This song makes me feel like I can't breathe. When I listen to it I can't do anything but that. Listen. No singing. No head bobbing. No air guitar. Nothing. I just close my eyes and listen, constantly losing my breath over and over again. It makes me feel empty and full at the same time. And I don't know why that is. I love this song.

Paramore saved my life. I have been listening since Brand New Eyes and I had never heard any "punk" music before and I had never connected with music the way I did with Paramore and when I got kicked out of my house I would sing " think of your future, think of your dreams. you'll get away from here, you'll get away eventually." and I remember laying in the streets and crying and singing this song to myself and I remember wanting to give up because I had no where to live, no money, no friends or family. I felt hopeless and I would sing this song and I am now 22 and in college and following my dreams of becoming a professional makeup artist and I am so happy and I am alive thanks to Paramore

This. This is the type of song that reminds people to breathe. It's the song that makes you wanna run 'cause you're unstoppable and climb to the top of those endless stairs and scream your heart out because you CAN. It's the song you listen to when you're lying on the grass contemplating about life and grinning to yourself because WOW. You're alive and the grass is so soft and the wind is so gentle and the sun is so beautiful and you're alive and just WOW.
I've been looking for a song like this.

  • @midwestemxn

This song is my favorite from the album. I don't think Paramore has ever said why they have a false ending but here's what I think. The lyrics talk about how they are looking to the future and moving on with their lives. This is song represents them as a band because when the music starts to fade, It's symbolic of how they were gonna give up and stop being a band, but THEN the music comes back in symbolic of how They're like we're not done yet. Then notice how the guitar riff changes, this symbolizes how They're different now (as in now being only three members, and this new sound) but then it crosses into the repetitive riff heard, and maybe symbolizing that they'll becoming like their old self again (musically). Which either way, I think this album is their best.

They should have stopped being a band. The heart and creators of the band left in 2010 because they had lost control of where the band was heading in terms of style. The 2 other guys left were the "fillers" of the band. The bands sound was created by Josh and Zac Farro who were lead guitarist and drummer, you know, the important parts, not bassist and rhythm guitar which are the puppets left. Hayley and the other two should have renamed themselves but they, along with Atlantic Records, wanted to ride on the success of the Paramore name. The only other surviving original member is Jeremy Davis, the bassist, which almost didn't do the band because when they started Zac Farro was only 12 and his brother Josh was 15 while Jeremy was 17. After founding out how bad ass Zac was, even though Zac was very humble about it, Jeremy decided to stick with it. The 2 who were going to do the band no matter what, are no longer there. Their parts combined, were arguably more influential than Hayley's and you can't keep the band if only 1 of 3 parts stayed. Taylor York is only a replacement for Hunter Lamb who was a replacement for Jason Bynum. As a matter of fact, for a short time Josh played his part and Hunter Lambs part after Hunter left before bringing in Taylor York. I won't say the other 2 are shitty, they just aren't Paramore. They can't claim that the previous albums are their albums because all they did was ride on the wake of Hayley's/Josh's/Zacs success.

    • @midwestemxn
      @midwestemxn 9 ปีที่แล้ว +52

Joey Quigley I'm glad they're still a band. Personally, I like them better now. However, everyone knows how great they were when Josh and Zac were in the band. However, this the beginning of the revival of Paramore. I respect your opinion though.

    • @joeyquigley3794
      @joeyquigley3794 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

WildRenji Well that's a completely opinionated statement with no factual evidence to support your opinion. We call those uneducated judgments. There is no way you could know if that was true or not, unless you traveled with the band at all times. There isn't even a statement made by outside media sources (who have the ability to ask direct questions to both parties) claiming anything that aligns with your statement. But it is still your right to voice your opinion, educated or not.

    • @Dimitrischtz
      @Dimitrischtz 9 ปีที่แล้ว +25

Joey Quigley Josh Farro has his own band now which is called "Farro" (in which he sings) really? Plus their music video shows only himself.. and his songs are now way more pop than Paramore's (which aren't even pop). And yeah this might be an opinion but it's not only mine.. But I seriously think that "style" wasn't the reason the Farro's left the band.

This is one of my favorite songs by Paramore just because it's one of those really long and almost completely instrumental pieces that I can just lean back and listen to for a while (not to mention that the lyrics have a lot to do with how I'm feeling personally right now). I'd love to hear more heavy stuff like this because it reminds me of Tool's Triad in a way. It's bursting with potential for Paramore to become a band that showcases the musical talent of every member, and not just the beautiful frontlady.

Haha you nailed several stuff&feelings (life evaporates for real 😞), and objectively good musical taste :p
Like the guy who would insist on that I gotta go listen to Failure because this was inspired by such bands, I gotta be a bit annoying now and keep mentioning Thrice...
If you don't know that band, you'll be discovering some very interesting stuff soon.
Not everyone likes the same songs/albums by them because their style changes quite a bit each time, but there's been something good in every album of theirs afaik, and you can't lose with them, so far.
Sad songs, raw rocking sounds, downright pessimistic or deeply optimistic, atmospheric elements, biblical references (:s), realistic and objective angles, and so many others, all in one.
      Amazing!
Yours with just 99€$£¥ ...oh wait, I'm not really selling anything.
But yh, do give them chances and you won't regret it :p
And... Do keep enjoying all good music.

This song's structure is so good, I love it. Future starts quietly in your thoughts. When they settle down and you are ready to go there's no more thinking, only action. You dive into the river without fully knowing where you're going and let the stream float you to where it's going. I remember when I first heard this song. I was speechless. So many emotions yet I was empty. This song gets to me in a way I've never experienced music before and it's a good song for just thinking or if you need something to pull you up from thinking too much. I love you paramore but this work of art is literally something else.

I just love this song, it takes me back to "all we know is falling" and in the same time it points out a new direction for which paramore are moving for.
The lyric's clearly telling us that they are leaving these last four hard years behind them, and moving forward without watching past for Zac and Josh.
And the whole song end with a four minute long orgasm of instruments from Taylor and Jeremy.

It's weird. I love this song and it makes me dreadfully sad......but not sad in a bad way, but beautifully sad if that makes any sense. The lyrics are so fucking real, and then when the drums kick in and the band just wails, i start to think about life and and time and how frail we all really are. I love songs like this, songs that invoke a ton of emotions and thoughts.

Is it weird that im proud of this song? This completely explains all of the process they went through with this album, everything is just so well made. Especially that this is the last song of the album because its sums all up. They never changed, they just grew up and did what they love and if you arent happy with this that's okay but let them be and understand that we all constantly change.
I really needed to get this out of my chest.

The Nurse Who Loved Me (probably the one with parts that sound the most like this song)
Pillowhead (more of a grunge song)
Another Space Song (more of a mellower song)
      Have Fun!

Paramore covered Failure on their 2006 Summer Tic EP too, titled "Stuck on You" (in fact that EP's name is derived from a lyric from that song). An amazing song made more perfect with the addition of Hayley's vocals.
BTW, Ken Andrews actually provides backing vocals in Now and Be Alone too. Pretty damn awesome.

I'm not the one to leave long comments on videos, but this song (and album) helped me through a lot. I remember listening to this track over and over again. "Something won't always be missing, you won't always feel empty here", and "You'll get away from here, you'll get away eventually". Those two lines would almost always break me.
Now, years later, I'm in a much better headspace and despite still having some struggles, in a much better place in my life. Lately I've came back to this song and it feels bittersweet. It's still comforting, but even more so knowing I got away from that place, eventually.
Stay strong, everyone. Something won't always be missing.

The beginning of this song makes you just listen and think for a moment. It slowly makes you think of your past. It lets you get into that head space. When all of the music gets louder and there are more insturments you see all the bad things, all the bad choices, all the regret, the sadness, the anger, everything in your past you wish you could let go but just can't. It goes silent. So you can just sit there and think about it. When the music sloely comes back you think of all the good things. All the good stuff you have gone through in life. All this things shaped you to move on with the future. To move forward and be who you are. I have never felt so much for a song before. This is truly amazing and I am glad that this song found me.

And the fact it's the closing track on the album, is even better. I really want them to do more shoegazey post-rock stuff like this, and the epic outro of Let The Flames Begin live. It's just too good to not continue exploring.

Okay, I'd finally like to express my opinion on Paramore's new music. It's different, but it's amazing. Had they stayed the same, I would've lost all my interest in them after Brand New Eyes. This is coming from a person who became after hearing CrushCrushCrush back in 2013, so I'm pretty familiar with both styles of Paramore. I myself am more of a classic rock fan, but honestly, Paramore is one of the best bands today. They matured, so don't expect them to write angsty songs about teenage problems. It fit them when they were 17, now they're adults. I'm happy for the change. :)

It just dawned on me.. this song is melancholic and optimistic because this is the last song on the last album they were the old alternative rock-ish Paramore. Then the end is almost an encore but it fades because, well, that Paramore faded into existence, too. Think of the future.. the future of what Paramore would become.

.... Wow, i heard this song at just the right moment. I needed this. A year ago I moved away to this new city for college, and just this first year on my own didn't go as planned. I hate it here, it's really hard to fit in and make friends since I don't fit into this towns' social life and so my first year of college was just awful and lonely. I left all my friends and family behind for this, and the fact that all my hopes of having these amazing college experiences crushed in this town day after day, it took a toll on me, fell into depression really hard. But after some thought, I've decided to leave this town. I'm going to move across the country to Portland to follow my passion in art and film and start fresh up there. Can't wait to see what the next year of my life will be. Crossing my fingers that it'll get better.

People often forget that our lives are short. Things could go downhill quickly, and sooner than later you'll never be able to get to see the future because of it. Foresight is your shining beacon. Don't let yourself do something you will regret later. Repent for your mistakes. Dont let the past weigh you down. Carve your path to a brighter future. Reform yourself, and most importantly: dont forget to cherish the family and friends you've made along the way.

Listening to the whole self-titled album at once for the first time, it really feels like an ode to the band facing growing up even when it's hard and the past isn't coming back. Hearing individual songs on the radio, online, and in various places as a kid, some of the songs from this album were already ingrained in my memory, but hearing it now that I'm in college is the most I've ever resonated with them. Future in particular feels like a grounded culmination of all the album's core emotions until that transcendent back half with the guitars kick in. Easily one of my favorite Paramore songs and up there with All I Wanted as their best ending to an album.

    LYRICS
    (Yeah)
(That's how you had it, yeah)
    (Pretty sure)
(It is, it's goes clapping a bit)
    (Something just in that way)
    (Alright, here we go)
(You go up and down this time)
    I'm writing the future
    I'm writing it out loud
We don't talk about the past
We don't talk about the past now
    So, I'm writing the future
    I'm leaving a key here
    Something won't always be missing
    You won't always feel emptier
    Ah, ah, hmm
    Ah, ah, hmm
    Just think of the future
    And think of your dreams
    You'll get away from here
    You'll get away eventually
So, just think of the future
    Think of a new life
And don't get lost in the memories
Keep your eyes on a new prize
    Ah, ah, ah, ah
    Ah, ah, ah, ah
    Hmm

I’ve only just started listening to paramore recently, and after listening to all their songs this is my favourite. It’s so cathartic to me. I absolutely love it

I’m here after Hayley confirmed this was Paramore’s best song in her opinion.
