Just did a callback zoom call today and they rated me a B+ and ready to sign me. I'm 45 years old and All I wanted to do is model for a side hustle. They ask me to pay a package of $2,045 dollars of $275 per month or $71 a week for a 4 month training!! I was like "WHAT!!" Was on a zoom call with 42 people on the first audition. SOLD ME THE SAME EXACT THING.
I wish I'd known this a couple years ago, I had to learn the hard way!! This was one wild place from start to finish!!! Was with an "agency" called Bellah Modeling in Columbia, SC, and the owner crafted up the contract herself, very roughly, & I was paying $75 a month to be a model. I was promised 2 months of training and then I would get booked for paid work. I did get booked for some local shows but we models never saw a DIME. They were also incredibly unprofessional. My nail in the head was 10 of us did a photoshoot in the summer by the lake. It was boiling how, no shade, and we all had 1 water bottle. We were so so dehydrated and exhausted and she REFUSED to let us take a break to get water at the restaurant nearby, but allowed someone to go and get water for herself and her daughter + friends (who happened to be modeling with us as well.) I was FURIOUS. Later I talked about it with the other models, and it turned out she offered everyone who came a "contract" and promised everyone something different. And then I found out her daughter's friends who signed didn't have to pay anything a month!! I quit that same day and left a respectful but honest review of EXACTLY what happened while I was there. In response she posted about me to everyone who modeled under her "agency" talking negatively about me and how I expected to be made famous overnight, and when I responded saying I don't expect success, I expect honesty at all times, all the instructors there threatened to make sure I was blacklisted by everyone they worked with. I heard it caused them huge problems but I'm pretty sure Bellah is still in business ripping people off, and IMO it was worth it. I can't believe I even stayed for the time I did.
usually its just a waiting game like your fresh and new to the agency. you might get heaps of people that love and need your look in their runway magazine etc or you might have to wait months to get one little thing. it always depends on you and the agency of course its nothing personal but yeah x

I just had an interview with an agency and they made a slideshow of how great their agency is. They also wanted me to pay them over $2000 for a photographer and classes. I did not sign lol
Rowena, the modeling schools that are also modeling agencies in smaller markets actually do give discounts to the ones they think that can actually make it, they make the other ones pay full price. This is very very common practice that happens all the time. BTW I got my daughter signed with IMG and Ford and I myself model in the Paris Haute Couture shows and in Tokyo. I'm a professional photographer now.

Thank GOD I found this video I just went to a "casting call" tonight and they gave me the we use our own photographer thing no money up front but it just didn't feel right so I started doing research on them (model scout) because I was going to pay the 100$ than the 425 for the shoot but after seeing reviews and this video I have been saved thank you :)

I just posted a video about modelling scams and how to potentially save hundreds of pounds working as a model! I think it could be a good video for any aspiring model to watch. Absolutely disgusting what some of these scammers are doing!
I think it would be interesting to know what I should look for in an agency. Because even though they don't scam you or aren't sketchy, the agencys in my area doesn't seem to be that great of a deal. Are they professional, do they care about the models, do they connect the models to new jobs, do they have enough connections with good photographers
I got scammed by someone called regards Hudson “ kingly agency” they told me about a online casting, them ask me about my full name; sizes and bank Name and my address. So them send me a address for a photoshop near to me and when arrived at the address, I ask to the people and they were so confused and I show them the email with the same address and they just said me, sorry is scam.
It depends on the agency. From my personal experience. One of my first exclusive modeling agency was a body part agency. When I first signed with them. They only want their models to work with a specific professional photographer who is respectively known in the industry and only want their new signed models to work with to create a comp card. And this is no scam. The photographer charged each model $500 for 3-4 looks and it is taken at the agency office. But right before I payed for those comp cards I was booked a $800 day rate job for Anastasia for a hand modeling job. My agency booked me for the job. Been exclusively signed with them for hand modeling projects for 4 years now. They book me for job’s every month. Which helps pays my bills. I’ve been in the industry for a minute now and I will say it all depends on the agency. If they want you to only work with a in house photographer is because of their preference. The owner of the agency cares about the look and want all the models on the roster to have a professional legit comp card. It’s all business. Another way to look to see if they are legit. Is to look them up in LinkedIn and look at their review on Google. If people are claiming they are a scam PLEASE run.

There is a scouter modeling agency named Studio-1, they are offering a "free" photos shoot with a professional photographer but they require a $25 deposit fee before booking your appointment, do not request any experience, they do have a website and reviews, but I am scared that they can be either scam or human trafficking
Went to an audition for acting and it was a big auditorium with many people auditioning one by one in front of the “directors” I guess? Then they sent an email about me having to pay 1-6k dollars in order to do different types of training for them. One of deals was 1k for 8 hours of training???! And you’re not guaranteed any jobs they just put ur name out… very glad I realized it was a scam and after researching about it, it seems many people have been scammed by these types of agencies.

Comp card fees n website fees is industry standard lol. NOW if they make u shoot with their photographer and it’s mandatory. Then yea scam. Fees are fees just as long as it’s not insane. If you’re in real estate. You know you have to pay like 3 MLS annual fees. And monthly broker fee.
So I want to sign with an agency but they want me to pay 300 dollar fee just for registration and apparently its a one time fee and I have headshots but if I want to change them they want me to pay 600 for their photographer...why cant I find my own photographer and pay way less money for a few photos why does it have to be their photographer? Im guessing i shouldnt sign with them then?? is there even supposed to have registration fees for model agencies?
I just got signed up to new idol models and I have my first test shoot on the 15th of October but I've being told by a few people that they never ask you for money upfront but I gave them my credit card information and payed them a deposit of 50 bucks have I got scammed or is this company legit 😖
Scam!! Don’t do it! They said they partnered with Nike and could get me jobs with Nike. Ended up calling Nike HQ and they said they have never heard of them! Hope this helps :)
