So cool how Amy got her start in punch needling! Appreciate the lesson with the Susan Burr... Found some vintage "Speed Tufting Tools" at the thrift store, so you've inspired me to give it a go! THANX, Deana!!! x
I just got a Susan Burr hook in a craft box I bought, so I'm curious now how to use this. I am an avid cross-stitcher, but this rug hooking could be quicker and more fun(?). Curious how to get started without buying ALL the things. :)
Do you find it extremely physical to work the thing? I worked it a little more and it was beyond exhausting. I mean I haven't been keeping fit lately but it seemed incredibly labor intensive!
I have several and love them! No issues with turns. I use primary tufting cloth and burlap.
I’m so glad you had this demo of the Susan Burr machine!
I just did a Google search to see how it works and up you popped!
Thank you!❤

Susan Bur works best used horizontally

You have to stop with the needle in the fabric and turn before you begin again.
Excellent tip! I'll do that next time I picking these up... now I'm looking forward to using this again!
You can double or triple a yarn in a Burr or almost any of the mechanical punches.

@@RibbonCandyHooking Yeah, I find it's better if you have your frame upright rather than try to punch down.
