I am disabled but not in a wheelchair yet, to look at me on the outside people would think nothing is wrong with me then look at my MRI’s and say DAMN !!! Then add diabetic neuropathy to it. I can’t stand too long and I can’t sit too long and other people look at you and say you’re just lazy and sitting back making big money on disability, if they could only see my monthly paycheck. I used to be a very good nurse , now I can’t do the job I loved for over 20 years . In one blink of the eye and my world changed forever and the doctors try to minimize your pain or situation. Praying for you and all disabled persons and all our nation. This world needs more God in their lives , no matter the color . God is color blind. He created us all.

Unfortunately this song really highlights the struggle of poor people of every skin color in the US. Poor people whether they are black or brown or yellow or white all suffer much of the same issues. They struggle for everything they have, they are disproportionately imprisoned and affected by drug and substance abuse issues far more than the middle class. It is not really a skin color issue but an issue of income. Most if not all of the labels applied to poor black people now are the exact same labels applied to poor southern white people 100 years ago. The real irony is that it is the same people applying those labels now as it was then, wealthy and educated white people of a particular political persuasion (happen to be in the White House right now). IT is not about oppression of a certain skin color but of entire segments of the population. By creating division and animosity, they can take and maintain power. If you spend all of your time blaming a certain group for all of your issues because you were told that group is at fault, you don't bother to look for the real source of the issues. You lay the blame where you are directed instead of where it belongs, and that is how they win. If we stop viewing people as labels and colors and view them as people, those that have used division and animosity as weapons lose all their power. Rise above the complexion and see that everyone is a person first and foremost and that their skin is not who they are. Their heart and mind is who they are. Tom knows this and that is the message in his music.
