Had the pleasure of meeting this extraordinary and sensational musician back in 2015 when she played alongside David Murray and Terri Lyne Carrington. Chatted with Geri and TLC and gave them hugs and got autographs from both as well. May Geri and her Music legacy live on forever!

Beautiful. Thank you for sharing the greatness of Geri Allen. I had the pleasure of being her rep at SESAC and got to know her and her music through the years. We honored her many times with SESAC Performance awards for her #1 Jazz albums. She was a brilliant musician and composer, and a Grammy winner! I last saw her shortly before her passing at the Univ of Pittsburgh where she was doing an outstanding job as the Director of Jazz Studies and produced an incredible festival which I was lucky to be a part of. Her students adored and revered her. They will never forget her. Neither will I.

Literally, one of the biggest heartbreaks in my life was finding out that Geri had passed away. We were classmates together at Howard University's School of Music from 1975-1979. It was apparent to all of us at that time that Geri was cut from a different cloth than the rest of us. But she never separated herself from us. She was just this quiet, shy teenager who showed up like the rest of us to do what we came there to do. It didn't take long to realize that she was a musical genius. We all knew that one day she was going to take the world by storm. And she did just that. Hearing of her passing shook me to my core. I just couldn't believe it. The great Geri Allen was no more. I don't think that I will ever get over it. So glad that I got to see her on the big stage and chat with her again some years before her passing. I will never forget my dear friend Geri. ❤❤

Excellent. Just excellent. Thought I knew a lot about jazz. Started listening to and following Jazz at an early age in 1968/69. Read somewhere in a local newspaper about a jazz performance at Bethany Baptist Church in Newark, NJ sponsored by the Jazz Vespers in December of 2015. The performance featured Geri Allen who I was totally unaware of. What a treat and a welcomed awakening. My wife and I were mesmerized and totally fell in love with her and her music. We were totally blown away as this event/performance set the tone for the holiday season. She was great, very warm and made the audience feel like they were on a never ending spiritual journey in which she conducted. She had a vocalist by the name of Liz Wright join her and, the tap dancer Maurice Chestnut. This was a grand event. She was a grand lady. My wife and I will never forget that evening, we will never forget Dr. Geri Allen. Thank you Carmen. Much gratitude and blessings for putting this video together.

How beautiful and touching...Geri Allen was a phenomenal gifted musician who inspired so many, I loved growing up watching her on the old BET ON JAZZ shows on BET back in the days where jazz was still being featured live on tv.
