- No damage was taken during this fight (sort of). Honestly this is one of the best defensive spell in the game. During this fight, there are many things I wish I had done differently but nevertheless I'm really relieved.
Build:
2 Paladin - 10 Sword Bard
Tempest Cleric
Fighter (Ranged) - Battle Master
Evoker Wizard

i love that your spells are arranged by colour. so satisfying
I'm so glad you noticed that! There are so many spells that I forgot to use for some certain scenarios so I decided to arranged them based on their color and elemental type.
@@ponolus3 im def doing that in my next run, i tried to arrange them by how often i would use them but i dont think it actually helped so i might as well make it look nice 😂
I accidentally broke it even further. Inside the globe of invulnerability Hope managed to cast divine intervention repeatedly without consuming it. She basically nuked the area each turn (without taking damage frome retaliation of course). I don't know if it was intended to work like this or just a glitch.
For me I was saving the barrel of smokepowder I stole back in act 1, I basically made Gale invisible because he didn't have that good initiative and then cast the globe of invulnerability, convinced Yurgir to join us and he basically set off the explosive, which didn't kill everyone per say but did destroy 3/4 soul pillars, then the rest was cleaned up by my cleric casting divine intervention and Hope too.
Dang, gonna test it out soon!
@@shroomer3867 where did you place the barrel ?
@@Dreamsyn I placed it in the center of the room just a little bit down from where Raphael spawns, it doesn't deal a lot of damage to him since the pillars basically give him a lot of damage reduction but it does take out the pillars and some cambions
@@shroomer3867 thanks, I'll try it too in my honour mode run!
This spell is so insanely useful in the late game
Never thought of using this for once but since Honour mode, I completely relied on this spell to trivialize most of the late game bosses.
@@ponolus3 it really does trivialize it too.
the spell "hold monster" RUINS him 2 turns max lol@@TaylorONEism93
used it during channeling the crown, however I think if AI would choose to push you out of the radius it could be waste of 6th lvl spell, not sure how AI behaves in higher difficulties (went for mid one, second run will go for highest)
This single spell carried me through the entire act 3, ngl
The Globe is so old I kept using it before Honor mode even existed
But I always used Hope as a healer. plus her Banishment spell has a unique side effect. She can banish an unwanted guest from the house permanently, and she can cast it twice. I left the Divine intervention untouched and it was still easy going enough :D
I used barrlemancy to destroy all the pillars and most of the cambions instantly, then I finished the fight by using Shadowhearts Command: Grovel every round.
At Spell DC 25+ it's 100% to make Raphael (etc) grovel for the round. He bascially can't fight back.
Elixir of Initiative helps here too, making sure you get critical attacks in early.
That's really good! I presume you pick the right answer at the Mirror of Loss for the extra stats, right? As for the barrelmancy, I used it on Ansur since that was the fight I struggled the most.
@@ponolus3 Globe is basically a cheat code for Ansur also. Any normal team, like monk + sorc/wiz + cleric + swords bard/fighter/whatever can lay waste to him with impunity. I'm doing a solo honor run now, and I'm inclined to just barrelmancy him also =) But I am giving strong consideration to a fire sorc with globe up also. I'm just not sure I'll get anough actions if focusing on globe instead of haste, and if I use a haste potion I could well go lethargic before getting the kill...Maybe I'll compromise in between with just *some* barrelmancy.
@@garyco766 Strongly recommend barrelmancy if you're going solo. That skinny ass dragon literally zapped everyone in my party even with the Globe (I think it's a bug) but luckily I leave someone behind in camp as a backup plan.
@Maxedd Odd, I did him on my last honor run using globe, and it went without a hitch. When he nuked, my whole party just shrugged. I'm not sure why it didn't work for you.
I had three scrolls of this spell as well as having it prepped for Gale and only used 1 scroll and one spell. Also brought tons of smoke powder barrels and saved the rune bomb just for this. Made the fight SO much easier.
Yup. Had Hope and Gale inside Globe and then Magic Missiled and Divine Intervention twice.
My astarion rouge said "I CAST GALE!" and then deposited Gale's dead body into Raph's pockets.
I had no clue ranged battle master hits like a goddamned truck
Me too! I actually decided to go full battle master because of the Gauntlets of the Warmaster alone.
@@ponolus3Need to make more judicious use of Arrow of Many. Broken ass expendable item.
@@garyco766 yeah but in their case they were in the globe of invulnerability and had no reason to try and end the fight as soon as possible. those arrows are way too fucking expensive!
first time I did this fight I had a really high ac party, with two warlocks immediately going to work on those pillars while the astarion and lae'zel quickly wiped out everyone else. it's really fun to see how other people handle it.
funny thing is, that theme song has the classic Disney Villian song vibe
This spell makes almost every encounter easy 😭 I had over 20 scrolls on the final boss fight and the bosses move that destroys the standing pads don’t do anything lol
That's excellent tip, thanks
Yeah, it's kinda unfair how busted it is :D
And that is how it's done!
Last time I did this fight I just used barrelmancy combined with the Runepoweder Bomb to just nope this whole fight
that spell breaks almost everything
Ok ima need the classes to these guys💀
I've saved like 10 scrolls of Chain Lightning just for this fight. Create water, cast lightning spell, max damage with Destructive Wrath and eveything will pretty much explode.
This is my plan on my solo run. I should be able to put down like 6 chain lightning on round 1. Or maybe 4ish and globe or sanctuary, then repeat for round 2.
so you decided to be Thor for a little while then? nice
I did the same but not on honor mode, the spell is super cheese when fighting boss. Raphael got CC blasted by my elderich blast warlock/sorcerer, Gortash got barrelmancy in the face
If I played again I wouldn't use Globe because it trivialises the game and I played through on tactician. Removed all suspense from fights.
Really overpowered spell until they rework the AI to shove or pull you out of the bubble.
Me currently reloading the save a million times so i can role a 20
sick
Thanks!
The figther archer is the one that's feel like an power fantasy archer? no crazy setups?
Nope. Just straight up get in, kill someone and get out.
@@ponolus3 Thank you for de the video! I'll try this build on my next run.
loll, used this spell to beat him last night, it really trivializes his pillars when he just cant even damage you lol
Glad that you had the same idea
@@ponolus3 lol yea i globed my whole party and then had my tavern brawler monk just pummel him with 150 damage + a stun every turn
my dumbass cast the globe before the fight and it disappeared
Song op
It's nothing... Just 9000 gold from spell shop KEKW
I was able to kill him first round honour mode, and i was SO SCARED of this fight.
This and Ansur fight were the scariest for me.
@@ponolus3 Those 2 and Viconia. She is sneakily one of the toughest fights in act 3. She just has sooo many guys, and they use a nasty darkness spell that they can see through and you can't. And the room is so big it's hard to AoE them all down.
How did you kill him first round💀
@macvadda2318 there's a lot of videos of people killing him in 1 round. It used to almost always involve a broken illithid power. But you can do it with smites, hold monster, bhaalist armor, or several other ways.
How do you have smite lvl VI?
Multi class to Bard (2 Paladin - 10 Sword Bard).
So you didn't destroy pillars, just minions. And then hope you get his hp down before he can heal? Watching on small phone so hard to distinguish it all.
You're right at the first part. I didn't destroy the pillars but I had Gale casted Globe of Invulnerability in the middle of the room and then finish Raphael off. And Hope, well I didn't use her that much since no one in my party took any damage.
Doesnt look like honor mode. No radiant retort. Can't use smites or light damage in that fight
This game is still too easy 😂
It sucks there is no HUD on console. They replaced it with that stupid wheel.
Just fyi, the soul pillars are vulnerable to force damage *laughs in warlock*
