At whatever age a kid is able to handle bare minimum responsibilities on their own without being told.. (house chores, waking up for school, good grades, attends all mandatory functions /events in a timely fashion, etc). I think the respect level from adult to child changes once that is established and the child can hold themselves accountable. And how fast that happens in terms of age, will depend on the parent / child relationship and what standards they hold their child too, as well as how their child responds to those standards.. (every child is different)
