I purchased the SZ-2 and the Numark NS7-3, with the intention of trying them side by side and keeping one (Guitar Center has a 60 Day return policy). I ended up keeping the Numark for a few reasons, the ability to enable the spinning platter is a nice option when I want a turntable feel. On the NS7, all of the effects are post fader, on the SZ-2 they are not. The three screens on the NS7, allow you to stop looking at your laptop. The touch/kill switches is nice to kill (low, mid or high) with a touch. The price is $700 cheaper new and 300-400 used.
C Sanchez Actually i was wondering if it has post fader effects the other day, because I couldn't hear the echo. If it doesn't thats pathetic seeming my XDJ R1 has post fader
Agreed, the XS, XS 2 all have post fader. That was one of the factors that made me go with the Numark. The onboard effects and the Serato effects are not post fader.
I just purchased the SZ2. I got a pitch n time card with activation key and serato flip.. I don’t have a full license key?? I’ve tried contacting pioneer but no response yet. Where was your license key located.. however when I plugged into my Mac book I had to install drivers for sz2 I did not have to do that with my sx2.. but now serato is saying it’s hardware activated
You should get the full licence from Serato for the SZ2. Did you purchase it brand new? As far as I remember pitch n time and flip are bonus add ons you get with the controller. Oh remember to update the firmware on the SZ2 as it has important bug fixes from Pioneer, one of them being the pitch control smoothness. DJ Dynablend I did buy it brand new and I’ve contacted Serato and learned that the SZ2 unlocks serato just buy installing the drivers and plugging it into the laptop.. and yes it also came with pitch n time and flip license keys.. which is why I was looking for the license key for serato itself.. so far I love this controllerI have been using the sx2 for about 2 years and just wanted something new and updated with post fader effects as well as a dedicated mic channel.. I was really on the fence and almost purchased the ddj1000 instead.. but after about a month of really considering all my options.. I’m just not ready to move to Rekordbox.. I have been using Serato for years.. the new update with Tidal and sound cloud just dropped and as a mobile open format DJ it’s nice to be able to have a streaming service for that odd request you may not have in your library.. I remember pulselocker in serato and I’ve already used Tidal while playing live and had no issues.. the only thing that stood out to me was the beat grids on the music you stream seemed off to me. Other than that no issues! But yes I’m very happy with the SZ2 it’s a monster to lug around in the case but it really says hey I’m a professional dj bringing pro equipment! RZ usually means it runs on Recordbox

This is still the flagship controller I believe man. I do recommend but it is a very big, heavy unit.
