    Hey! Could you please include a few seconds of the watch actually on wrist in future videos. Even if someone has a wildly different wrist size than me, still helps me to visualize the watch better. Keep up the good work!

  •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    To me this watch makes sense on that kind of a strap, a fancy deployant on such a stealthy watch would look out of place

    What you need to realise is that this watch was made with the parachute regiment in mind, as a member of said regiment i can say they have nailed it. The hidden crown was designed as a way to stop it becoming snagged on rigging lines when doing a parachute descent which is a nice little touch, unrealistic in a crown becoming snagged but it shows a dedication to details. The weight and carbon fibre is a homage to the set weight we can jump with. The backing with the parachute regiment cap badge on display is a lovely touch because every para loves having their beloved cap badge on everything they own may it be tshirt, car, tie etc. we are a proud bunch of men who love the regiment we joined and if you aren’t a member of the regiment you’ll fail to know this but we resent anyone who hasn’t earned the cap badge wearing it. Many men have broken their bodies for the right to wear the prestigious emblem on their body so we like to claim it as ours. The watch is on sale for the general public which we cant stop, however we would like any wearer of this watch to know the significance of the badge they have on their watch so saying you would pry it off is an insult to every serving member of Britain’s elite fighting force in the conventional army. If it was up to me i would only have this watch on sale for serving or veterans of the parachute regiment because they are the only ones who really know what it means to wear that cap badge on anything they own. I mean no disrespect to you but this is a very special watch for the emblem it has on it

      @heinerjurgens5362 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Does not make sense to me. With that logic no one ist allowed to wear football jerseys with the emblem of the club. You can be proud that people admire you so much that they pay a hefty amount of money just to assiociate with youre branch.
      Nonetheless no one can see the emblem.

    • @Stuvahstu

      @@heinerjurgens5362i get where you’re coming from with your mindset however the paras aren’t as simple as a football team. In Britain it isn’t the done thing to wear a regiments logo without being in said regiment or at the very least having a close family member in it. These cap badges are earned, you wouldn’t walk down the street in a regimental t-shirt that you never served in so a watch isn’t much different in my opinion

    A question Nick, knowing the the crown comes out not by screw down, but via pressing and it springs out. Have you tried to see whether the crown comes out very easily or is prone to accidental ejection?
    I am keen on getting it but just concerned that the crown might just pop out easily during outdoor or tougher use. :)

    I'd rather have a watch made out of carbon fiber then ceramic because ceramic has it own set of problems and that is DON'T DROP IT carbon fiber can take more of a licking as it were although I much more prefer stainless steel and would recommend it overall agreed they are covering up one of the most beautiful features of the watch should have made the back see through it is kind of stupid that they made it partly transparent

  • @tkindschi
    @tkindschi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Not that I have any right to make fashion design proclamations....But I don't think CF works visually as a primary material for ANYTHING. Even on pocket knives, it seems to look best as an inlay, or accent. A full CF knife just doesn't look good to me.
    So, for the watch. No. It just doesn't work.

      I would agree with you on the knife inlays. I have a carbon gshock for everyday. I prefer the lympstone, it has a metal case. But this is sexy af. I want someone to make shred carbon fiber glasses, unfortunately I'm half blind. But if it's cosmetic I'm like more carbon!

    How do you get loans?? Just cos of your channel?? Can you talk to christopher ward aboutloaning trusted customers 2 or 3 watches for possible buy? If i can try on 3 o4 watches, id likely buy 2 or 3 and just send the others back. Or, send out review units to try, send them back after trying them all on, and buy the one you want. Would boost sales

    It's got attractive features such as lightness and hidden crown but the downsides mentioned in the video are spot on. I love this watch and hope they can come up with an improved version. Maybe a nicer coating on the case (dial looks fantastic) and remove the coin at the back etc.

    G'day Nick, whilst it's still quite legible, yep a lot of wasted real estate there, makes it look out of proportion for no benefit, and that button "thing" on the caseback needs to go. Don't mind the black band, but fair enough mate, @ the price point should be something more special. Don't mind the crown config either, I just wonder how easy it would be to push inadvertently. Cheers Duke.

    You state that 15 Atmospheres equals 150 feet, which is correct. But the closeup show 150 meters water resistance which will equal about 500 feet. This is considerably more water resistance and is quite remarkable for a watch without a screw down crown, and also more justifies the price.

  • @MarkN67
    @MarkN67 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You are an absolute spanner, this watch is totally lost on you, what were Christopher Ward thinking when then sent it to you? The maroon strap is supplied with this watch because the Paras are known as "The Maroon Machine" after the colour of the beret worn by members of the Paras and members of the 16th Air Assault Brigade. You'll also notice that the second hand is the same colour. Why do you need drilled pin holes in the lugs? Any 22mm pin bar will fit and will allow for a true NATO strap, which passes through each pin bar. This watch is also called the Colchester as that is where the headquarters of the Paras is based. Please do some research before spouting off again.

    I disagree with you about the back of the watch. There’s nothing special or beautiful about that movement….the sides let’s you know that that it is a mechanical movement the medallion is cool with the paratrooper military type logo

    You seemed unimpressed by a strap that's been made from trash in the ocean. Seems like a somewhat important development... I mean since we have island-sized bodies of refuse and yokes & bags killing sea life and alarming levels of plastic in the food chain. Don't turn your back completely on certain issues, Nick. You have a platform.

    • @NickShabazz
      @NickShabazz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's an unimpressive strap, and I'm willing to bet that there are more impressive ways to support ocean cleanup than overpaying for a NATO strap, and I worry that this is yet more greenwashing. I've grown relatively skeptical of 'Save the planet by $CONSUMER_SPENDING' style products, and instead prefer to point people towards reliable, durable goods and call out wasteful products where I can.

    • @davidmarshall7752
      @davidmarshall7752 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NickShabazz Fair enough, and certainly as a consumer advocate you should never promote poor quality or low value, but I disagree that "Save the Planet by Consumer Spending" is a bad notion. Clearly what people will spend money and/or time on is fundamental to finding an economically digestible road to a healthier environment.
