My 2008 5 speed JLX manual has served me well. Little maintenance, always synthetic,oil and fresh air filters.
Reliable? After 11 years I took it in for an inspection last year and scored 100% operable. (Ontario, Canada) NO RUST.
1 alignment, 2 break services, and 1 new battery. Cheap to own, cheap to operate. Solid as a tank. Good for another 10.
EAT THAT MERCEDES, BMW, AND AUDI!
Very tough vehicle for hard winters.

My first Vitara was a 1994! 8 years and only filters, oil, etc... Second one a 1998 2.0! Same thing! For next 7 years... Today I got a 2010 2.4 and over 5 years only with maintenance every 10.000kms (oil, filters, alignment, brakes, etc)... The sad part of this, the current indian Vitaras are not more the same... This will be my last one for next 10 years at least
I remember fondly my dad's 2007 Grand Vitara with tthe 2.7L V6 and 4-speed automatic. It served us well for about eight years before the chassis rust became a concern. Only issues we ever had were the alternator crapping out, the fuel lines leaking, a corroded tire bead causing a flat tire, and low brake fluid on one occasion. I loved that car.

I own one 2010... 4x2.. petrol consumption is bit high.. ride is comfortable n silent.. need a fifth gear.. as top speed is bit slow.. can be used as everyday suv.. its reliable
I have an '08, and my fifth gear works fine. My Zook will last another 10 years.
You need a manual.

It's boring and reliable. Which makes it damn good.
Yep, very serviceable vehicle. I have one. Bought it used and while it had some minor problems we got fixed, I've had no problems! Don't need some incredibly expensive latest model car, this works perfectly.
