    Great thoughts, and advice, as always. It's so hard to find photography instruction online that is so deeply rooted in logic, reasoning, and historical vocabulary, especially in a world dominated by instagram and photography trends. Really appreciate your videos and your book!

    I continue to to keep the same opinion. The best instructor out there and I have seen MANY including all of Mike Kelly's courses. Nobody explains to the tea like Steven.

    Great info as usual about a problem I often face in my work. I also wanted to thank you for the suggestion about the Abercrombie/Whiton interior design book in the previous video. I picked it up and it's excellent.

      Stan Abercrombie was a brilliant designer and editor. I'm glad you are enjoying his book.

    Steven, thank you for another video lecture.
    I had found a nice copy of your Miami Beach Deco book at the end of the last year, I am enjoying it a lot, a very nice little gem of a photo book.

      Thanks for your note and for picking up a copy of MBD. The Beach is so much different even from when that book was photographed.

    Thanks for sharing. Always something to learn in your teachings.
    Another source of inspiration for me is Stanley Kubrick’s film, Barry Lyndon. The entire production is a constant flow of masterfully lit, well conceived compositions. Almost all of his scenes were lit strictly with either natural light or candle light. In my opinion, it is the most underrated film of all time.

    • @stevenbrookephotography
      @stevenbrookephotography  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That was, indeed, a glorious, masterpiece of film. The public at large apparently had trouble dealing with the 19th-century novel-like pace of the film, and it wasn't nearly as popular or critically acclaimed as it should have been. And Marissa Berenson could not have been more perfectly cast.

    Two things: Thank you for your great informative videos and your books. I've learned much.
    And I have a new word: Halation! I can hear my father asking me, "What the Halation are these D's and F's on this report card?!"
    And secondly, the term Pre - Visualization is redundant. What is Visualization but something your MINDS EYE conjures ahead of time.
    So saying PRE-visualization is like saying it twice.
    Thanks.

    • @stevenbrookephotography
      @stevenbrookephotography  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not to be overly didactic, the term previsualization, as I use it, is the visualizing of scenes before taking the exposures.The term previsualization has been attributed to the photographer Minor White, who divided visualization into previsualization, what occurs while studying the subject, and postvisualization, how the visualized image is actually rendered.

    • @paulolden4337
      @paulolden4337 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @stevenbrookephotography What you explained is your method is the very definition of Visualization. The prefix: Pre is redundant.
      And his Post Visualization method simply doesn't make sense.
      English as a language is full of mystery and contradiction and our debate is another example of such.

    Steven I thought of your streetscape in Rome for this. So to your point on that one slide, is shooting towards the sun basically an early morning/late afternoon thing? I have a large collection of blown out photos.

      Hopefully, with improved software developments happening daily, it seems, you may be able to save some of those photographs. Hope the current work is going well.
