. Have a nice Turkey 🦃 day!!
I already have pie crust written on my list to get at the store tomorrow! This recipe out of the rest stood out to me and look forward to trying it out!
That looks so delicious! I will have to try it! Thanks for sharing!💗
I can’t wait to try it!
I am gluten free so I either need to make my own pie crust -or- thinking making a crumb coat. G-F flour, brown suga, butta, pinch of salt - something like that! Thanks for a delectable recipe!

I came here to say the same thing.
Ditto
Yes, whenever adding egg to a hot dish, always temper the egg.

I’m diabetic but that sweet potato casserole looks so good it may be worth a coma 😂😊
Same 😂😂
did the little boys get a bowl of pudding? 🤣😉
Omgoodness I laugh right out loud when Bucky said " let me help you out sister." You two are hilarious ❤
A weave in pastry is an under over every other strip. Like a basket weave.
You have to temper the egg. You do this by whisking your egg and add just a little of the mixture to the egg. You are bringing up the temp of the egg to the mixture and then add the egg mixture to the heated mixture.
I can listen to you both all day! You are so entertaining and give us such great recipes! Happy Thanksgiving!
Hahaha thank you!! Happy Thanksgiving!!
We call that a sweet potato cobbler
I'm not even 5 minutes in and I'm drooling. Lol. Everything you and Bunkey cook looks and sounds so delicious. 🤤😋
Hi Alma, wishing you and Tony a Happy Thanksgiving. From your Colo. friend.🦃
@debbiekocol8731 hi Debbie. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family from the Trumble's in Southwest Tennessee.
You guys make everything look scrumptious. I need to try that sweet pot pie recipe! Looks incredible. Thank you. I love how descriptive you both are. Happy Thanksgiving 🍁
Looks delicious! Why didn't you dish up a bowl for the kids?
Oh my goodness I am totally making the sweet potato dish to take to moms on Thursday!!!! Thank you to Miss Mandy mam for sending this recipe to the Bunks 😂❤❤❤❤ 🥧 😋

The Chessman cookies are AMAZING to make with banana pudding!!!!
Just like Paula Deen.
Yes!! This is so good to do! They don’t get soggy. And they taste better than the nilla wafers, I think.
My sons father and I have known each other for 43 years and I know one of his favorite things growing up was banana pudding. Prayers for you! I hope you all have a very happy Thanksgiving!
I pray for you to heal fast & your Thanksgiving is blessed! ❤
That sweet potato casserole would be amazing with some pecans!!
You can get vanilla bean paste at Hobby Lobby in the baking aisle.
Mr Bundy has the right weaving technique that is how to do it listen to him.
The candied yam pie....That's an insane amount of sugar and butter! I'd use 1 cup brown sugar and 1 stick butter and I bet it would still be amazing 😍 I always use banana pudding in mine but I'd love to try the lady fingers 😋

The recipe for the sweet potato thing needs thatvtobturn into an apple pie thing. With sliced apples. Yummy
That sweet potato dish…..definitely dessert! Just a PIE😮! Yum
It's super easy to weave the pie crust strips first on a cutting board, then gently flip it over on top of the baking dish. :D
That would be my suggestion or lay it out and weave on parchment and turn it over on the dish.
Lady fingers can usually be found at the deli.😊
Just made the sweet potato pie or cobbler or side dish whatever you call it we love it
The way bunky said was right for weaving the crust lol. And I also think that sweet potato casserole is dessert.
Lol I really should listen to him more!
@@jessicaodonohue nah. Where’s the fun in that lol.

I love watching you two!!! What happened was lol
Yay!!! You did the recipe I submitted ❤❤❤❤ I was so excited to see it on the video!
Oooo I bet adding chopped pecans would take it to the next level and add more texture!!!
Y’all! We make this EXACT same recipe and yes the sour cream is the secret Ingredient…. BUT we use golden Oreos instead of wafers and let me tell you….. I NEVER have ANY LEFT! When I take it to work it’s GONE in five mins!
Hi Bunkey's I'm going to try the sweet potatoes with brown sugar instead. Thanks for the receipe. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
I was thinking about brown sugar as well. That would make it next level delicious!
My banana pudding is almost identical to this using vanilla wafers and no vanilla paste. People have always raved about it. It is my most favorite banana pudding of all. 😋 Great stories and great recipes as well!
Bunky was right on the weaving lol
Dessert or side dish?? YES, please!! LOL!
If you have a Fresh Market they usually always have vanilla bean paste.
It always starts with “What happened was…” 😂 Love you guys! Can’t wait to try these recipes!
A weave is over and under. I do that on apple pies all the time, the same way as my grandmother did.
Ooooooo that pecan recipe with the waffle cones!!!!! 😍😋
Your sweet potato pie rustic weave, once baked looked perfect
Sweet potato cobbler! Yum!

I had a hard time finding lady fingers in my town and then I realized world market has them!
When putting egg into a hot mixture take some of the hot liquid into. the egg and temper it then add it to your mixture
Thank you for this tip!
Honey! If y’all make it… I know it’s good , and I will make it ♥️♥️♥️♥️
You should get shredded coconut and put that on top with the grounded wafers
So fun to be designated taste testers!!!! Such a fun night and awesome recipes!!!
I'm jealous.
I make a similar version of the sweet potatoes that my friend from Norway use to make. Scrub the potatoes and slice them (don't peel) a bit thinner. Lay them out like you did. Congrats on your first pie weave! It looks great
Wow amazing 😮 👏 thanks for sharing 😊you are so beautiful and cute ❤🎉

I love watching you guys. You are my favorite recipe TH-camr’s! You guys are so good together! And your recipes are amazing! Keep them coming…😋
Thank you for telling us about the green GRINCH Creamer! ❤ We love it! We found out they had a ton of them at Aldi today so we stocked up big time! 😅
Awesome recipes, thanks,I like the addition you made ❤️👍❤️👍❤️
Everything looks amazing ‼️🍁🦃🍂🍽❤️❤️
I feel like I’m a nanner pudding connoisseur. That looks amazing! I can’t wait to try it!!

I have a folder dedicated to your videos full of saved videos I’ve been binge watching! I also love seeing your home decor! Happy Thanksgiving
Praying your wrist heals quickly🙏😇.
Weird place to find them maybe but if you have a liquor barn that’s where I found lady fingers when I made tiramisu
TJMaxx/Home Goods also carries Vanilla Bean Paste. That’s where I purchase mine.
Oh my goodness the sweet potato thingy looks like an apple pie.
Thank you!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU BOTH. HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY & GOD BLESS YOU BOTH VERY MUCH . (TAMMY FROM CALIFORNIA)
A few weekends ago I had banana pudding made with Lorna doone cookies, so yummy
I cannot eat any of this( Im Keto) but I can SURELY bring it to my womens church group when we have our Christmas party Im in Raleigh NC and they all just would LOVE this and my neighborhood Christmas party as well....!!!!! Oh, my gosh, you guys! Oh, my gosh! ❤❤❤
I hope y'all shared with the children ....
Whoa - these all look divine!
Pray you and Bunky have a wonderful Thanksgiving 🦃🦃🦃😊😊😊
Italian stores carry lady fingers..😊
Hey there Bunkeys, first thing is know is, when adding eggs to a hot liquid, you first need to spoon out some of the hot liquid, stir a bit to cool and then add your eggs and whisk a bit. Then pour the egg mixture slowly back into the hot mixture . It’s called tempering, so the egg doesn’t cook. The lady finger’s are very hard to find. They were big in the 40’s and 50’s. They are like a shortbread cookie. Happy thanksgiving to you and yours 💕🙏🙏
This us similar to what we call preacher pie pudding.
Delish
Happy Thanksgiving!!! Hope you have a great time with your family!!
That is an interesting take on the sweet potato casserole. I also grew up in sc. Near summerville. We always did ours mashed with the brown sugar and butter. But we also did the nuts abd marshmallows 😋 mmmmm so good. May have to try it with the pie crust
Happy Thanksgiving to the Bunkeys…
Happy Thanksgiving ❤
Pecan Pie is a “sugar pie” and custard like. Perhaps that’s why it had an egg in it. You “tempered” it and handled beautifully! You can find vanilla bean paste at cooking stores or online like Williams Sonoma and Sur la Table.
It kind of looks like peach or Apple pie!! If used for dessert try sprinkling sugar after you do the butter on the crust!!
Lots of goodies ! Thank you for sharing these! Happy Thanksgiving too you and your families!
