The greatest singer of all time, Charice. Thanks for a fantastic review to our Philippine Charice Pempenco

Thank you for this analysis. Charice has been one of my favorite vocalists of all time. Let’s not forget this performance was done when she was only 17, I believe, as compared to many others who had more years to hone their vocal abilities and are at the top of their game. Nonetheless, in my opinion, the Filipino artists are like no other and I am glad you appreciate their talent ❤️

What a powerful agile voice she has. That melisma 🤯 Great analysis Dr. Dan. I do enjoy your comments on not just the voice but the body alignment and mic techniques too. Very interesting and informative.

A great vocal coach reaction from someone who, as a first-time vewer of your channel, does know whereof he speaks. Great note on the mic, too, which the other vocal coahes didn't note (meaning, that it is a Senn, not that it is glittery-Charice a was Sennheiser brand ambassador in 2009 for the Philippins and was given her own special ed. Swarovski-studded one that you see, which, by the sound of it, may be different from what Charice/Jake later promoted, the more consumer-friendly E822s).
What's great about vocal coaches analyzing Charice's live performances before and post-pandemic era-huge thanks to the uploaders AND TH-cam-is that these were'nt around at the peak of Charice's active international career, and, as much as Charice's influence on the Filipino singers that followed (as well as Charice's peers), is that these add to their evolution and continuous learning, not simply copying the "Charice style." It certainly takes a lot of practice, discipline and intelligence both emotional and musical (which no doubt Charice possesses), to get to the level of this and Charice's performances. Thank you.
Hope you're inclined to check out Manila 2010 David Foster in Manila (in pink dress), or promotional tour shows (Bangkok, "Halo" cover is highly recommended), or other live videos that interest you.
    Cheers, much appreciated :)

about charice's mic, there was an article about it, and it's the skm 2000 and apparently, because of it being covered in more than 2000 swarovski crystals, the mic cost about $14,000 USD. it was a gift from sennheiser back in 2010 and one of the executives jokingly told her to "guard it with her life".

She was only 18-year-old here and that voice can be compared to the likes of Whitney, Céline and Mariah the vocal trinity themselves. Charice is the undisputed best Asian singer to ever exist in our history.

Yes, Jake Zyrus, formerly known as Charice, appeared on the television show Glee playing the character Sunshine Corazon. Sunshine was introduced as a foreign exchange student with exceptional vocal talent, serving as a rival to the show's main character, Rachel Berry. The role showcased Zyrus' incredible vocal range and abilities and added an interesting dynamic to the show's storyline. It was a memorable performance that left an impression on many viewers.

There was a vie for Charice to be qualified to be among the world's top 3 best female singers of all time....i dont know details about this but there were objections she shouldnt be because she doesnt exist...if this were so then the same rule should apply to other greats like Whitney Houston who isnt with us anymore.

She was with Céline, Whitney and Mariah’s vocal calibers during her golden era. I believe she is the undisputed best singer of the entire Asia.

That is actually ridiculous. Top female singer of "all time". Means living, dead, retired, no longer calling themselves by their stage name. They would have to say top singers today to rule out the others.

I think perhaps you don't understand the connotation of the phrase "pocket rocket" in American culture -- I would suggest you change your thumbnail. This phrase in America is a euphemism of something pertaining to male anatomy. I'm sure that's not what you intended...but I thought you should know.

    • @DrDanRobinson
      @DrDanRobinson  ปีที่แล้ว +4

I have done some extra research to enquire as to my cultural misunderstanding of the term. I was relieved to find that the term "Pocket Rocket" has several meanings, depending on the context in which it is used:
*Small but Powerful:* Generally, this term is used to describe something small in size but exceptionally powerful or efficient. It's often applied to compact cars with high-performance engines.
*Sportsperson:* In sports, a "Pocket Rocket" might refer to a smaller athlete who is surprisingly fast, agile, or strong compared to their larger counterparts.
*Consumer Electronics:* In the realm of gadgets and devices, a "Pocket Rocket" could refer to a small yet powerful piece of technology, like a compact camera with professional-level features.
*Firework:* The term can also refer to a small firework that is known for its powerful explosion despite its small size.
*Finance:* In stock trading or investments, a "Pocket Rocket" might be a small stock or investment that provides unexpectedly high returns.
*Sexual Context:* The term is sometimes used in a more adult context to describe small vibrators or other similar devices.
*Aviation:* Sometimes, small but high-performance aircraft are referred to as "Pocket Rockets."
*Personal Nickname:* The term can also be a nickname for an individual who is small but has a lot of energy, ambition, or talent.
*Music and Entertainment:* Occasionally, you'll see the term used to describe a rising star or a breakout artist who gains rapid success, despite being relatively new or unknown.
The context generally makes the meaning clear, but it's worth noting that the term often carries a positive connotation, emphasising the subject's impressive capabilities despite its small size.
