Bearing noises in a clutch system are easily distinguished by running a few simple tests. Start the engine and leave the transmission in neutral. If a transmission makes noise when it is in neutral it is often a worn input shaft bearing. depress the pedal until the clutch just engages. This is the point where the release bearing is just contacting the pressure plate fingers. If you begin to hear a squealing sound this is likely a worn release bearing. If a whirling noise is present when the clutch pedal is fully depressed it is probably the pilot bearing.
MrNj21 so when i relase the truck into gear and begin to accelerate it starts to make a whirling bearing noise. When i disengage the gears or push down the clutch in neutral the noise goes away. So you think its the piolt bearing?
I have isuzu dmax with the same problem. Pilot bearing and release bearing already replaced but still problem not solved. When I start in the morning with cold engine there is no sound. But if driven few kilometers and the engine is at operating temp the sound suddenly appears. What could be the problem?
Nope i had my gearbox refurb'd again cause 5th gear blew up and the company refurb'd all the gears ect and charged me a small amount cause it was their fault and tbh i was such a small amount. Anyway i also had an Exedy clutch kit put in on and i still have this noise. No clue what it is but the input shaft bearing was replaced in the refurb. Throw out bearing/Clutch bearing was also replaced when the clutch was changed so.. dunno. Sorry but if i do ever find out ill let you know.
I have EXACTLY the same noise in my Renault. The car is only 6 months old, so I checked my mates who have the same car and they have the same noise which turned out to be something normal. Some of them own the car for about 2 years and no problems reported.
Kell Webber, I also have EXACTLY this noise in my R32 GTS. Just to clarify my thinking do you have the RB20 RB25 or RB26 transmission? Mine has the original RB20 transmission with an RB25DET engine. I'm currently in the getting worse stage of the sound, it's sort of been there since I got the car, but the past month or so it's worsened enough that I'm not driving the car to work for fear I blow something up.
Kristian Yordanov mine does. When the foot is off the clutch, there's a "high pitch" sound, like metal rubbing against metal. As soon I put my foot down the pedal, the sound stops. Any clue?
@@matt.banton Did you ever find out what it was? I have exactly the same noise and its loud on deceleration too! On Volvo 2.0d (sharing many parts with Mondeo)

did you find the problem my friend ???
Did you ever find out the problem? I had a similar noise on my car which turned out to be a duel mass flywheel.
Chris Fix had a similar noise on a mustang and his turned out to be throw out bearing.

Input Shaft Bearing on your gearbox , If you havent solved it yet .

could it be throw out bearing? i have the same thing in my audi
input shaft bearing?pilot bearing??....i thought this was because throw out bearing?
I have same problem what is problem solution
What's the problem ?? Some one could figure it ....I have same issue
Input bearing makes noise when the clutch in engaged. Do you have any noise when you down shift at all.
What was the noise he dismisses in the beginning? When he was push down the clutch
Just vibration, could be caused by the bad bearing tbh.
It’s A. Bearing 😮
I have the same problem in my transit any help
Michael Conners it was the input shaft bearing. Not the release bearing in the clutch.
+Kell Webber thanks mate
Kell Webber how many hours of work did it take to solve the problem ?

Swapped '96 328i (AT to MT - ZF).
pretty sure it's the input shaft bearing
it kinda sounds like something a dying engine would sound like
and when clutch is pressed it's gone
It’s your pilot bearing
