Nothing Taliesin does is funny. Sam (or any cast member) says funnier things in one episodes than Taliesin has total in 300+. He is the painfully obvious weak link of the group. Every time he starts on one of his cringe inducing attempts to be clever/smart/wise/funny you can see the other cast members thinking "oh god, here we go again"... but he's their friend, so they won't admit it. When he has somebody writing for him, and the benefit of multiple takes (like in the amazon show), he's not bad.

There's nothing quite as amazing as watching Sam land an absolutely thunderous punchline that stunlocks the entire table while he just leans back and watches his handiwork.
The very first clip shows something i actually really respect about Matt as a DM. The party breaks down in laughter at Sam's "yelping". But Matt doesn't. He looks down in disappointment - understandable - but then he calmly starts processing and thinking. I really struggle with this as a DM. There's nothing wrong with enjoying a joke with friends, but being able to hold a calm demeanour and be the stoic presence that brings the party back on track, even for something as silly as an imaginary pub crawl, can really cut down on fluff time at a table. I tend to lean in and laugh with my friends, leading to jokes taking up more time. Obviously less importantly for a home game that isn't on a clock. This is also why, when Matt does break, it's just so much more impressive.
I also just wanna remind everyone that the reason we FCG's gas can (and Nott/Veth's flask) is because a fan sent Sam an oversized stein that would be size-accuraye for Scanlan.
