  • I remember one day, my friend Za and I were out fishing at Grassland Valley where the San Joaquin River runs through. He was standing on a big rock and reeled in a channel catfish. We're both experienced fishermen but it really does not matter, things happen. When he tried to unhooked the catfish, the catfish stabbed his hand and he was bleeding bright red blood. One of his artery probably got puncher since the blood is bright red instead of dark red. Bloods in the artery is brighter than those in the veins. The guy was losing quite a bit of blood while I ran back to the parking lot to grab my emergency kit out from my car. Parking lot was close by that's why I didn't carry my kit with me.
When I got back, there was blood all over the rock where he stands. I used the normal saline in the kit to rinse off his blood and cleansed his wound. Then I put a quick clot cotton on his wound and wrapped it. His bleeding stops right away and we were able to fish for the rest of the day. Those of you that works with Za and I at the same hospital, you can ask him about this event lol.
As a nurse, I hate going fishing with a large group sometimes. Especially my own Hmong people LOL. Why? Because no one really thought of bringing along emergency kit with them LOL. What's going to happen once someone gets hurt? Everyone will look at me to do something just because I'm in the healthcare field lol. Hey if you go fishing with me and notice why my backpack is always so big and bulky, it's mostly because of my emergency kit LOL.
I'm just glad that after ten years of fishing, I only have to use my emergency kit one time. Thank goodness! Most of the time, the item/products in my emergency kit expired and I ended up throwing them away and then buying some new products to replace them.
The picture below is my emergency kit in my kid's playroom. I have one for my outdoor backpack as well.
If you want the same outdoor kit that I carry with me everywhere I go, you can get it from here: amzn.to/3DfpQJY
The cotton I used to stop his bleeding is this one! Very important to carry one with you. amzn.to/3j63t2M
Thank god I've never have to use my snake bite kit. Hopefully, I'll never have to use it. Snake bite kit here: amzn.to/3R6iaPC
In case you want more variety, I've gathered some kits from amazon in one page. You can check it out at my storefront: www.amazon.com....

It's really creepy when people come up to you, while you're fishing. Very creepy! Especially, at night, and you don't know if that person is an actual person or a ghost!
