Perhaps not as sweet as the white dialled three hander, but for bigger guys, this is a great value, big brand chrono. As such the bracelet is ropey, but it wears so damned well that it kinda makes up for it. Cheers, Jody

I have a Chronograph Casio Edifice with black case. I can say that the Edifice line is underated and didn't get enough exposure in watch channels. Glad to see it received more attention, now.

Casio has got the hang of getting their second hands to line up with the markers. I own an affordable Edifice as well at its the same with it. I prefer to wear it with a nice leather or silicone strap rather than with that cheap looking bracelet. It would need a sapphire crystal to be truly amazing which is odd because some of the aforementioned affordable Edifice models do come with sapphire.

  • @chrisselders3548
    @chrisselders3548 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

They do a pretty good job of getting the second hand to hit the markers. Better than a TAG Heuer Awuaracer that I nearly traded a vintage Seiko for, but just couldn’t do it.

Excellent watch and great review Jody. On the pushers, do you know that the AP Royal Oak Chrono has a screw down crown, but pushers are not screw down? It's a bit of a misconception that if you push a pusher in water it will leak. If it has a good water resistance rating it won't. My Orient Mako has screw down crown and a pusher for the day complication. Being in the engineering business of course I had to take a look. It's totally sealed by a tough rubber gasket that keeps water out. When the button is released it squirts the water out! Of course it's important to check your gaskets regularly or when servicing. So, if the watch has 100m plus, maybe even 50m wr the chances are that an accidental push on the pusher in the water won't have catastrophic consequences.

The EFR-S108D-7AVUEF is the best GADA-edifice in my opinion. Just like the AT-Edifice you get a 100m WR and you pay less than 100 dollars, but the EFR-S108D-7AVUEF comes with sapphire and cooler (vertically brushed) dials. It’s smaller size (bezel is 37mm) makes it more versatile. There is however an Edifice-AT version at 35mm and I have noticed tho that the Edifice-AT will be sold with AT-deckstripes on the dial in the near-near future, so the dial-argument may become moot.

Thanks for covering the markings on the chrono subdials, the slow reset, and the ticking seconds vs chrono seconds hand locations. A lot of reviewers just say “it’s a chrono” and don’t cover those aspects, but if you’re actually going to use the complication, it makes a big difference whether the minutes are marked!

I've not long had the other, other"casioak" an EFR-S108 the regular 3 hand version of the octagon bezel chrono you reviewed before, sapphire crystal, ~38mm clean dial, pretty shape under £100 quid. It's become my preferred office watch despite all the standard Edifice (mostly the bracelet) complaints.

8:45 I would. I don’t dive. I don’t fly a plane. I don’t have a yacht. But I do time things like scripts and radio spots. And in that work, a second or two is very important, and that little chrono sub hand is not precise enough. Besides, in everyday life, you don’t really need an accurate seconds hand, which is why that’s fine as a sub dial.

I've had an Edifice with a 'faux chrono' date complication (5224 module) for some years now, and it still gets wrist time. I surely prefer the big seconds hand, but agree the accuracy of the markings need improving. Would be great with a 10ths compilation at the 12 o'clock, but that would likely kill the battery quickly if such a module existed.

I really wanted to like this, but it just seems a bit too 'busy' which is odd, considering I have a Citizen Blue Angels watch and nothing is much busier than that! I do like the white face 'acqua terra' though...have you done a review of that watch, Jody?

Reminds me of my solar powered EQS500…
Same bracelet - which sounds horrible on specs, but is extremely comfortable…
The EQS500 has a more cluttered, less legible dial and cost double the price for the benefit of solar power.
It was the watch that started my collection and so it is still a keeper and sees regular use at work, or when riding my rattely Milwaukee tractor…

I prefer chronos with the a small seconds hand, and the large chrono hand, the inverse of this watch. But I do think the watch looks rather nice apart from that.

My 1969 Omega Seamaster120 has 19mm lug width and it was especially difficult to find straps before there was an Internet. I found I could do fine with 20mm straps if I trimmed off a hair width from each side with an Exacto knife. Now 19 and 21mm straps are available but it takes a little extra searching.

I find Casio edifice’s to be the perfect holiday watch/outdoor brand on a budget. The look nice they are robust and you feel like they are made to be beaten hard!
Love my aqua terra I wasn’t too sure on this one but know you’ve turned my head… again!
